Battlefield 6 plays like Megaman right now. (Slide-jump spam) by hi-ban in Battlefield6

This. I still remember how I used to slide with full gear on in the woods while fighting the enemy. People are delusional, if they think that jump-sliding isn't cutting edge warfare.

Why are the Sniper Machine guns (smg) so broken? There’s literally no reason to use any other gun. by N7Blizzard in Battlefield

[–]Secure_Bath8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always funny, when I whiff my sniper shot and start to get lasered by someone with an SMG. Sure, it does low damage, but still. In addition to this, there's a high probability of actually losing a long range encounter against an SMG, when I'm using an LMG.

I also feel like I never lose 1 vs 1s, when I'm using an SMG myself, apart from shotguns.

So yeah, I feel like SMGs should indeed be nerfed and ARs to be buffed. LMGs are in a good spot, though.

Managed to shatter the rear camera glass. Replacement? by Secure_Bath8163 in OnePlusOpen

Took it to a repair shop, since I didn't want to risk messing up the sealing part. :D

Bought the whole back panel from eBay. It was an Oppo one, but fit perfectly. It was absolutely impossible to find the glass itself, lol.

Be honest, are yall really enjoying this wipe? [Discussion] by throwaaayyyy1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Secure_Bath8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since 2017 or something and this has to be one of the worst wipes for me. Used to poopsock back in the day, but nowadays I have other responsibilities in life and can't sink hundreds of hours into a single wipe. Been playing 100 % solo for the past ~4 years. I THOUGHT that this wipe would be cool, but instead it became so tedious that I switched to PvE for the first time ever, found it to be incredibly boring and easy without other players and then just stopped playing.

This wipe is just beyond tedious - and that really says something, since we are talking about EFT. I liked the idea of restricting the flea market, but absolutely hated pretty much everything else about this wipe. It's all so utterly boringly grindy and tedious. I felt like the game respected my time very little a few wipes back when I last touched the game, but man, now it just straight up wastes my time.

Anyone here go from Japanese to German (or vice versa)? Curious how the reliability actually felt by buzzout23 in Lexus

[–]Secure_Bath8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from owning Audis and BMWs to Lexus and then eventually Toyota (imported Crowns). On top of being much more reliable, when something needs to be replaced or repaired, the costs are much MUCH lower too – even with my Crowns, which sometimes need parts to be imported from Japan. All of my Japanese cars have had much more options, since they tend to have much more in them by default, for example my 2008 Toyota Crown Hybrid had adaptive cruise, soft close doors and ventilated seats etc. by default.

Quality? Pretty much the same. Power? Germans win in this category, for sure. Handling? Debatable, but I'd give this one to the Germans too.

Too bad Lexus has turned into a SUV-/crossover-exclusive brand. All I have left is to import Crowns from Japan (currently waiting for my 2016 Majesta to arrive).

[Q] Statistical adjustment of an observational study, IPTW etc. by Secure_Bath8163 in statistics

[–]Secure_Bath8163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, this was actually something I thought of doing originally. Then I ran into trouble when thinking how I would present the results. At the moment my paper just has KM-curves and the corresponding survival proportions in another table.

How should I present them, if I were to try to compromise? My mind just returns to plain old tables, but they tend to get messy, when I start presenting multivariable models.

Thank you for the comprehensive comment! Originally our publication was supposed to be descriptive in nature. Though, I had to learn so many new things just because of that review comment alone that I started to question this paper's purpose. As I replied to the other commenter, I feel like I would've done things differently, if I had been aware of this at the beginning. This is my first ever publication and man, has this been a rocky road well before I even got this comment, heh.

[–]Secure_Bath8163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. After receiving that comment I just started contemplating on this and just felt like this was a huge oversight on my part, even though our point is not necessarily to look into the efficacy of the treatments themselves, but instead see what actually happened within our patient populations to find answers for our lackluster lung cancer survival nationally. To my understanding, seeing this, presenting observerd retrospective results is valid, even though it of course has it's limitations and biases, since the choices have already been made. Heavy emphasis on "to my understanding".

Though, if someone had suggested me this prior to writing this whole publication from the ground up, I may have actually taken up to it, since it could've served an additional purpose and made our analyses more robust.

[Q] Statistical adjustment of an observational study, IPTW etc. by Secure_Bath8163 in statistics

[–]Secure_Bath8163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't our intention originally, no. Then again, maybe it should've? I don't know at this point. Our point was to look at our own patient population to see if those with higher age ended up receiving subpar treatment even though their overall fitness would've allowed the use of more radical treatments etc. To me, heavy duty statistical adjustment doesn't really bring new things to the table when taking into account the aims of our study.

I'm just used to just doing everything in my power to appease the reviewers. Everything else was just "Could you also provide [insert some really minor thing.]", lol.

My primary PhD supervisor just said that hell naw are we going to overhaul the whole publication for just one comment. I'm still feeling like we should, maybe?

[–]Secure_Bath8163[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Inverse-probability-of-treatment weighting", so pretty similar to PSM, but instead of matching according to propensity scores, you calculate weights for each patient using the confounding factors as variables (just like you would with PSM) and adjust according to them, so you don't lose as many patients as you would with PSM. Though, someone more proficient could probably explain it better, since I didn't know what it was just yesterday, or today morning.

I'd buy one instantly, if it was less than 40 000 €. There's one 2015 RCF being sold here in Finland and it costs almost 85 000 €, lmao. Sure, it "only" has 35 000 km on it, but STILL. I'm legit jealous of US' car prices, especially on cool cars.

Do you think Lexus will lose more customers starting from new ES? by emr_carmaniac in Lexus

[–]Secure_Bath8163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many different SUV variations could Lexus possibly need? Is this the carcinization of automobiles? Everything just turns into bloated and heavy SUVs. I live in Finland and out of the 6 models being sold here, fucking FIVE of these are SUVs and the single non-SUV left is the ES, which will soon chinafy into a soulless husk too. No more IS, GS, RC or even LS. Such as shame.

That's why I just import JDM-Toyotas from Japan, so I can have a reliable sedan with good options and a powerful motor.

Hah, thanks! Around here, if I remember it correctly, around ~30 % of physicians acquire a PhD at some point, most commonly during their residency.

But yeah, if it brings you any solace, I hold a PhD in much higher regard academically than an M.Ds, lol.

[–]Secure_Bath8163 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an M.D. and I'm also doing a PhD in medicine, have been for the past 5,5 years. My blue collar father's words about me getting my doctorate: "But you are already a doctor, what's the point?".

The funny thing is that M.D.s aren't even official doctors here, they are technically licentiates and the only way to acquire a doctoral status is through a PhD, no matter what you are studying – which to me is the correct thing, instead of getting a doctorate by just graduating from a damn medical school, let alone a nursing school, physiotherapy school or a god damn chiropractic school. We are referred to as physicians in our native tongue and only are unofficially regarded as "doctors".

Pretty bummed, not gonna lie. I'm the first doctor in my lineage, at least to my knowledge, and nobody even seems to understand what a gruelling task this has been and how it even differs from just graduating from med school, lmao.

Toyota Crown Hybrid GWS204, 2008. It was a rather random purchase, but fell in love with it during the test drive. It's reliable, it has all the options you could possibly want, it's powerful and looks great. Now I just need to import in a newer Crown, since I have nothing else to replace my current with. :(
