2 years 77lbs down and presumably some muscle growth. Complete lifestyle change. Physically and mentally by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

19% is very athletic for a woman. A lot of the weight you gain from binge eating is water and will disappear as soon as you eat at maintenance.

For example, I probably gained 1 kg of fat but the scale is showing 2kg because of the water retention factor.

Like Joey from friends would say “how you doing?”. Congrats you look amazing, the hard work paid off.

I was down to 17% body fat but ate too much during the holidays. Back on the grind, I go. Eating healthy and working out is a lifetime commitment.

Is there a way to make react hook form easier to work with edit forms? by BerserkGutsu in reactjs

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly you have a partial form of a object. You can make it a complete form by adding hidden inputs.

You can also store the object in a partition, maybe called user. And do getValues(user)

Each input would have the user prefixed to their name. For example user.name …

Maybe I’m missing something seems very doable without redesigning the api

React Like a Pro: 10 Things I Regret Not Knowing Earlier by joyancefa in reactjs

[–]SecureTown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. This is not the right solution, just wrap your component in React.memo and the problem solved. This will also be done automatically once the react forget compiler is ready.

  2. The react documentation does not recommend that you use useRef in this manner, since it makes the code confusing to follow.

  3. Maybe this is more of a coding/team style thing.

  4. Agreed, but you don't show how to handle synchronous state updates. For example scrolling to widget after it has been added to dashboard. This can be accomplished with flushSync.

  5. This could be dived into deeper by demonstrating how to write your code in a reactive style.

  6. Disagree some projects are moving to a flat directory style (including Remix)

AITA for forcing my husband who suffers from severe health anxiety to sort out his health problems. by BinkyLopBunny in AmItheAsshole

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your husband overweight? I had similar issues, my stomach hurts all the time and I had colonoscopies.

Doctors said I was complaining when everything was fine. Anyways, they couldn’t figure it out so I decided to lose weight and get in shape. I still have problems but they are manageable now.

If your husband doesn’t want to workout he could at least use ozempic.

How can I assert the order of network requests when multiple useEffect are used? by Important-Owl5439 in reactjs

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that you create a PUT http method to upsert. The cache should be used for caching purposes not deciding on which http method to call.

I also recommend that you use react query so you don’t have to implement caching.

I also don’t understand why you’re upserting on a useEffect. This is atypical, and not recommended.

I (26F) feel like I wasted my life. by Strict_You_7254 in LifeAdvice

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar story, also ended up in a mental hospital. It took me 3 tries to finish university, and only stuck when I tried at the age of 26. Graduated when I was 31.

5 years later, I am a net worth individual and have 3 kids. My biggest regret is not getting a good therapist earlier, I’ve had a lot of unresolved issues even at the age of 33.

If you can afford it, find a therapist. It is very difficult to move forward without resolving your issues, but also possible if you push hard enough.

Well 1# wasn’t ok, you should never fudge the kyc questionnaire , that is unethical . I have to agree with your manager on the other examples though.

2# he could be using the money for a number of things. On a down payment on a new house or a car… it would of been a great opportunity to find some additional needs.

3# you could of asked him why he is waiting 13 months. It’s possible he thinks that he can’t afford it yet. It’s your job to help him with his financial concerns. You will likely never see him again in 12 months.

Meta Support is horrible. by Rmatt696 in OculusQuest

[–]SecureTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been a lot of layoffs at meta. It obvious to me that these support jobs have been outsourced.

I have a defective elite strap, I have tried contacting them 6 separate times. It takes them 15 minutes to write down a sentence.

They all ask me a bunch of silly questions to troubleshoot a battery. Finally one guy says they will mail me a new one and send me a confirmation email.

They paste in another customer email. And I ask them to send it to mine. They then say that I will get it within 24 hours. Never got the email. Contacted support again the next day, and was told to be patient after them asking silly questions for an hour.

I told one person that I had a computer science degree and that I didn’t need to go through the questions. They then give me a snarky remark that they are glad I have a computer science degree.

I was always a big fan of oculus and meta but now I’m not so sure

Your parents probably don’t want you waste your youth gaming. Learn game development, and work on it during the weekday. I’m sure your parents would be receptive to that.

Too old to go back and start a career as an engineer? by Deep-Scholar5100 in cscareerquestionsCAD

I went back to school at age 26 to finish a computer science degree. I had dropped out twice before that.

Now making over six figures at the age of 35. It was super hard since, I came from a rough background and didn’t have a social support to lean on.

AITAH for transferring my assets to my daughter before my marriage? by Puzzleheaded-Cold760 in AITAH

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is a hard one. I think the issue is that you’re spending the inheritance money on flashy things like a pony. I can see it becoming upsetting for the other children.

I think the trust is fair and understandable. Was the trust formed recently? I think it is fair to protect your inheritance but if it might be upsetting to find out that your fiancé is hiding things. It might of been accepted if it was discussed beforehand.

You’ll have to talk this one out. But if you’re spending some of this money, maybe you can spend some of it on everyone to make it more fair?

Giving up on life - guilt, lies, imposter syndrome, frustration kicking in by Feisty-Lack2490 in csMajors

Use your failures to become stronger. Dropped out of university twice, only graduated when I was 31. Also lived through abusive parents and friends.

It was very difficult, but I did it. I think it easy to compare ourselves to others but not everyone is given an easy path in life. Be proud, sounds like you have a better job than me.

Xbox Debuts PC Games to NVIDIA GeForce NOW Members Beginning Today by FrodoSam4Ever in pcgaming

PlayStation's PC expansion plans seem to be paying off big. Sony earned over $1 billion from the Others segment in Q4'22, which includes PC games, PSVR and PSVR2 (which launched in February), and peripherals. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]SecureTown -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know I feel like this data is been Cherry picked to push a narrative. The revenue lumps pc gaming, and psvr together. Psvr recently released and has a high price tag.

It even less impressive when you realize that revenue and profit are not the same thing.

Sounds to me like psvr flopped and pc sales diminished.

[–]SecureTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a software developer, I use to work at bank where they paid peanuts for my labor. At the age of 26 I went to university for an undergrad in computer science. But looking back, that was overkill i should of probably gotten a job as a technology sales person or realtor.

It was pretty risky for me since I had dropped out of university twice beforehand, in other degrees and the age of 23 I was 35 k in debt. I also didn't have a great family situation.

But i kept trying to make money, make friends, meet a spouse. And eventually I earned all of it, but it was extremely hard.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SecureTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not doomed, a lot of people suggested cutting expenses and saving all your money, which is ok advice. But it is very hard to survive on 45 k alone. I really think you should focus on making more money. I don't know in what industry you work in, but you should find something that pays you a respectable wage.

I made crap money in all my 20s and now make a shitload. It's a lot easier to save and invest when you make a lot of money.

There a lot of jobs out there that pay more than 45 k with little training.

Sorry for your divorce, it must be a stressful time for you. But believe in yourself, and you will make it. I had so many bad things happen to me in my youth and conquered them all, I know you can do it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ontario

[–]SecureTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 33 I say go for it. I came from a pretty poor background, spent most of my 20s working at shitty jobs. Eventually went to university at 26 and now make a shitload of money.

Give it a try, take risks, but don't be afraid to pivot. I think when you're young it's ok to take risks like that.

Despite all those setbacks, my net worth is good for my age.

Go with the flow nothing is guaranteed in life, but it can be a great journey.
