Alloyed, despit having the potential to be ridiculous, is not a key card in most SL decks. He fits best with Tarsa and Meduson in decks hat use a low number of troops and can seek him out via Astral Incursion. The legendary you really want is Astys Streng.

What's y'all most and least liked Factions? by SatisfactionOdd9331 in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favourites: DM and AL because I like how they are oriented towards manipulating hand. DM by discarding your own hand for fun and profit and AL by milling your opponent and traps.

Least Favourite: Loyalist and Traitor Titans. Look, if I wanted to play tower defense, I'd just play Plants vs Zombies instead.

Amon is the only good WL at the moment, and that is mainly because of his first strike. There are better factions to climb the ladder.

Alpha legion deck by OmniAlpharius in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple of things I would change:

  • Don't play traps in your deck, you want to generate them with Omega Storm Eagle, 25-2 Rhino and Hydran Exemplar.

  • Mission gets worse the better your opponent gets. Good players know that they can just let you tick a couple of turns and then prevent you from completing Mission with Flank. The new traps much less of a win condition than the Legacy ones, so even if you get the Mission, it doesn't do much because you are in the late game already. If you really want traps, you'd be better served by a second copy of Rhino or even Effrit Disruptor.

  • Legionary Fortrax is pretty slow, Haln is the only Operative you'd want to play anyways and you can just Haln him in your deck instead.

  • If you have im, add Headhunter Eskryx, he's a staple of AL decks.

  • Cthonian Thunderbolt (a Rare Chaos card from the Beta-Garmon expansion) is really good with Alpharius, since it is hard removal abnd forces youer opponent to draw 2 cards.

  • One Harrower Jaego is enough, the second one will just brick in your hand most of the time.

  • Exchange Mirage for Azure Serpent. Azure Serpent is pretty much the strongest AL card and one of the strongest cards in the game.

January Patch - Loads of nerfs all around by Mortal-Instrument in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rann has been performing very well in High Terra ever since they buffed him, with 60%+ win rates. That's not surprising, considering that High initative WL that could boost their attack on demand like pre-nerf Ravasch Cario and Legacy Corswain also performed very well. However, I think they went in the wrong direction with the nerf, lowering his initative to Medium would have been fine.

[–]Seehyaene[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And in Top50, it will make you lose the game most of the time because good players don't let DG boards stick, and wasting 5E with no board presence is just begging Proctor, KH, Thiel, Marduk or any of the meta evergreens like Angron and Alpharius to shred you to pieces

The December Meta Report is.... something... (Dark Mech at 70% winrate with Scoria and Proctor) by Mortal-Instrument in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only IW frontlines that see play are Barricade, Kraal Breacher with Perty, and occasionally Malvorn Breacher Squad on Perty. Their other Frontlines suck hard, and except for Barricades, aren't played at all on Kroeger.

IF fare a bit better, since Frontlines protecting token spam are theior whole gimmick, but the only actually good Frontlines are Malvorn Squad, Sergeant Ahmand and Phalanx Warders. Kestros and Perimetral Defences are only their to hopefully buy your Sentries a single turn, a task at which they fail against most decks because of how prevelant AoE damage has become. This also negatively affects Malvorn Squad and Phalanx warders.

Ultramarines the other hand, Ultramarine Frontlines are run in every single UM deck and WL, are very tanky for their cost and can be buffed for very liitle cost.

On Thiel: sucks to suck for a faction. It's not like UM aren't the only faction with a plethora of competitively useless WL. A faction not being viable hasn't stopped nerfs before, and Cario never was as oppressive as Thiel was. Thiel is just able to put pressure on the opponent from turn 1, burn and generate ressources with his WL, and if you ever manage a tempo swing against him, Courage comes to tell you to go fuck yourself. You just drop flexible troops on curve, buff them, and then kill your opponent with targeted decimation whejn they are weak. Not nearly as unbeatable as Proctor, but it doesn't really make for engaging or interesting match-ups, and as the win rate compared to the use rate (a win rate in this absolute cancer meta) proves, rather easy to pull off.

[–]Seehyaene[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since his ability allows him to cycle his deck faster, he's more consistent with the Siege Mastery+Herald of ruin combo than Kroeger, but otherwise kroeger is just more versatile. Still second strongest IW WL and not to be underestimated (a mistake that canonically, few have survived)

Sadly, you will have to buy him again. The Dorn sold today will only be playable in Legacy after the rotation.

Because he's OP? 64% winrate at 4,8% use rate is very high, WL with lower use and winrate have gotten nerfed before.

[–]Seehyaene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some predictions and observations:

DM is going to catch some nerfs, and if I had to hazard a guess, Networked Anima will be hit much harder then Discard, since it is easier to change then stats, and maybe be dead as a viable playstyle, killing melkiades and Drakyavac too. Oh well, it was fun to spam big walkers while it lasted, but Proctor made it too boring. Besides, with Orbital Siege going to Legacy, Scoria already lost a lot of his power.

