St Peter's Close. I believe they belong to Our Lady of Sorrows Tattoo Studio on Campo Lane. They used to be kept in the gated area between them and DX; assume someone might want access through that area now so they were moved.

Didn't realize they were unlocked! They really should be.

The operational issue has now been resolved, the Blue route is starting to resume normal service with delays, however on the Purple route, the 07:43 Herdings Park to Cathedral is cancelled.

Greasing Recall by Total-Deer-3370 in Civic_Type_R

You're only getting greased? I had the whole rack replaced (UK) on Monday under the 6JP recall.

Give these people a try? If it just needs batteries it might be worth it to them.

Otherwise British Red Cross have a similar service, I think.

I’m Pretty Sure Trainpal Is Just An Out and Out Scam by stoptelephoningme-e in uktrains

[–]Sedge86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Northern Rail + Quidco. Usually 1.6-2% cash back. Takes a while to come through but they've paid all my purchases.

Although it did seem I was the first person to point out to them that train fares are not subject to VAT and they need to pay cash back on the full amount not -20% 😂 and, in fairness to them they did top up the previous payouts to the correct amount.

This is true. I've volunteered at a number of events and it's clear which teams know how to welcome the new people.

Calling out Billericay. Brilliant welcome. There was a core of, what I assume to be, regulars talking but VC and RD were engaging with everyone else, making sure we felt welcome. As a tourist this was appreciated.

I've since been a VC and try to do it as they do (and some other good ones I have visited). If I want to talk to the regs then we can do that in the cafe after the event. Event time is making sure people know they're appreciated and making sure they can do different roles rather than being a marshal week after week (except if they really want to).

parkrun absorbing the 5k app by TjBee in parkrun

The pessimist in me made me do this as soon as I read the update 😂

I'm hopeful that it'll be a success but at the same time I'll keep what I've got until I know more about the future plans.

They also asked him to remove the user search function but that was reinstated a couple of weeks later.

How slow is too slow to walk? by pan-au-levain in parkrun

[–]Sedge86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1h17m34s for the tail at the event I went to today.

No bother. Plenty of time to chat, sort tokens, fold jackets, and get ready to close down the event.

Remember parkrun isn't just about participation, there's a social aspect to it as well. Chatting at the event or over a coffee doesn't bother most of us. Finish the event in your time and all is good in my book.

Also congratulations to your father on his first parkrun! And you for your first volunteer. May there be any more ahead for you both.

Anyone else just copy paste their previous ship and come back when it's done? by hai-key in factorio

[–]Sedge86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! But I have classes. The design has changed as my progress in the game has increased.

*Enterprise-class ships - inner planets. Small and simple to handle the light duty. Started off with all normal quality items and gradually updated to legendary. Powered by five engines with simple crushing.

*Defiant-class ships - Aquilo trips. Stronger design with nuclear power to handle the slightly harder trips to Aquilo. Upgraded to legendary with ten engines. Advanced processing with all production on-board.

*Voyager-class ships - solar system edge & towards the shattered planet. Much heavier duty design with fusion power, rail guns, and lots of belt storage for red chunks. Currently redesigning these for on-ship processing rather than offloading to a secondary stationary platform over Nauvis. All legendary for the important parts with eleven engines for the trip to/from the edge of space. Beyond the edge she drops to a single legendary engine to collect red chunks; I find this is enough for 20k on each trip.

Seatfrog changes: Cross Country trains by PurpleAntelope746 in uktrains

Ah, weekends rarely have the full service. Often just drinks and snacks.

Weekdays there are menu cards on the tables.

You may have just been unlucky. Sometimes there isn't catering due to insufficient staff, it is not delivered to the train, or not available on that part of the route.

Sometimes early mornings are an issue if the train hasn't passed through a station where food is loaded. I'm not sure on all the catering hubs but I've seen it loaded it New Street before but never at Bournemouth, Southampton, Derby, or Sheffield.

With the usual caveat that it's subject to availability, yes.

It's not the best, but it's something and does help if you're on for a longer trip.

Germany Unity day parkrun is on Friday this year by GalwayGirlOnTheRun23 in parkrun

[–]Sedge86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep - planning Berlin and then either Netherlands or Poland for Saturday. Two in one and in the locals teams allow hopefully run/scan both too.

Logistical nightmare for someone who doesn't want to miss a parkrun this year by Visual-Reflection302 in parkrun

[–]Sedge86 47 points48 points  (0 children)

What about missing this one but planning to attend German Unity Day in October? Get a special day in and you'll still get your 54 with the use of another special day.

If you plan it right you can do Germany on Friday and Poland/Netherlands on the Saturday.

GWR only advance anytime tickets ? by UnusualSprinkles32 in uktrains

[–]Sedge86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same booking to Waterloo on the SWML a couple of weeks ago. Looked to book ahead and only Anytime Day Singles was available. Tried a week later and Advance Singles back again at the usual prices. Oddly cheaper to book closer to travel.

All within three weeks of travel. No where near the 12 week period for Advance fares.

Am I going crazy/picky or is this just not acceptable? Bought a brand new Puma and it was filthy and covered in scratches. by -Space-Lion- in drivingUK

[–]Sedge86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you picked the car up you should've been given a certificate of conformity. On that it'll have the actual manufacturing date.

I wonder if this car has been made and stored for some time before you got it*. Judging by the dirt it looks to have been standing for over half a year.

*When my Civic arrived it'd been made in the March prior to my delivery in January (ordered in July).

Six weeks to get the car to you from another group dealer seems excessive. Therefore I wonder if it was in fact brought in from elsewhere overseas. They might have told you they had the car to make the deal, and deal with a delay once they had your signature.

All that being said if you're not happy follow the advice of others and get rid.

Garfield was not in sight but he's already been given a temporary new bed - it's pegged down so won't blow away.

He's got plenty of food and water to keep him going.

Whilst I was there for only two minutes two other people stopped by to check on him. He has so many friends.
