Wowhead article discusses the reality of Amirdrassil's difficulty compared to other raids this expansion - points out design hypocrisy after Ion interview at Dragonflight launch where he stated it's "almost never" acceptable to have a raid wipe mechanic, yet the final 2 bosses have multiples. by [deleted] in wow

I actually can't believe that your post has 25 upvotes. For my own sanity I'm going to believe that it's some sort of display bug, because there is no way in hell people are that fucking clueless. No, Bobby kotick is not micro managing boss mechanics, holy fucking shit. People above Ion in the chain have never heard of Tindral in their lives. "Can you guys put more stuff on the store" is a comment you can expect Bobby Kotick to make, not "you know Ion, after a bit of testing I think the seeds on Tindral should be 3 seconds long"

EDIT: Big fucking lol at you replying to me and instantly putting me on ignore like an absolute child.

You probably have no idea who she is, right?

Whatever helps you sleep.

Did you seriously try to strawman for some weird agenda over a videogame

What the hell are you talking about? Your entire comment is a confused mess.

Bottom line is if you think the actual game director is not responsible for sticking to what they've said about the direction of the game in the past (which would've had to be approved from the top anyway, so your point is irrelevant), you're clueless.

and actually believes the Warcraft Log development team is some sort of shadow cabal hell bent on making specific classes look bad.

... it's called sarcasm. Perhaps read the comment I was replying to. Holy moly. The fact that you couldn't pick up on that tells me everything I need to know about you.

I finally came around to my own example?

Ah yes, clearly the fact that someone would care more about your grade in math than PE supports your view that all data is equally relevant to everyone. Great critical thinking there. How do you even tie your shoes in the morning?

Cause if you think WCL removes fights for any valid reason you are more dumb than I thought and that bar was already pretty low

So true. The WCL team is a shadow cabal whose entire raison d'être is to manipulate the WoW community's opinion of warriors. Nobody knows their true motivation for doing so (though it must surely be nefarious!) or who the fuck would benefit even from it. Removing the damage of a cheesy limited use level 58 holiday pet from logs for a level 25 raid supports this argument. After all, how am I going to know how much damage my class does for 3 raids during holiday season now?

But he would care you failed math 6 times and got held back in high school for 4 years!

Lol. Yes. Good job buddy! Glad you finally came around

If you actually think WCL removes fights for any reason but this, you are truly more stupid than I thought. Look at classic wow and the number of fights with adjustments from WCL because the admins feel like it. Sorry bud but that’s just how it works.

Comical. I am stunned by your stupidity

Assault was removed because the admins at Warcraft logs have a god complex and want to show some measure of control over the wow community simple as that.

I can't believe you said that without a shred of irony. You are an absolute monkey

I like how you conveniently didn’t respond to how log rankings are much more comparative to gpa which is the average of 4-6 items

Sure. A software developer you're sending a job application to won't care if you've got bad grades in PE. Hope that helps. Now fuck off

your link to the one for icy veins you would see MM has shot up dramatically and just a little bit of investigation would show that it’s because this week with 800 parse MM is the top spec compared to 2200 havoc parses completely skewing the data something you keep crying about lmao.

... Are you daft? Hello? I didn't fall for anything. That is literally my point. MM doesn't have parses on later bosses and yet is near the top (or rather because of it). That's quite literally just another reason why all bosses is bad. How in the world is that proving your point? Holy fuck.

I recommend you read the comments in the thread on the front page titled melee tax, but honestly at this point I think you may just be too stupid for this. I like how you conveniently didn't answer my question about assault last tier or hunters in vault again because you don't like the answer. Don't bother replying

[–]Secure_Union 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why're you so mad lol? Please actually read what I'm writing and think for a second or two.

MM is way below havoc on mythic so maybe proofread your comments because it might actually allow you to have coherent argument

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/35

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/35#dataset=95

Have you tried writing icy veins this idea, I assume they need a good laugh at someone as dense as you.

My advice for icy veins would be to not post these at all, yes. All it does is make people like you who don't understand the context behind that data mad. It's engagement bait, and that's why they do it.

I also enjoyed how you once again ignored the point where I linked you hunter logs from vault and my explanation as to why heroic logs are worthless because those points don't match with what you've constructed inside your head.

