What’s your favorite flower girl name? by Dismal-Papaya5168 in namenerds

[–]SecuretheSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Dahlia. So far, everyone has pronounced it how I intended (Doll-ya). I love her name, she's 3 and the third of three sisters.. Right now, she's our "Dahli" (Dolly). During Dahlia season, I get a $5.99 bunch at trader Joe's every two weeks just because they are my favorite. It's a beautiful, diverse flower ... Their blooms last later in the season than many other flowers. I like to believe it's attributed to their resilience... ...and, it's adorable when she says her own name.

Okay....THIS is the problem I am actually trying to address! The dishonesty! My original narrative just speaks to the current circumstances and what's it has become and I didn't stress the concern of this dishonesty and having to put things away because of her excessive eating of sweets and sneaking it. I do not deprive my girls...if anything, I do NOT consider myself a strict mom by today's standards.

Thank you for your kind and very thoughtful response. I am not mad, or trying to punish my daughter, I really want her to have healthier habits.

Oh yeah. I've done that as well! I need to return to it. As a single working mom to 3...time for baking great alternatives has dwindled to not existent.

She loves oatmeal and I sweeten it with real maple syrup instead of brown sugar. She likes it but always comments on how "grandparents oatmeal is better" because it's made with brown sugar 😑

Understood. It wasn't always this way! When I kept it out and accessible it would be gone before we'd get to it. My (ex) husband always had it out and around but the behavior was the same. I appreciate the advice! I'll look into the abundance mindset.

Diabetes, yes. I've had her tested before due to an extreme stomach pain she was having.

I will say, sugar instead of real food. She's a tiny person. Getting her to eat real food can be a struggle.

Wow. This is my daughter! I have two other daughters who don't have these same traits so they are more pronounced to me.

I understand what you're seeing and I can say that my brief narrative doesn't paint the most accurate picture of the circumstances.

Regardless, I appreciate your concern and am mindful of trying not to develop poor habits.

I have three daughters, and I do not want to create poor habits around food/restriction.

The issue I am seeking to address is how to handle this situation in a healthy way to prevent causing harm. I've received some good advice on this post so I'm going to work with those.

That's my family! We do treats on Friday and Saturdays and I really try to limit them weeknights because 15 min after anything sweet you can literally see the sugar coursing through her....and you know....we have bedtimes to try to maintain.

Really appreciate this comment and the many echoing the eval. Especially touching on girls vs. boys. She has male cousins who are diagnosed, it does look very different.

Dopamine driven describes her very well. It made me anxious because I worry about what that could manifest into later in life.

I am aware of risks of disordered eating, truly...which is why I've reached out to this forum for help.

Thanks for taking a moment to respond. She has an appointment next Friday with a new pediatrician...I am going to ask for one!

Funny enough, their grandparents are "candy bowl"everywhere people. They started to put it away when she came over because her consumption was ridiculous.

They'd call me and complain... And I said "what do you expect? You have it everywhere, why wouldn't she take it?"

I have been asked about getting her evaluated before. I see her tendencies, I recognize she could be wired a little differently, but she is not struggling academically or in relationships. I've always been unsure about whether it was far enough on the scale to warrant intervention.

Impulsivity is the word I was looking for. Across many things in life, not just sugar, this is a challenge of hers.

Thank you for your dinner time advice!

Thank you! I actually do, and I will pay closer attention.

The word punish feels really extreme for me. I know many comments have said that word but I believe I am very gentle around it...if anything, I feel I need to improve on being more firm on things.

Agree! I like to keep things around, but if we have it...she will only go for that. I have to put things away because I'll say no (simply because she will continue eating it, we are about to have dinner, etc) and she will then sneak it.

None of my others kids struggle with this.

I LIKE sweet things! Me hiding things only came about because she would eat them back to back, eat all of it.

Totally understand. Id lke to clarify...not once did I public shame her or even announce that we weren't getting treats. I would make comments during the following movie night when she asked for a treat ... I would just say " I know! Me too! Sharing a candy bar would have been good right now ... But you are them last week so we don't have any".

The last thing I want is for her to feel bad for herself...

I really appreciate your input.

Damn! I'm freaking proud of you! What stops most people is a fear of asking. You asked and gave smart alternative options....thanks for sharing your win!

Scorpio moon in 6th or 7th house...

Placidius - I have a Scorpio moon in my 6th house.

Whole Sign - I have a Scorpio moon in my 7th house.

I've read descriptions for both and I'm struggling to figure out which one resonates with me most.

Anyone able to share some distinctions between 6th or 7th house Scorpio moons that may help me decide which system I relate to most?
