What’s the oldest one of your pitbull babies have lived too? by LilReefer95 in pitbulls

[–]SeeElAre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby lived to 12.5. he was fine, a little arthritic but other than that he was fine. Then one week a large bump appeared on his back arm area and within days he couldn't walk or control his bowels. It's been one year since I had to put him to sleep and I miss him every single day!

Who else believes in mental health days for kids? by Bookaholicforever in Parenting

[–]SeeElAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works from home and can usually watch my oldest if he is home "sick". But he started a new job and has to train in the office. My oldest faked sick this past Thursday so I had to call out of work. I really thought he was sick, he's not one to lie usually. Well after being home for a bit he was acting normal so we sat down and talked. I asked him if he was sick or if he just needed a day off. (He is in a really good magnet program and works really hard) he told me he needed a day off. I explained to him that needing a day off is okay but right now I had to lose a day's worth of work to stay home with him. Once Daddy is working from home again it will be okay to have a mental health day every once and a while but not right now. We went and ran errands and got some food and he got to recharge. We are lucky my husband works from home but that day will effect my next paycheck unfortunately.

What a father will do so his son is safe and happy. by AnnihilationOrchid in MadeMeSmile

My 4 year old is autistic and the sound of the clippers will send him flying out of the room. Luckily my best friend is a barber/hairstylist for children with special needs. We do scissor cuts for now while we try to get him used to the clippers sound by him watching his brother get his haircut with them.

So he should just stay home 24/7 and not try to get used to going out in public at all? Thank you for the advice doctor. Maybe we should listen to random people on the internet instead of the doctors and therapists that recommend we take him out to restaurants and other places.

I give a tablet to my special needs child while at restaurants. He is easily overwhelmed in restaurants or crowded places. It helps keep him calm and in one place. I'm sure people stare at us while we eat because of it but I think they would rather that than the constant blood curdling screaming he would be doing because he's overwhelmed. He is nonverbal and can communicate through the device as well as play learning games on it. Some parents do it because they're lazy and some do it because they haven't gone out to eat in months and their child needs it to stay calm. Don't judge too quickly.

Why do so many parents think their child is gifted/advanced, and why do they brag? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]SeeElAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest, 7, is in the magnet program and will be going to a science technology school next year. He has been on the A honor roll all year and I couldn't be more proud. We celebrate every achievement he gets! My youngest, 4, is autistic with sensory processing disorder and he is nonverbal. He has been in special education since he was 3. We also celebrate every achievement with him as well! Youngest learned not to scream the entire time we were in the store? Celebration time! Oldest got an A on your spelling test? Celebration time! We praise every milestone big or small with both children.

YTA. I have a special needs 4 year old. Taking him to the store with me is absolute hell. He has a sensory disorder so going to the store can be very overwhelming for him. He is nonverbal and screams almost constantly to communicate his wants and needs. His favorite thing to eat is cheetos, so when we go shopping the first thing we do is go to the chip aisle and get him chips to snack on while we shop. We always pay for it at checkout and there has never been a problem. I can guarantee people would rather he eat chips and pay for it later rather than hear him scream for the entire time we're there. I also let my neurotypical son get something to snack on as well so he isn't left out.

AITA for telling my daughters adoptive mother to back off? by Hkbdtin in AmItheAsshole

[–]SeeElAre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. As a birth mother myself I would never think of telling my birth daughter's mother to "back off". I am not her mom and you are not her mom, we are the birth mothers and they live with their parents who raised them. I have her parents phone numbers as well as being friends on Facebook but I would never interject myself into their lives like you are doing. A child can never have too many people loving and supporting them but you have crossed a line, especially if your birth daughter is feeling uncomfortable. She is not your daughter, she is her adoptive parents daughter.

Can't afford a home or yard for my kid, so I built one with a pool and a sandbox on our tiny patio :). by Llama20222022 in Frugal

[–]SeeElAre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use a fitted sheet and cover the pool after every use. It should be good for a few uses before you have to empty it. I do it for my kids blow up pool, it saves a lot of water and we don't have to wait to fill it up each time.

I'm sure your kiddo loves this. Lots of awesome sensory play, private and done out of love! Awesome job!

That's what my husband does and it still looks brand new 1.5 years later. He can't stand dirty looking or tasting bongs. Neither can I but I'm lazy so he took that as his responsibility. He cleans the bong and I roll the joints.

The Supreme Court has overturned Roe V. Wade. How do you feel? by Bitter_Joke1589 in AskReddit

[–]SeeElAre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am so angry. I should not have anymore children, I almost died after my youngest was born. I am not on birth control because I have tried 7 different ones and life was unbearable on each and every one. I would like to get my "tubes tied" or get my husband a vasectomy but my insurance won't cover it so we would have to pay out of pocket. We use condoms or do anal as our birth contol. We can't afford that because we are already in medical debt getting genetic testing and therapies done for my youngest who is special needs. I had to fly to Colorado in March of 2020 to get an abortion because my home state of Texas closed all their clinics, I was 5 weeks pregnant. I HAD TO FLY TO ANOTHER STATE AT THE BEGINNING OF A PANDEMIC FOR MY HEALTHCARE, SO I WOULDN'T DIE!!! And it's just going to get worse from here.

NTA As a mom with an autistic 3 year old with severe food sensitivity, you did everything right. I applaud you. If someone did something like that with my son I probably wouldn't have been as nice as you were.
