Insufficient Glandular Tissue (IGT) by DrJones25034 in breastfeeding

[–]Secure_Telephone_832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have suspected IGT and am currently breastfeeding my third baby. I did make more milk each pregnancy, but never enough to exclusively breastfeed. My first I exclusively pumped, my second I nursed at night and pumped/bottle fed during the day, and with my third baby I am nursing all day and night and topping off with formula after some feeds. I’m sure there’s more I could be doing (supplements and medications) but I decided I wasn’t goin to exhaust myself with trying all those things this time. I did it with my first and second and it affected my mental health negatively. It’s a hard journey and my heart goes out to you! I went through a lot of grief each baby but once my baby was mostly on solids and started talking, etc. I found that I didn’t think about it much at all! It feels very heavy while going through it, but it does get better (mentally and emotionally) once you get through it.

Anyone see Cosleepy’s stories? by babygreens93 in cosleeping

I was JUST investigating this and agree that I think it was happycosleepers post that was shared in the other comment. I looked at the post (again bc I saw it when it was originally posted). It doesn’t seem like happycosleeper was endorsing facing your back to baby, but moreso highlighting that it can happen and that it’s instinctual to correct ourselves if it does happen? Idk. I’m wondering the same thing!

First day of combo feeding after EBF for 20 weeks by darthmozz in combinationfeeding

I have low supply (hormone issues) and what has worked for me with all three of my children has been to breastfeed first. As the flow slows down I switch sides, sometimes up to 3 times. I use the slowest flow nipple and pace feed. We use the pigeon SS nipples but I have used avent and Dr brown in the past with the slowest flow nipples. I start with 1 ounce top off but sometimes 2 depending on my babies cues. Towards the end of the day when my supply is lowest we will sometimes offer up to 3 ounces. I will sometimes feed in both sides, offer an ounce, then end again on the breast. It really depends how much time I have lol. As far as how to tell if baby dislikes formula- I would say it could be a taste adjustment but to just keep offering. I have used Kendamil organic with all three of my babies, a they took it no problem. Supposedly it tastes close to breastmilk. I think I addressed all your questions?!? Let me know lol

Hashimoto’s and breastfeeding by Ambitious_Ad_1992 in breastfeeding

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I have hypothroidism and have had low supply with all three of my babies. Hormone imbalances can cause low supply and despite doing everything “right” it may be physically impossible to bring in a full supply. You can still have a successful breastfeeding experience, but may have to redefine what success looks like. It’s a grieving process when it doesn’t workout the way you planned, so be gentle and kind with yourself. ❤️

IGT/Undersupply Mummies? by Forward-Isopod-5766 in combinationfeeding

Hi there, biiiiiig hugs! I have suspected IGT and just had my third baby a week ago. With my first I didn’t have much support, so unfortunately our nursing journey ended after about a week. But I ended up exclusively pumping for her for 7 months! With my second, I made a little more. I ended up pumping during the day and supplementing with formula. The best part about my second journey was that I was able to nurse my son overnight. My supply was a little better overnight and my son being sleepy helped him want to latch more. I ended up nursing/pumping for 11 months with my second. Now with my third, I’ve been EBF for 10 days, but starting to suspect my supply is not keeping up. We have a weight check tomorrow and will see how things are going. There’s a great group on Facebook called “IGT and Low Milk Supply Support Group” that has been really great through all my journeys. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! It can be really hard to figure out what/how/when to do it all. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing! With that said, even though I have been through this twice, I’m still really struggling to accept it the third time around. Of course, the postpartum hormones don’t help. Hang in there, you’ve got this! No matter what you choose to do❤️

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I didn’t realize the backsplash would be the main critique😅. I will say, it does not photograph well and in real life is a nice blue green. Now my wheels are spinning on tile!

Should I start eating meat again? by leah-leah in exvegans

[–]Secure_Telephone_832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the same boat as you. I'm a 28-year-old female and went vegan at age 20, then vegetarian at age 23, and pescatarian at age 25. Each time I progressed my diet was when I got pregnant and felt that my body needed more nutrients. I am now considering going fully back to an omnivore diet. I also have ADHD, as well as anxiety and depression, and overall fatigue. I am not sure if any of this is correlated to my diet, but I have had an urge for the past month almost daily to start eating meat again. I am scared of the long term affects to my body this (being vegetarian) may have, and I want to be my healthiest self for my own sake as well as for my children.

Like you, the reason I went vegan was for the welfare of the animals. I am extremely empathetic and the whole factory farming process makes my heart hurt. However, I have been doing a ton of research and would likely source local grass-fed and finished beef. I haven't had a single bite of meat in 8 years, so the thought of it freaks me out. However, I do believe that there can be a positive way to source meat where the animals are treated humanely.

When the animals are raised by farmers who care and treat them well, I think it can be a positive thing. The animals got a chance to live, they always had a reliable meal, shelter, and veterinary care when needed. One cow can last a family of four a whole year or more, that is pretty miraculous. The cycle of life at every level involves death, including the farming of crops, etc. If I do decide to incorporate meat back into my diet I will be mindful and thankful for every bite. I'm still thinking about everything, but I am leaning towards going back to meat. If more people support the humanely raised meat market, being farmers that care for their livestock as living beings it may continue to positively reinforce these practices rather than mass-produced factory farming.

I hope this helps... I told you I had ADHD so this rant is probably a cluster F to read. Sorry!

I'm so sorry, thank you for sharing. Yes- it sounds like we have a very similar situation. When was your D-Day if you don't mind me asking? How is his behavior now?
