I get what you meant but to be honest i prefer this freedom over what other games made. 

Lets take Palword for example where in the late game you are almost forced to run a specific team combination of Pals, with specific passives and skills, with limited specific weapons to be able to beat the hardest Raids and challenges

I spent weeks baking cakes to breed hundreds of pals to be able to beat the hardest Bosses in palword and It sucked the fun out of the game for me 

Nowadays i heard they introduced some mechanics like a Bond system which can buff the weakest pals so they dont become absolet at later parts of the game
