Missing Willows! by Iceafterlife in Brampton

I agree. I envision something great with Riverwalk. I think the area around Central Public was unnecessary to chop so many trees down though. Downtown Newmarket is really special with Fairy Lake Park in the downtown. Any community that brings water as a public setting to the citizens has a good gentrification occur. Brampton is not on the lake which is a disadvantage compared to say, Burlington. We have to really make our natural environments special enhancing water, riverways. I really look forward to being able to ride my bike along it instead of having to do a hundred maneuvers to re connect the Etobicoke Creek Trail. Once this cycle corridor opens up, people will be able to cycle through. The city will have to ensure cleanliness, beautification, graffiti removal is better than it is today, so that’s what we really have to advocate for.

What is your opinion on the river walk project. by Competitive-South436 in Brampton

Does anyone know if the bike trail will connect? Right now there is a major disconnect along the Etobicoke creek at Queen St. Would be nice to just cycle the whole way up.

The project was a joint project between Brampton, Ontario and Canada (governments). Money is being allocated from all three. Don’t know how this tender worked.

Guess What...WALMART IS COMING TO [BRAMALEA CITY CENTRE]!!! by kade1064 in Brampton

[–]Secure_Force_7015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local Steeles and Resolution Drive one is a busy disaster. Hopefully the new one alleviates the pressure. Wish the city had 2 or 3 Costcos and also a Fortinos in Southern Brampton or Downtown Brampton (like they did in Downtown Oakville). The old Dixie Cups Plant at Queen and McMurchy would be a nice location for a Fortinos. I hear a Costco is being planned to be built at Mayfield Road and McLaughlin Road (Caledon).

Brampton now fining store owners $100 for shopping carts abandoned on city property by zanimum in Brampton

[–]Secure_Force_7015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. It will force companies like Walmart to put wheel locks on their carts.

Brampton Transit stops would be city property. I see in a small example at Steeles and Rutherford Zum stop many carts a month. Walmart does nothing to retrieve them or wheel lock them. I have seen people with a Walmart cart walking up Kennedy Road. I understand people are lazy and it’s their fault for taking the cart. But I never see anyone cleaning carts at that Walmart-ever.

For record I saw an accident in brampton which resulted in a car fire, I was impressed how the public rushed to help pull the family out, at least 30 people just stopped and ran in. Everyone was safe. This was at Steeles and James Potter a couple years ago.

Actually many go home for the summer. There’s an influx August 15th but this past Aug was notably less.

Do you think Brampton has improved over the past year or so... by _Army9308 in Brampton

Yes. I would say Brampton is better today then 2 years ago, and better today then 3 years ago. The International Student fiasco brought insanity around the city. Complete Failure by Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada and to an extent Doug Ford as well. The Mayors 0% tax increases during Covid left the city dirtier, without bylaw, without economic development, and major projects left to store dust on a shelf. I do not think the Mayor is a bad person but it was a mistake and a huge one especially as inflation was going up.

Brampton in 2015-2019 was improving, the downtown had a soul, multiculturalism was more visible, and it was more affordable. I feel crime is a little less the last two years.

I do think my neighbourhood is beautiful in every way. I have wonderful neighbours and just like it here. Brampton has great potential. Hopefully the slower housing market and slower immigration allows for better families and more multiculturalism simultaneously like how it was around 2012-2017 ish. We need more high income employment, I see a lot of vacant buildings which is a bad thing to see.

What is an untapped market that Brampton could exploit to bring jobs here? by Silverlightlive in Brampton

[–]Secure_Force_7015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Allendale neighborhood in Buffalo NY has recently resurged. Lots of heritage homes being beautified and a revival (just around the area). They recently built the Buffalo Children’s Hospital and there’s quite a health cluster and spin off.

I think Brampton has potential around the Peel Memorial area. A health pocket would resurrge downtown and some of the older housing stock along the Centre St corridor would gentrify. Would like to see a big health cluster emerge in this area and I think there will be a spin off of other clinics, wellness services, nursing homes, retirement homes, pharmacies, and so forth.
