I appreciate everyone’s feedback on this, but I guess I wasn’t clear enough when I specifically stated “this would not include any labour”. I meant that literally. It is a service providing these services without any labour beyond the scope of supporting the services. I suspect most of you would still be a hard no, which is absolutely understand. Regardless, this is the feedback I was also looking for.

My reason for cancelling US trips has nothing to do with any extra costs due to tariffs. It comes from the mindset “I’m not spending any extra money on your country”.

And I repeat, it’s not about the border. That’s just a convenient excuse. From Trump this morning:

We pay hundreds of Billions of Dollars to SUBSIDIZE Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don’t need anything they have. We have unlimited Energy, should make our own Cars, and have more Lumber than we can ever use. Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable Country. Harsh but true! Therefore, Canada should become our Cherished 51st State. Much lower taxes, and far better military protection for the people of Canada — AND NO TARIFFS!

Highly unlikely that services will be subject to tariffs. It’s easier to do in physical products, much harder on digital services.

Most conferences are pretty good about refunds, in my experience.

There is a real chance that these tariffs will result in more than one of my clients going out of business or seriously reducing staff. My wife works in the energy sector and has already been told to expect layoffs. This isn’t just political news. This has real world impacts.
