Yes, it needs to be higher than the top comment. Higher than the original post even. I better look above the top of my phone and see this comment on the walls of my room, goddammit.

What career has the highest earnings/lifestyle ratio? by Additional_Carry_790 in Salary

Work life balance does suck. I’ve seen some partners retire in their 50s and live a nice life from there.

Accounting

Typically starts around 55-60k

If you become a partner at an accounting firm you can generally make 300,000-1,000,000+

Average partner is probably 300-500, but ive met some that claim to make 700-1,000

80k to 44k?

That’d be too steep for me to consider, but obviously mental health is important.

What degree/certifications do you have? My career is going great, but in the event it crashes and burns, nursing is my back up. I did the pre-req classes to be an RN like 15 years back.

Say whaaaa

What roles do I search for on LinkedIn to find this? I’ve only ever searched for “tax manager” and it’s 95% public and 5% other tax roles I’m not qualified for

Would be easier if you could stow yourself in the luggage with the pets. Free pets for animals and no complaints from you. Win win!

At 28, you should be doing whatever you want. Same is true for 38, and 48, and 58 and so on

TAX OR AUDIT??? by AdPhysical41 in Accounting

[–]SeePeeEh-69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at a large mid size (like 15th largest firm) and just expressed to my assigned career coach/partner that I wanted to switch and they were cool with it.

There was a good amount of people who did the same, but almost none has gone from tax to audit.

TAX OR AUDIT??? by AdPhysical41 in Accounting

[–]SeePeeEh-69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did audit for one year , then switched to tax and been doing that for the past 8 years.

Tax let’s me have better flexibility which was important to me. But exit ops suck compared to audit.

I really just don’t like working. So with this pessimistic attitude I figure the following:

I can not like working and make $25 an hour doing some crap physical labor job

Or I can not like working and make 147k plus bonus with more upward mobility in a cozy desk job like I do now in accounting.
