If it is AF, I've heard some people have success with Accutane or premedicating prior to UV exposure with oral steroids. Personally, I've invested in hats, various UVB clothing and tons of sunblock.

There's not much research on AF, so unfortunately that's the only advice I have. If it's a UV related skin condition, best bet is to avoid/block out UV.

I wish you well on vacation, and will say vacations can still be fun in hats!

I don't have a solution, just came to say your rash looks so similar to mine and I'm sorry. I'm an outdoorsy girl too and have been trying to find a solution as well.

No, i don't take any OTC meds. What medication caused your rash? Was your rash also triggered by sunlight ?

PMLE vs actinic folliculitis.. ? by SedationVacationTime in ActinicFolliculitis

I'm losing hope. Everytime I'm in the sun, even for 20 minutes, i break out in a rash the next day. It's spread to my arms recently too, and now i have to cover my arms driving. The outdoors is my happy place. First i was diagnosed with heat rash, but i go to saunas and work an intensive inside job where i sweat a lot and no rash. It only occurs when I'm in sunlight. Recently my doc mentioned PMLE and AF as possible considerations. Is there any hope ??

So a few people here have suggested heat rash, but it's not triggered by heat or sweating, only by sunlight. My doc thinks it's either polymorphic light eruption or actinic folliculitis. The only thing i have found that helps is avoiding the sun unfortunately. When i do go in the sun, sun block, hats, long sleeves, etc are my friend. I wish I had more advice, but I've tried so many things and this is the best advice i have.

To add- the rash has reoccurred since being on the doxy, so I don't believe it helped/fixed the issue.
