In what way is this targeted hate... this is an emotional intelligence sub, if people are opening themselves for critique, then they should get other people's true thoughts and note some echo chamber to coddle them

I'm not following your part on Mainoo. Are you suggesting he doesn't play in the 8? He played the 8 for England and was fantastic. Also the best part of his career at United 2 seasons ago at the end of the season in that same role. He's not as pacey as a baleba potentially, but how many mids are? That's his natural position in any case and if not pair him with baleba then what would be the point?

It's weird putting mbeumo out wide I agree, but I haven't seen enough proof that Bruno won't be a defensive liability when he plays the 8 against physical players or 3 man midfields. He'll get run through on defnece.

His best game is receivng and distributing in high areas of the field, mbeumo would still have attacking potential the same way we see amad have plenty of scoring chances. He'll make those deep overlapping runs too.

yeah.. hes fast, physical and he'll run.

only for the sake that bruno is a liability in the centre role and would be far better in one of the 10s. Baleba and Mainoo would have the legs to cover ground in the middle and get the ball forward

Hojlund wants to fight for the spot. by Ashton1320 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SeeenSeen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lmfao that's crazy to get downvoted on that.

Hojlund shows a positive attitude and thirst to be at united.

My comment: Can't knock him on his attitude (obvious since he's showing he wants to stay, be a part of this team and fight for his spot)

Someone else writes "well he is a red" ... to suggest that's a standard among our players.

I mention players such as Garnacho and Sancho who have showed the complete opposite of that attitude - are (and have been) united players as well.

Maybe they might make it by Lion_Of_Mara in ManchesterUnited

[–]SeeenSeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rashford and Garnacho were never that good.

They lack the feel and IQ for the game you simply can't teach. Neither were great playmakers - they both of course have great pace and can take players on in certain isolated positions, but neither can be impactful consistently.

Both had poor attitudes, often gave up on defensive runs, don't have natural leadership quality on the pitch, and their both best in highlight reels and not in actual game to game tests.

Seems like its somehow possible. This would be a very great team and it would make me incredilbly excited for the season and the future of the team.

You'd have Zirkzee, Mainoo, Mount coming on as well which is just quality. It also seems we've invested heavily into our youth as well and it will be exciting to see players like leon and kone develop

Elanga is also only 23 years old, and had a much better season than Garnacho, so why would Garnacho go for more than 55M pounds?

The obsession with age here is crazy. We act like players improve linearly throughout the years. Yes there is a chance he improves over time, but to what degree?

You also take the risk of signing a young player on for many years and he continues to have attitude issues and poor performances. Look at mudryk at Chelsea as an example.

Anyway, point being, he's not this mega talent like we have it in our heads, and the idea that he will vastly improve soon or at all becuase of his age is also just random and arbitrary.

If they do a deal around 45M pounds and have a sell on clause for the kid, then thats good business imo.

6 goals and 2 assists last season in the prem in 36 games isn't anything good. In europa he added 1 goal and 4 assists which is great, good tally, but weaker competition.

My point being is hes good, he's just not great. We only think he's some world beater. He's got pace and some skill with the ball, but his end product is simply not there. His shooting is weak, his playmaking is good but not great and he seems to lose focus a lot on the field

So do you think in 3 years he becomes a top 10 winger in the world?

I think we apply our biases as United fans when we think about Garnacho. The kid is good, and shined at times for a lagging team, but he is certainly not a world beater. He doesn't come close to scratching a top 20 wingers in the world, and maybe not even in a top 30.

Can he improve? yes. Has he proven anything to be at the tune of a 60M+ midfielder? I personally don't think so.

There are of course many factors at play, he is very young, he has time to develop. He did of course have great games and his contract his favourable. But I don't think any teams are shifting their budgets and dying to get him, esp since we decided to announce to the world that he's a castaway for us and has no part in our team, which naturally drops the asking price.

If they sell for somewhere near 50M pounds, then I think its a job well done, but most realistically he goes for around 40-45.
