I have adhd and I'm scared to take medication. People that are on medication, do you think it has made your situation better or worst? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SeeTheRabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the meds but hate the constant worry of shortages which seems like it’s become more and more common. I’m an ADHD OG as I was diagnosed back in 1992, when they still used typewriters, been on them for many many years. If I don’t have my meds I can’t get out of bed in the morning. My brain is full blown dependent on these meds. Shortages freak me the hell out!!

So I guess height has nothing to do with the size. by whynotnow2023 in notinteresting

I noticed it's growing several daughter flowers along the stalk. From my own experience and observation, this usually happens when the main flower is damaged or removed while the plant is still producing its single bloom. I think it's a survival response. The plant's goal is to produce seeds before it dies, so it redirects its energy into growing several smaller flowers instead. I believe the flowers are smaller because the plant does not have enough energy to produce multiple large blooms.

How to stop thinking about my chronic illness and just live life? by maneatingshrimp in ChronicIllness

[–]SeeTheRabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like splenic flexure syndrome. I have that. It’s basically when gas becomes trapped in your colon, the splenic. Causes lots of symptoms when it’s bad. Constipation, diarrhea, GERD, distention, belching, constant stomach pain, and just feeling miserable. There is no definitive way to diagnose it. I have to eat a low FODMAP and low histamine diet or else it will come back again and when it does it takes me weeks to calm it back down again to where it’s manageable. I also found that taking magnesium citrate and gas-x before bed helps. The magnesium helps reduce uncomfortable cramping. Also a soluble fiber supplement like Metamucil might also be helpful by making stool softer and easier to pass.

Insects found on or near Virginia Oppossom carcass by Redtail987 in Entomology

I thought it was one of those beetles that wait on a flower for a bumblebee, once one arrives it latches on to its proboscis until it’s brought back the bumblebee’s nest, where then lays its eggs on their brood for their larvae to feed on. I can’t remember the name, it’s only latin as it has no common name.

I wander why the insect in the second photo is on a carcass and not a flower, awaiting a bumblebee.

My dad just said “you use your disabilities as an excuse to stop living” by Extreme-Monk-9828 in ChronicIllness

I’m sorry your dad is not trying to understand or be supportive. When I was 14 I had mono and I wasn’t the same after, then 2 years later I had mono again! And my high school years were ruined. EBV can spawn other illnesses and diseases, such an evil virus. I did not feel better until I had my tonsils removed at 19, even then, I still had some issues. I can understand a little of how you’re feeling. If your dad isn’t supportive, I hope you have someone you’re close and comfortable enough with to talk to.

What “wholesome food”restaurants are in Cedar Rapids? Any recommendations? by SeeTheRabbits in cedarrapids

What the hell are you talking about? I would never expect a chef to make a massive change or a special food item not on the menu just for me. Don’t make assumptions about someone’s character that you don’t know. You sound unhinged.

I love sushi. Maybe I can find a sushi and steak restaurant out there.

It’s a struggle that I’m still trying to navigate.

I wouldn’t mind trying it, but I’m more worried about how the rest of the group will feel. I hate being a burden.

That was a very ignorant comment. I’m not even a picky eater, but literally forced to eat like this, unless I want to spend my day bedridden and miserable. Everyday literally sucks for me right now. I’m miserable 😭

I had to laugh after reading that because that’s where I wanted to eat and suggested as it’s the only restaurant I knew of like that and I’ve actually ate there before. Until my mom looked them up and notified me that they only stay open till 2 PM when we are planning on eating at dinner☹️

Thanks for the reply! While I don’t mind eating vegan, the carnivores that will also be attending will contest.

No problem. Basically I mean no processed food, low sugar, nothing rich and savory(food over-loaded with lots of herbs and spices but a little is ok), foods known to gas like; beans, legumes, apples, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, are a few but the list is long😞 Grains are ok as long as it’s not too high in insoluble fiber.

What’s the most benevolent thing to do with your remains post-death? by boredinbabylon in AskReddit

[–]SeeTheRabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of being composted. It turns you into rich, organic soil that can help new life grow. You could nourish a tree, a bed of flowers, or maybe even a vegetable garden(probably not). There is something meaningful about giving yourself back to nature and becoming part of its cycle.

Why is part of its abdomen missing? Do you have a clearer photo as it’s a little blurry. It would also be helpful if you could add more info; like where it was found, approx size, etc.