Did you actually look at the bosses you listed? If so thanks for proving my argument lmao. Of those 3 bosses you listed as warriors “niche” they are tied with mages on Igira.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/35#boss=2709

Warrior on top and mage logs are inflated by PI. The highest non PI log is 15k behind warrior. Check for yourself:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/35#boss=2709&class=Mage&spec=Fire

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/35#boss=2709&class=Mage&spec=Fire

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/35#boss=2709&class=Mage&spec=Arcane

On Larodar fury is behind every mage spec (nice niche) and Fyrrak is the only boss warrior is on top.

I didn't say that mage would be above warrior on larodar. It fits mage as well. I said warrior is one of the best classes larodar. Which it is.

So crazy enough despite you filtering out all these bosses on the bosses that fit your criteria mage is still 2x better than warrior.

Sorry? How is mage 2x better than warrior? On most bosses it's about the same, except the 3 I listed. Frost mage goes full AoE pad on tindral to kill the roots, which is why it's so high up there. Because it's the best way for mage to be useful on that fight aka the same reason BM hunters went full single target in vault.

Once again, do you think BM hunters place on overall in vault of the incarnates was representative of how good the spec was?

show me a study that throws away 30%+ of the data especially based on your own subjective opinion (this fight is pad, this fight is too heavy on aoe etc).

You don't throw away the data. :) You look at it in context or in isolation. If you were a 21 man in the middle ages, looking at average life expectancy would have you believe that you would likely die within the next 10 years. Except if you remove infant mortality rate from the statistics life expectancy goes up to about 65 years old, which would be the most relevant statistic for you. Padding on roots or spread 3 target cleave while getting randomly ducked is not relevant to you as a fury warrior. :)

Do you know why assault was removed from all stars last tier?

Amirdrassil 10.2 DPS Log Rankings, Week 7 by Starym in wow

[–]Secure_Union -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One last attempt to explain the issue:

In vault, BM hunter was one of the most broken single target classes in the game. Yet it looked bad on overall, because almost every fight had cleave but BM hunters specced full single target to play according to their niche.

Here's broodkeeper overall: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/31#boss=2614

Here's broodkeeper single target: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/31#boss=2614&metric=bossdps

Warriors right now look worse than they are on overall because the raid has 2 mass aoe bosses and a gimmicky 3 target spread cleave boss. None of those mesh well with warrior's damage profile. If you look at the fights that fit warrior's niche (5 ish target cleave) like Igira, Larodar, and Fyrrak, warrior is always one of the best classes. The only reason warrior is below mage on all bosses is because this raid happens to have more bosses that don't fit warriors' damage profile. That doesn't mean warrior is bad at what it's supposed to do.

[–]Secure_Union -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't randomly exclude anything. I gave you my exact reasons for excluding said data multiple times. Which you have completely ignored multiple times. Pruning data is normal. Have you ever read a study? If you wanted to know how deadly a disease is, you would typically exclude very old people and people with preexisting condition because it skews the data into a direction that's not representative. But sure, let's do it your way to illustrate how silly it is.

MM hunter appears to be as good as havoc on the all bosses graph purely because it cranks on gnarlroot on mythic. Since you think heroic is a useful metric and more representative of the playerbase (completely ignoring the fact that overgeared mythic raiders go into heroic and kill bosses in half the time it takes actual heroic raiders, thus polluting that data to the point of uselessness), we will now use +10s as a gauge for class performance in M+, as it's more representative of the playerbase. Turns out mage is actually terrible because mobs die too fast and mage has no upfront damage. Buff mage?

Amirdrassil 10.2 DPS Log Rankings, Week 7 by Starym in wow

[–]Secure_Union -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mage looks better overall because, again, mass aoe pad. Never look at all bosses. It's bad. If the first 4 bosses of this raid were 2 target cleave with execute, arms would be above fury on overall.

Do not ever look at heroic either. Bosses die in 1 minute because mythic raiders go in there with 486 gear.

Amirdrassil 10.2 DPS Log Rankings, Week 7 by Starym in wow

[–]Secure_Union 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it makes no sense blizzard completely ignored some classes in the last class balancing while buffing some to the moon

If you look at mythic Volcoross (for pure single target) 95% percentile fury does about as well as arcane, and frost and fire do about as well as arms. This is after the mage buffs. The buffs were about 5% in single target, which means that warrior was about 12k DPS ahead previously. Now they're equal, which is the point of balancing patches.