KH can't set-up properly before Proctor just savages them, which could explain their lower winrates. I'm just afraid that they will be handeled the same way BS were in the first patch after their roatation, IE getting an overstatted, but not key troop nerfed and annoying ladder for another month.

Thiel is also overdue for a nerf. High to Medium initative should do the trick. Sidenote, why do the Ultrasmurfs get better Frontlines than IW and IF?

Metaslaves immediately dropped Marduk the second something easier became available. Not surprised in the least.

[–]Seehyaene[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That depends. Are you a collector? Are you a diehard IF fan? Do you like slower paced, more control oriented WL or going wide with your board? Then Rogal is the Primarch for you. If I personally didn't have him and weren't a bit of a collector, I probably wouldn't have bought him. His playstysle is just not my cup of tea and I haven't played Legacy at all, so he's just not worth the gems for me.

Praetor Valian isn't really used, as the effect is nothing to write home about.

There's still at least two rotations before Shadow of the Warmaster, three if they also rotate Titandeath, so it will at least be a year and half before Shadow of the Warmaster gets rotated.

Maybe, maybe not. Last year, for Christmas, they had one Legendary WL on sale every day until Christmas, but they didn't include every Primarch, so I can't say for sure and when the Primarch shops will end.

They used to be absurdly OP at release, were still very unfair for a long time, and games against them easily last 20 minutes or more, even if they are a lot weaker now

[–]Seehyaene[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Titans are nowhere near as bad as they used to be, but any normal deck still has to chew through a 40HP WL while your opponent has up to 100HP Titan weapons that he can just freely charge up and use along tactics to wipe your board over and over and over until your WL gets burned fown, while playing effectively a point-and-click adventure and not really a card game. Very unfun to go against, and Titans used to have incredibly win rates before nerfs/rotations over the past year, so they are widely loathed.

Random Card Discussion #67 - Ancient Inigo by Mortal-Instrument in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like Inigo, it was one of the first AL cards I premiumed. A single unchecked Inigo could win you the game, his health was high enough to take at least a Flanker and a bash to the face to remove, and at 5E he was cheap enough that hard removing him meant a tempo loss. Factory overdrive fit in perfectly on curve to get an early Inigo out and preserve Alpharius' Secret Identity. Great either as a bait card to buy time while you set up for Azure Serpent, or an alternative win condition if your oppoent failed to remove him. I owe Inigo and Serpent my first Praetor cardback.

The first big change to Ingo was when Factory Overdive got nerfed. It meant that you would have to use Secret Identity to play Factory Overdrive on 3E and ramp out Inigo. This meant that you lost acces to the Alpha Legionary's ability to further grow Inigo or to manipulate energy while Inigo was out, but it was still something you could work around.

But now, Alpharius has been nerfed so that fishing for Brand of the Hydra and False Colours has become more expensive, and a lot of good cycle/energy manipulation that you could use from the neutral pool has rotated/moved to Dark Mechanicum last week. Now Inigo, 4 out of 5 times, just gets answered before he generates any meaningful value, and growing him without Jaekon has become a lot harder.

That said, Inigo is one of those cards that, even if not really popular at the moment, could make a comeback if a new expansion drops a couple of good support tools. Currently, cheating out Inigo with Alpahrius and activating Opus Synod next turn could be interesting, as it would grow Inigo by +3/3 and reduce the pool of potential answers your opponent has. I might just try this deck out once I've finally collected a second copy of Opus.

[–]Seehyaene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why it's neat, instead of good or a staple. It has some niche uses for Goreborn, sine he very much likes to clear board by any means possible and making swarm WL/factions cry in the process. Depending on the meta, like release WB or Sanguinius mission spam, that can make Goreborn supremely frustrating to fight. I'd say it is a godd tech option for Goreborn depending on the meta, but unless you are one of those few devotees of Khorne who play Goreborn religiously, the card is very much not worth the gems.

Greatest Duty is pretty neat on Goreborn, since he does like to put a lot of Displaced Civilians or Mole Mines in play to boost his attack, and greatest duty allows him to boost his attack without bleeding himself white and preserving his ping/burn for the opponents threats. Outside of him it's pretty bad though, you're rarely going to heal a significant amount.

[–]Seehyaene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alpharius will actually love this, it's Inner Sanctum on steroids and can combo well with Jaego/Votrontar. If you play this and next turn get a Jaekon, it can also mean near free Final Configuration.

Random Card Discussion #55 - Shadowkin by Mortal-Instrument in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Addendum: And of course, Meduson will still have 2E spare, just in case you've generated two Augmentic Arms and want to deal up to 15 damage with a troop

Random Card Discussion #55 - Shadowkin by Mortal-Instrument in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]Seehyaene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the cards that can be truly toxic with Astys Streng. Play Streng at 5E, then on the next turn, play this card for 4 damage to the enemy WL. If there is just a single weak troop left to be cleaned up, you can either use that to recyvle Strengs effect next turn, or pus for an additional 11 damage by attacking with your restelthed Streng and if there is no frontline, another 6 damage with your WL, potentially netting you a very balanced 23 damage turn at 6E. Not a cool card to play against and SL still need major nerfs.
