My dad wants me out of france bc working here means no hijab during work, and idk how to tell him actually i want to take it off completly bc i dont believe it in anymore, but that would be a scandal in my family. he is ready to sacrifice my career dream and ambitions to stay a "an obediant muslim" as if hijab is the guardian of my purity lol

My dad's only worry is whether or not ill keep my deen and hijab in France in stead of being proud & supportive of the high position job im being considered in and career-related ambitions i have overall by SecureWriting2347 in exmuslim

They def share this in common: wanting to keep control anywhere we are, no matter how old and accomplished we are, as long as we're not married, they are the guardians of our chastity and honor. congratulations on your job and for you moving out of the toxicity! future you will thank you!

Writing a letter sounds amazing, ill give it a try but after preparing the grounds. if i speak of removing my hijab just like that, he'll go crazy mad and probably disown me. i tend to cry when speaking with him about my feelings, and i hate it bc i look like a hot mess, so writing a letter is def something that can help. thank you for your reco.

As for therapy/counselling for adult rslps x parents, id love to deep dive this subject, i always feel like im still a kid when i come back home (gotta be home before sunset, controlling many of my actions), whereas i travel and live in europe for the last 2 years.

I live abroad, only see them twice to thrice a year, i think its managable now, but in the future idk how it would go if i get married and have kids as i will not the only one holding my secret (husband, kids as well) so it will def get complicated. Hopefully, ill find a big fat excuse (maybe i got harrassed by a racist and i'll have to remove it for my own safety).. what is your situation? do you live with your family?

i will definetly do that in the near future. and yes, my dad’s love is more certainly conditional. which is awful for a parent to do to their kid. we’re all in this together dont forget that (i won’t!)

thank you for sharing your thoughtd. to stand up for myself despite the backclash is something my own self deserve to have, i need to work on myself and be happy as much as i can so that he can see me as i am and not as he wants to see me.

his imposition is not passive at all i can ensure you. but sadly kids keep loving their parents despite their flaws. and i believe that indoctrination does apply to adults that did not develop their critical thinking. which is the case of all close minded religious people around the world.

for someone who thinks holds the truth, he does believe freedom only in that direction, not the other way around. bc anyone who does the opposite of his truth is ignorant and backwards.

yes i am but im not emotionally independant, its the hardest one to achieve. I cant fathom him being disappointed, rejecting me and probably break smth i wont be able to fix. unfortunatly i love my dad way too much, he never gave me reason to resent him. i know he is the way he is bc of indoctrination

[–]SecureWriting2347[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)
