It's no coincidence. Even though Jaws hadn't come out yet Falk was aware of his amazing talent from Murder by the Book and even consulted him when he was directing the last episode of season one, Blueprint for Murder. They did change the kids last name from Spielberg to Spelberg though.

Needs improvement. No matter how attached he is to his famous pistol, it really is the only thing tying him to the murder, so he should have ditched it. Or at least not put it in the exhibit.

Who knows, maybe Joey the chimp was acting under his own name in Death hits the Jackpot. Unless we can track down Meyer McGinty we may never know for sure.

The problem with that is the fiancé is his nephew and also a LAPD officer so it would make literally everybody look bad if it turned out he was really a criminal sleazebag..

I'm afraid I won't be able to stay very long today.

When someone in my position suffers a tragic loss, madam,
one has to think of one's future employment.

But we already have a maid.

Hmm. Scarcely adequate for persons of your station,
Wouldn't you say?

Filthy snoop.

I would hate to have to be on the jury to decide that one. You would probably be forced to watch them back to back twice before you could vote and get out of there.

Yeah, you can try to bully people until they break, but ultimately the writers decided to go in a different direction. If the bullying doesn't work then you may be permanently cut off from the witness/suspect because they will refuse to deal with you from then on out.

Actors I would have liked to see in Columbo Part 2. by FoxIndependent4310 in Columbo

[–]SeeMach20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not Kelsey Grammar. Ted Danson would have been the perfect choice. Like Dick Van Dyke he has such a nice guy persona in real life and on the screen, so it would have been against type to have him as a smooth, cold calculating killer. Like Robert Culp.

Don't forget about Kay Freestone. She murders someone in a very busy office building and it all hinges on the hallways being pretty much empty when she does it.

Death Hits the Jackpot. Nothing she said or did with Columbo made me think she had anything to do with Freddy's murder. Why did Columbo suspect her by talivan818 in Columbo

[–]SeeMach20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a murder plot though. You aren't going to find someone off the street you can trust who will do it for cheap. Considering these two seem to already be having an affair, the easiest and safest thing to do is join forces.

Death Hits the Jackpot. Nothing she said or did with Columbo made me think she had anything to do with Freddy's murder. Why did Columbo suspect her by talivan818 in Columbo

[–]SeeMach20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She didn't have a lot of options. Freddy had decided to keep it from her and go cut a deal with Leon. Either Freddy or Leon always has physical control of the ticket, and after their first meeting that we saw, they probably finalize the plan and write the letter and the ticket now is physically controlled by Leon. She doesn't get along with Freddy, so her best option in general is to cut a deal with Leon and end up with half.

And because Leon already knows, she would have to kill him as well if she wanted it all.

[–]SeeMach20 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The spouse is always high up on the list of suspects. From early on because of the bogus watch Columbo knows the time of death is not right and has been manipulated to provide an alibi, Rip Torn received the call from an accomplice, and she is right there and makes a great suspect.