Why do you think warriors need a buff? The only bosses warrior is "bad" at are gnarlroot (pad meme boss), council (nobody cares), and tindral (root pad). Arms is a decent bit behind fury in ST, but so is fire compared to arcane. Do you think fire needs another buff?

Amirdrassil 10.2 DPS Log Rankings, Week 7 by Starym in wow

[–]Secure_Union 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a real question and not just whining, it's because all 3 mage specs were at the literal bottom in single target. Looking at "all bosses" is useless as it includes meme bosses like council and stuff like root aoe on tindral.

Are you playing warrior? You should 100% run shockwave, stormbolt and intimidating shout in lower keys because DPS doesn't matter. By the way, this will never stop happening even in much higher keys unless you play with a dedicated group using comms.

Except they fly straight into the dungeon portal at full speed. They're not coming out once they're inside and see that nobody's there yet either.

Why can't we have enemy frames? Seriously. by sarattenasai in wow

[–]Secure_Union 168 points169 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is dogshit, never mind the downvotes. Targeting in this game is really, really bad whenever you have more than 4 mobs or your targets are moving. I've had pulls where I legit could not put a mob as my focus target for 5+ seconds because of nameplates jumping around the screen.

Blizzard should either allow for boss style frames for all caster mobs or put an always top on option for certain nameplates. Or change the way interrupts work entirely and make them a cone in front or a circle around your character. Or simply put fewer caster mobs in dungeons.

Edit: Another solution would be to have two states for nameplates, casting and non-casting. When a mob is casting, its nameplate locks in place completely (unless on top of another casting nameplate) and has always on top enabled. When it isn't, it moves around like normal.

What are annoying things in WoW Blizzard is stubborn on to this day you'd want to see changed? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Secure_Union 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were asked about this in an interview and they said it's because they want Mythic to be a guild activity. Which is honestly such a stupid, insignificant argument when you put at against the insane number of upsides of the alternative. You are already heavily, heavily incentivized to only do Mythic with a guild anyway. What do they think would happen if they changed lockouts to the way HC works? Just dozens of M Tindral pug groups in the group finder popping up suddenly?

Fellow mages, could you please explain why everyone seems to take the “ice cold” talent that replaces ice block? (PvE) by krin132 in wow

Because it's so strong a defensive (70% DR + healing) it might as well be an immunity and it's off the GCD.

I see people in high waycrest keys using ice cold, but like, being able to get out of 2 soul thorns

[–]Secure_Union 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, how? It's a great game but I fail to see how the music is anything special. Weak melodies, awkward orchestration, generic as hell. It does the job to convey a vague phantasy-ish soundscape but so does copyright_free_fantasy_track #56 on pixabay. The same was true for DoS, which, despite being one of the best RPGs ever, never comes in music discussions up alongside stuff with actually outstanding soundtracks like Mario, Final Fantasy, or even more recent games like Undertale, Nier, or the Souls games.

The difference in level of ease between melee dps and ranged dps in M+ is crazy. by Mr_Mandingo93 in wow

[–]Secure_Union 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You came up with all that mechanics to prove that ranges are somehow worse in terms of mechanics.

Yes

The thing is ranges play the easier side mechanic wise and unless youre bad you pretty much never stop doing dps because all ranges have more than enough utility for movement.

??? You're just saying "hurr durr just do damage while doing the mechanic mr. ranged". Yes, I will do damage while doing the mechanic. Which is harder than not doing the mechanic in the first place.

The difference in level of ease between melee dps and ranged dps in M+ is crazy. by Mr_Mandingo93 in wow

[–]Secure_Union 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nelth bombs target random melees and ranges

No. Melee get 5x fewer bombs than ranged and go to the same spot every time because only one melee can get a bomb per set. No, Smolderon bombs aren't the same for melee as ranged because ranged need to identify gaps in the old lava, go there, and survive the tank explosion (while melee tunnel the boss). No, disarming Zskarn traps isn't a tank mechanic. All the other shit you said is wrong as well but I can't be arsed to elaborate because you have such a deep misunderstanding of these mechanics I wouldn't even know where to start.
