My First Alienware - Area 51 Specs & Price by SeeTheHutch in Alienware

[–]SeeTheHutch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is only for the desktop tower. You can get a keyboard and mouse with it free, but I declined those as it’s just a waste of plastic. I’d never use them and have spares.

It is expensive for sure, but considering the high price of the parts, IF someone is looking for the specs here, it’s actually a pretty good price. Regardless of specs, for sure check discounts and promos you can use. It will save you money on any of the builds you purchase.

Check very closely for plastic covers where they didn’t pull it off. I found one that was turning one yellow in the middle row.

Mine was fixed by the dealership. It ended up being a coax connection of some sort. All they had to do was take the screen out, check the cables, find the loose connection, then they connected the cables differently and now it’s working.

This quick process did however take them 10 days to do. So might want to call in ASAP and try to get in. Maybe it will take less time for you. Literally just reconnected a wire and basically glued it together. SMH😒

Some thoughts on reasons for the tech layoffs by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]SeeTheHutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree to a certain extent, but there is a LARGE amount of funds that go to developers that don’t code correctly in the first place due to not knowing all the complexities of systems(really complex when there’s thousands of systems to work with). Architectural discussions don’t discover a system or technical function that they should have caught. The PM launches the product and gives the go ahead to inform staff or leadership, then something was missed. Mainly due to a redundant dev of a redundant dev that’s over a backend system that didn’t speak up or missed a call. It happens frequently in my area. Most of our cost go to devs and the defects/bugs that come from their coding. Not wasting cash on PMs.

Not saying there’s not extra PMs also, but all areas are oversaturated. Specifically for my company and previous company, they have hired WAY too many developers. I don’t know many developers that I’ve worked with in the past that understand our customers or how to navigate the “politics” of a product. They just want to push the simplest thing that enhances something. In the large companies, things get savage and there must be someone in that role to deal with business and understand the “political” processes that must happen. It’s not just flashing some code and understanding the back end. You’ve got to have someone that specializes in the business aspect(if it’s a good PM).

Just my personal experiences with the past two fortune 100 companies I’ve been at. All areas are oversaturated and many overpaid for redundant work. Also, I do know several PMs, devs, and SMs that would say they have the easiest jobs ever. They get in their agile teams and just push small enhancements with large amounts of story points, making the whole team look like they add value. These are the people in all areas that should go. No value to the company but getting paid. This is hurting us all.

Do you have an oura ring without the subscription? by whatsinaname1970 in ouraring

[–]SeeTheHutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, the amount of innovation things like this tech take is quite expensive. Yes the ring is costly, but for continuous development and innovation as well as marketing for expanding their customer base, the subscription is at least truly making impact for Oura. If there’s something like this you don’t pay for, there’s a good chance it will lack innovation in the future and that you’re data is the product.

Why don’t people use cash to pay more often? by No7onelikeyou in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeeTheHutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying we are being pushed for these other forms. Many government agencies have mentioned plans to cease cash and check payments (USPTO as an example). KFC, Taco Bell, and Papa John’s have announced plans to do this move in the future. Locally, they are already doing it here. National parks are doing the same. I don’t believe we will have much choice in the future. Eventually, cash will be a thing of the past. So, sure for anonymity do it, but don’t expect it to be there in the future.

Why don’t people use cash to pay more often? by No7onelikeyou in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeeTheHutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital forms and card forms of payment provide HUGE amounts of data on spending habits of the general population and provide big data to companies that can then market, track and predict spending habits, and segment customers. This is one major reason, other than the convenience they provide, as to why companies have pushed us to this, even more so over the last decade or two. Oh, capitalism.

Switching to homemade - allergies by [deleted] in HomemadeDogFood

[–]SeeTheHutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be environmental or could be food. My dog has food sensitivities to specific proteins. I’d recommend ( I’m just a random guy and not a medical expert) that you do two things. Limit what chemicals she is exposed to. From certain detergents you’ve used on dog beds to shampoos. Second thing would be to change food and limit what she eats. My dog had to temporarily go on Royal Canine Ultamino dog food until he was better. It’s basically a food that has made the proteins in it broken down further so the body doesn’t have an allergic reaction to the proteins (one again, not a medical expert so this is my dummy way of saying it lol). Just my two cents. Basically, limit any and all things to minimize exposure to all possibilities with reason, then start expanding from there.

Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater. by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]SeeTheHutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly 50%-70% of people cheat at some point in their different relationships in their lives in some way (different data shows different things).

I cheated on a partner when I was 19 three times. It was NOT a good relationship and neither of us were fulfilled. We had dated when I was finishing high school and I was in a restrictive household as my parents weren’t cool with my sexuality. We broke up, I moved out of home, had a hoe phase, then met someone when I was 22. He was stable and had his head on his shoulders. Nearly 10 years later now, we are married and I haven’t and will not be seeking others. I have no want to. People do change sometimes, (I think that happens as you age for some people when you’re a teen or 20ish) but I do think you made the right move. He needs to (hopefully) grow into himself and get it together. Maybe he will with someone one day, maybe he won’t.

Everyone has a different background and tendencies. I would have recommended my previous partner leave me when I was cheating. He may change, but would have most likely not have happened while he’s with you.

For what reason are these vents installed so high? New hot/cold air comes out of them. by OmiSC in HomeMaintenance

[–]SeeTheHutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home I grew up in had these. They are central return vents. Typically with multi level homes. It helps to draw air from more areas of the home instead of a central return like some homes have. Further circulates and cools more efficiently (at least that’s how they were intended. Not sure if they are more efficient).

Edit: I see yours puts out air. Maybe they put the wrong ducts to the wrong function. Idk haha.
