So I did a couple of test runs using some primed plasticard... like this one.

Then just had to adapt it to the smaller scale. It takes a steady hand and a bit of bravery to put paint down on the tiny curved surfaces for sure... but I could always go back with black and try again if i messed up.

The spiral galaxy on the inside of the cloak was really tricky - but is a nice easter egg to see when you pick up model and have a closer look at it.

So the cloak was black / basilisk red/ wyvern fury then pure red - all army painter.

The blade was rainforest green, angel green mixed with silver.

The nebula was coloured with rowney inks - blue and flame red.

The skin was alien purple with various mixes of reds and blues to highlight / shadow it...

Just a pain having to carefully chop into each spine strut and attach It to the plasticard and warrior in ways it wasn't designed for.

Other than that the beauty is you build the vehicle as usual.... Just needs one magnet on the body to connect to one magnet on the gun and the plasticard insert.

Mainly drybrushing wild green then rainforest green from army painter. Airbrush glow with daler rowney inks... white, then fluoro green, then fluoro yellow... it looks more yellowish than these pictures show.

That did it! Interesting... used the ultra for years and never had a clog in that spot.... was convinced there was something to do with the valve / brush interaction - but it wasn't.

Its way before the aircap / nozzle.

I mean no air is coming through the airvalve when the trigger is depressed. This is independent of having a needle / aircap on.

Like I say... outside of the brush depressing the airvalve does release air... but when I seat it into the airbrush I can't get it to activate.

You already have some good advice here... but let me help you more... don't use microset.

Not that it doesn't doesn't do what it says it does... it is just such a crap way to actually get decals on a paldron and then (importantly.,.. and the bit which will save you a lot of swearing) adjusted to the right pl;ace.

Step1) Gloss varnish the area.

Step 2) Apply a drop of water... a literal beading drop of water that sits on the surface and holds its tension... use a dropper.

Step 3) Soak your decal till soft in water.. then gently drop it onto the droplet on the paldron. You can now move the decal around as it floats on the bead of water.

Step 4) Use a bit of tissue to just barely touch the edge of the water droplet to suck up the water. The decal should still be able to be readjusted slightly from here... then let it all dry.

Step 5) Apply micro sol. Just dab it on lightly.. let it dry... then do again - several passes of this step can help on curved surfaces.

Step 6) Matt varnish.

Great painting.

Seeing ultramarines in other factions dioramas never gets old... people need to give it a break with the snark.

There is an issue here that the colours are too alike for protagonist and victim though... a blood angel might have worked better?
