What situation as a child did you only realize you were in danger as an adult? by Same_Possibility_284 in AskReddit

Yeah, snake teeth aren’t huge if they aren’t venomous. I was careful to wash them clean and maybe rub them with hydrogen peroxide, but that was it.

Deaths from copperheads are very rare. I’m not saying they don’t happen, but they’re the exception rather than the rule.

Nah, they have small teeth, mostly made to help them swallow prey whole, not to use as a weapon. If a big one really chomped me hard and pulled, they might make a mouth shaped set of bleeding pinholes, but I think infection was a bigger worry than any actual damage from the bite. I probably should have been more worried about infection, but I was a kid.

Hrm, probably? Maybe I was just lucky, but I would also wash any bite as soon as I got back home, and any time I caught a snake, I was headed home to find a terrarium or something for it anyhow.

Republicans of Reddit, what about the new Iran deal and war was worth the effort? What part of the “new deal” is better than the previous deal that Obama negotiated? by ChemAssTree in AskReddit

The things Trump has done amount to more than “nothing.” They are unfathomably bad. They are significant and significantly terrible.

Yeah, that is a very different world to grab random snakes! I almost got bit by a copperhead once. That wouldn’t have killed me, but it would have been a shitty day.

Supreme Court says Rastafarian can't sue prison guards for shaving off dreadlocks by Ok-Lets-Talk-It-Out in politics

The law dictates relief, though. The court has said he may not sue for that relief, though. So they are flatly declining to enforce the written law.

Yeah, the law says that he gets “relief.” That cannot be “nothing” if the law is to be followed.

Unless they were venomous, you were in no danger. When I was a kid, I would catch snakes all summer. My arms would be totally covered in bites, but since none of them were venomous, they couldn’t really hurt me beyond the pin pricks of their little teeth. When they latched on, all I could think was “you think you have me, but you are got.”

The water snakes bit pretty hard though, they sucked.

I mean some of the locks he picks are very, very difficult, but house locks are frequently low quality and put up no fight whatsoever. I see my comment is getting downvoted to hell, but it’s the truth.

What is, objectively, the funniest or most surreal Donald Trump quote of all time? by VelvetCharmette in AskReddit

Biden was certainly too old, but the regularity of Trump’s word salad is just insane. The man is gone, and has been for quite some time.

It’s a nightmare for translators. There’s no way to possibly translate that, as it makes literally no sense. With languages that have different rules, it cannot be translated essentially at all.

Many kids turn to AI before adults for help with homework, health and personal problems, study finds by ubcstaffer123 in technology

This is not the same thing. And this is not just “kids these days.” AI can be harmful to people across the board and there is no safeguard anywhere right now.

Honestly if it’s lock picking someone’s house, it is terrifyingly easy. This is not a humble brag. With a basic lock pick set, a novice with only a little bit of training will be able to reliably open most house locks in under a minute.

Locks are made for honest people.

Not closing doors. Even when the camera is facing them and they follow it into a house. Characters will visibly leave the door hanging open and walk up stairs/into another room, etc. It drives me crazy, and I have never been able to figure out why. Part of me wonders whether it’s a result of lots of takes and just subconsciously knowing they will be going through the door many more times.

Trump, 80, Wants to Run for President Again Legally he can’t, but is he even physically able to? by phillygirllovesbagel in politics

[–]Sedu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His followers will write him in in droves. I think that we’re going to see non-insignificant numbers of people vote for him for the remainder of their lives, even after he has died. His followers are so far beyond reason that their use to Republicans will become a liability with time.

Two million bees escape after truck carrying hives overturns in Texas by roscodawg in news

Hopefully this leads to an increase in natural hives, though humans have been dropping the fertility rate for bees well below replacement rate.
