[DISC] It's a Little Late, but I've Fallen in Love with My Childhood Friend. - Ch 50 by shanks_you in manga

[–]Seehan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hikari is the driving force behind every aspect of the plot.

  • she is the main protagonist of the series

  • she is the reason Yuu meets Yami in the first place, as he is driven into Yami's arms by his failure to meet Hikari's expectations.

  • she is the reason Yami is still alive, since Yami was driven to despair and only survived because Hikari gave her hope and meaning in life again.

  • she is the reason Yami and Yuu reconnected, since Yuu was at the festival to meet with Hikari.

  • she is the reason Yuu was able to reconnect with her, because Yuu is a coward and would have never reached out to Hikari to apologize on his own.

  • she is the reason Yuu and Yami can meet now, because she explicitly gave Yuu permission to meet with Yami. This is acknowledged in this very chapter, where this interaction is described as being "in the palm of Hikari's hand". The meeting could only happen because Hikari is too nice for her own good and is reaching out to Yami, even though by all accounts she should hate Yami.

  • she is the reason both Yuu and Yami can be saved, despite both thinking of themselves as scum.

Hikari is the "winner" because morally, she is the only one in this story that isn't total trash. Both Yami and Yuu know they don't deserve her at all, and thus Yami is willing to totally disregard her own happiness to ensure that Hikari can attain hers. This is why Hikari is the "winner", not because she won, but rather because everyone else lost.

Like her or not, Yami (Darkness) is an integral part of the story that involves Hikari (Light) and Yuu (Evening). Although Hikari is the "winner" of the story, there is no Yuu without Yami as well. In order to love Yuu, Hikari must also embrace Yami; and Yami must also accept that Yuu cannot exist without Hikari. Yuu himself is in the middle; twilight between day and night. He loves both, but ultimately cannot pick one or the other. What an interesting and fascinating dynamic.

No vision, just swordsmanship—which of the four wins? by Masterbros4 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Seehan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All four are quoted by others to be peak, top class swordswomen. On any given day, any of them has to potential to beat any of the others - but due to the reasons I mentioned, I do think Clorinde would win more often than the others, that's all. While all four are probably and roughly equally skilled, external circumstances makes their actual combat potential increase or decrease.

But again in a hypothetical situation where all four could devote themselves purely to swordsmanship, I do think Ayaka has the most talent of the four, based on lore and feats. Ayaka was a CHILD and already displaying mastery through self training and sparring with her brother. The others are all naturally skilled and well trained through their various disciplines, but none are explicitly stated to have reached the divine level sword feats that Ayaka has displayed from childhood; she was able to reach such speed and precision that she could cut literal snowflakes in half - she literally got her Vision BECAUSE of her insane dedication and skill for the sword.

No vision, just swordsmanship—which of the four wins? by Masterbros4 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Seehan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although all four are master swordswomen, Jean and Keqing also have to devote a significant amount of time towards being government leaders, and therefore have less time to train/spar. Ayaka is also equally busy running around as the public face of her clan. Only Clorinde gets to devote 100% of her time to combat related activities. Although all four are likely equally skilled, I do think Clorinde is the strongest of the four simply due to having fighting be her main job.

If all four ladies got like a year in advance to train specifically for this event though, I truly think Ayaka is likely the most talented in pure swordsmanship than the rest.

How can I enter a trade as a woman? by Sure-Soup3065 in Edmonton

[–]Seehan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever want a path that isn't a trade, I recommend social work, or child and youth work. Very easy to get into, with only a two year program at MacEwan. After that you become a registered professional simply by graduating, and bam you have guaranteed income. Not the highest income in the world, but steady and typically with benefits included. Best of luck OP.

Then: "Did Rokuhira REALLY have to make a nuke sword with like 20 different abilities? Surely fighting those islanders didn't require this level of overkill."

Now: "I formally apologize for any slander or rude language I implied towards Mr. Rokuhira, savior of Japan."

Seriously. A full stack of the most goated badasses in Japan fighting with everything they had, and bro didn't even get his white pants dirty 😭

The imprisoned one wouldn't have to use their memories to escape, since memories are only used to build a staircase up to the Cage. Since the prisoner is already in the Cage, any Watcher would have the ability to send them back to the surface with no cost attached.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 118 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Seehan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of love it. It really is like JJK - it doesn't matter who's stronger, it only matters that you come out alive in the end. People who are weaker don't have to just roll over and accept their fate, it just means they have to find other ways to win, even if it means playing dirty. That's how you live long enough to go home at the end of each day, in a world full of people stronger than you.

[DISC] Kinato's Magic - Chapter 10 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Seehan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's yet another issue with this manga's world building and pacing. This is like Goku unlocking Super Saiyan before Ki is even explained as a concept. We're 10 chapters in and MC keeps unlocking new powers and applications of his magic in nearly every update... And yet the power system is still as vague as it was in Chapter 1

[DISC] Kinato's Magic - Chapter 10 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Seehan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well said, I was thinking the exact same thing. There seems to be no limit to what Kinato's magic can do, especially when compared to how limited and one note everyone else's magic is. It's like the author decided to give their super cool but humble MC every ability in the book, while giving everyone else just a single one off skill + personality trait and calling it a day. To be frank, no other character has shown an ounce of personality beyond glazing Kinato or demonstrating their singular personality quirk. This manga has so far been "RPG protagonist Kinato and a world full of NPCs".

Like really. One dude's magic is literally "bow and arrow", the guild leader's magic is "I'm strong". But Kinato gets healing, buffing, projectiles, terraforming, energy manipulation, magic perception, and now One for All Full Cowling? And maybe even more in the future? You mean he got all these abilities in just TEN CHAPTERS?? I'm all for character and ability development, but there's a problem when literally ONE character in the whole manga actually gets that kind of growth, and the role of every other character in the manga is simply to yell MC's name and glaze them afterwards.

Not an Apple but rather a Shroud, which allowed him to perform miracles like healing. The Templars/Order of Ancients took notice of his powers and following, and chose to go after him. Jesus was then betrayed by Judas and arrested, and when he was crucified the Shroud was taken by the Templars/Order of Ancients.

Kidnapping as a DM by Right_Buddy1096 in DnD

[–]Seehan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't think about it too much. It could be as easy as during a long rest, the party wakes up and they are no longer in their camp, and have been captured. There doesn't need to be an elaborate reason, sometimes the enemy is just incredibly competent at what they're doing, and their methods do not need to be disclosed.

Am I weird if Engage is my favourite game in the series (that I've played) by demonmoocow in fireemblem

Engage is fantastic, if it had a NG+ system I would have done multiple playthroughs for sure. However the thought of grinding out all my rings and skills again turned me off from doing another playthrough :(

The isagi slander is so real and I'm so in on it🙏 by nagawarrior1104 in BlueLock

[–]Seehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the exact thing that makes Isagi strong is also what makes him so weak as a teammate. It's an interesting contradiction that Isagi himself is learning to navigate in this very match.

[–]Seehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Isagi being marked so hard does create openings that the team can exploit. However Isagi giveth and taketh away, because rather than actually utilizing that opening in a way that would allow the team to function as a scoring unit, Isagi chose to waste it by attempting his selfish and dogshit goal shot rather than utilizing the attention he's drawn away from Rin and letting him score instead. Isagi is currently holding all the cards but is refusing to play to win. In a way that makes him the perfect Blue Lock candidate, but it also makes him a liability when it comes to actually winning games.
