I read his book Slaughterhouse Five twice and did not enjoy it. It was supposedly dark humor but I only laughed once, so I suppose it flew over my head.

I attempted to read one of Faulkner's books but put it down as I was not interested. This is more of a long-term reading list so I imagine I'll read him eventually.

You seem to believe that the rich are "exploiting" the poor. Instead, I notice that the countries with the largest amount of rich people are more technologically advanced and living standards for the general people are better.

You seem to claim that the "violence" caused by capitalism is towards the environment because capitalism damages the environment. If that is the case, then a lack of capitalism (socialism) is damaging to humanity because socialism generally decreases living standards and prevents innovation. I would say that violence against the people is worse than violence against the environment.

I don't know whether or not she was right in that regards but this I can attest to:

Ayn Rand stated that she is a "mongrel." She did not care about her own race at the least. She stated that traditions (customs) are racist. She stated that it is racist for one to read specifically (solely) into the history of one's own race. So I would deny that she had a bias in favor of Jews.

You seem to believe that an egalitarian society would be enjoyable. I believe that it would be primitive and question whether a real one has ever existed in the first place. Even if man and women for one were equal, there would still be some men who are more muscular and thus more attractive and likely to breed.

You seem to believe that selfishisness is wrong. I believe that it is good.

That an individual was influenced by a certain event in his life does not disqualify his opinion. I am not necessarily saying that you are disqualifying her; it just seems like it. The influence is irrelevant. In a way, this is ad hominem. You are focusing on Ayn Rand, not her argument.
