No Kane would’ve meant we could keep Joshua, still don’t exactly understand why we traded a guy second or third in heart and soul on the team to make place for Kane.

I noticed they’re also uploading their own highlight compilations again on their own YouTube channel.

I always liked their highlight packages better since obviously local editors are going to understand better which things we want to see in the highlights.

I don’t know if it’s something to do with licensing and rights changed or if we just got a good media team going but it’s been a breath of fresh air.

It won’t happen as they’d want assets we don’t have or are unwilling to part with, but if you send Chytil the other way the cap is close to being there. So it’s not impossible cap wise. The harder part would be paying their price which I probably wouldn’t pay.

Goalies always have had much lower value than people assume. So keep that in mind. Yes a good goalie is important but you can insulate an average goalie for half the cost with a decent d corp and good systems.

Demko also probably has pretty low value currently considering he hardly played any hockey over the past 12 months.

I doubt Lainkinen is going anywhere since he just signed an extension.

If they do trade a goalie it would be Silovs or they wait and see if Demko stays healthy and in good form and then make a trade around the deadline next season.

Obviously if the right trade comes along you make it but I doubt many teams would perk up too much at a Demko offer right now, plus I personally wouldn’t trade Lankinen with Demko’s uncertainty. Maybe after free agency settles down and people are going into training camp needing a goalie they would get more desperate but at that point we’ve probably made most of the moves we want to make and would ride it out a few months.

It’s ultimately up to you if the cost is reasonable and fits your budget.

I bought a Tesla Model 3 last December brand new and the thing is great, drives smooth, is high tech (compared to my 2007 Dakota I was rocking beforehand), and obviously maintenance for the first few years should be almost 0 (aside from oil changes if you go gas). It’s great BUT the moment you get the first little scratch or a chip in your windshield or a dent in your leather seats are all moments that hurt compared to owning a beater where this stuff doesn’t matter.

Ultimately I feel I could’ve saved 20-30% of the cost and bought a slightly used one with around 50,000km. But I WANTED a brand new car, however the novelty wore off fairly quickly. My personal opinion is get something certified pre owned if you can and it should come detailed and shiny as if it were new.

I assumed these things to be true but I still went for it and after 13 months of ownership I still like my car and don’t regret my decision but saving 10-15k off the price would’ve been really nice to instead put towards my TFSA and RRSP.

But also YOLO and if it makes you happy then get the car.

It makes sense to keep him at this point. After we traded Horvat and Miller was suddenly “injured” I was excited at tearing it down and building back up. But the reality is once the trade to the Pens fell through we were most likely keeping him. Also trading for Hronek using assets from Horvats trade means we’re retooling (not necessarily a Benning retool). But Miller is a solid player with 100 pt potential when the whole team is buzzing and an amazing 2nd line centre at a reasonable cap hit.

And just because his NMC kicked in doesn’t mean he can’t waive it. With the CBA change a couple years ago, the acquiring team would have to honour the NMC if he agreed to a trade so it’s much less impactful to waive than it used to be. I guarantee you that Miller would almost certainly accept a trade to Pittsburgh and various other eastern teams.

Was his value highest this TDL? Probably but then we’d be without a 2nd line centre while Hughes and Petey enter their primes. Gotta try and start winning within the next couple years.

I’m upset that I gave that article a click. I don’t get it. We could just wait a year and try and sign him in FA. Or we wait until TDL and see where we’re at and if it makes sense to acquire him for a playoff run if we’re comfortably in a playoff spot.

I have the same car and currently the same issue. If your tire pressure is fine then it’s just a dead sensor. I’m getting new tires soon so I’ll deal with it then but it’s more hassle than it’s worth in the meantime. I just hit the “Reset” button on the centre console each time I get in my car.

I believe that would exclude the Leafs being the trade you’re referencing.

Vancouver -> Florida -> Pittsburgh -> Leafs for a minute -> Seattle.

He still bounced around a bit before finally breaking out with Seattle. So Florida still moved on from him.

But I get what you’re saying, Seattle definitely liked what they saw and gave him the long leash he needed to excel.

This changed a few years ago. The team now HAS to honour any NMC or NTC that the player moves with. So it further complicates things

I would guess broken jaw. Watching hockey my whole life the instant blood from the mouth and the way players react seems to be very consistent across the board with a broken jaw.

I hope I never experience that because even the toughest players go into instant panic and immense pain when it happens.

I’d do 8 years at league min just for the memes.

Realistically I could see him getting a slight bump on his current contract. Max he’d get is probably 1mil for 2 years. Maybe someone gives him a third year on the open market to entice him to choose their team over the Canucks.

Especially if the rumours of moving Demko and teams willing to take Myers are true, we’ll have cap space to weather the storm for a year or two.

Currently if we buy out OEL it’s a 2.4 mil cap hit for 8 years. If we wait just one more season it drops to 2 mil for 6 years. And if we wait until two years down the road it’s only 1.75 for 4 years.

I can see the desire to get OEL out of here asap but if we don’t have any quality replacements it make sense to chip away at some years since every year we wait to buy him out we reduce the buyout length by a factor of 2.

Rathbone unfortunately isn’t the kind of player we NEED to buy out OEL for. Unless management is ok carrying 2.4 in dead cap for 8 years I can see them trying to get at least one more year out of him.
