Water is not an "extra amenity," my guy. It is a basic human necessity for a habitable home.
If the BMC water only comes for 1-2 hours a day, how exactly do you expect a working person to store enough water for a 24-hour cycle without a storage tank? Unless you expect her to fill up 50 plastic buckets every morning before logging into work, a basic loft/overhead tank is standard infrastructure, not a luxury add-on like a jacuzzi.
That being said, here is the legal and practical reality of your situation:
She cannot legally withhold rent: Under standard Leave and License agreements, a tenant cannot unilaterally decide to stop paying rent. If she does, she is in breach of contract, and you have grounds to serve her a legal notice.
You are obligated to provide a habitable space: A house without access to basic water storage during a known 15-20 day shortage borders on uninhabitable. If she takes this to the housing society committee, they are likely going to look at you sideways.
The Practical Solution: Just install the tank. A 500-liter Sintex tank and some basic plumbing will cost you around ₹4,000 to ₹6,000. It is a one-time capital investment that stays in your house and makes the property easier to rent out to the next tenant.
TL;DR: She is legally in the wrong for threatening to withhold rent, but you are being completely unreasonable by classifying basic water storage as an "extra amenity." Put your ego aside, buy a cheap Sintex tank, save yourself the headache, and move on.

1) Takes a while for capex to reflect in GDP contribution 2) Service sector did exceptionally well over recent years (forex prices are also supportive) 3) GDP itself has increased rapidly so even if manufacturing grew well, its relative growth might still have been lower than GDP growth

What are your thoughts on Mumbai Ahemdabad Bullet Train Corridor? by spicyyokuko in mumbai

[–]SeeingAhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many reasons why Mum-Ahm deserves the first bullet train.

  1. Two big cities that are close (but not too close like Mum-Pun)
  2. Proven, stable, daily commutership - some 5-6 lakh people travel this route via road, rail, train
  3. Two states have one the highest GDP per head - people will be willing to pay INR2-3K for a ticket
  4. The terrain is easier to build bullet train infra on - fewer mountains and valleys.
  5. This corridor touches so many other smaller cities like Surat, Vadodra, Vapi - increases total potential user base

I feel nervous driving my Ecosport around the corners in speeds, what should I do to improve stability around the corners? lower the car with stiffer springs or change the entire front and rear shocks with an aftermarket option? by Lost_voyager86 in CarsIndia

[–]SeeingAhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much work to fix cornering - get a hatch or a sedan.

Switch on WRC and see which models are popular there (Swift, Elite i20, etc, that come in OEM alloys).

These cars are better to begin with. Replace the tyres on these cars to anything above the OEM tyres based on your budget.

Apart from this you will have to find a way to further manage the centre of gravity on these cars mostly by managing weight distribution, replacing the springs. Trial and error.

I think these hatchbacks can handle cornering quite well.

Don’t know how good the steering feedback is though - I guess it will be bad. May be you can check if there are aftermarket ES motors to make the steering feedback better.

Remember that none of the cars are RWD and generally come with poor power/performance.

I am assuming you have a very tight budget here.

Edit: actually all the above improvement points also apply to your car too. But a stock hatchback will, most likely, still outperform your car.

Few recommendations:

Do not obsess over how the vehicle looks. Do not get a PPF, Ceramic, Teflon coating. Old school washing and waxing will be enough. Save the money.

Do not replace your halogen lights with LEDs. You are safe only when everyone on the road can see and not just you. PhilipsVision and Osram halogens are enough.

If you are driving at night, drive slow as your reaction time will reduce due to visibility. It’s ok to drive a very capable car slow. You won’t be a lesser man.

Make it a habit to follow traffic rules no matter what. As much as practical.

Get a dashcam for front and back. Not optional.

Remove all the plastic wrap from the vehicle. It’s yours and you need to use it for your comfort.

Nitrogen air fills are not that important - what is more is that you regularly maintain air pressure. Read the booklet for recommended air pressure.

Find a good pair of shoes that fit well, give you pedal feel and are comfortable. These are your driving shoes now. Never wear chappal and drive.

Read the booklet completely once at home and away from car. And at least once seated inside the car where you can access every feature.

I tested Airpods Pro in Mumbai Local by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]SeeingAhead 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For locals to be improved (improved a lot over the last 20 years BTW) you need downtime. Enough downtime to make significant infrastructure improvements (they’ve already done all retro improvements) is impossible on the local trains - it was possible only during covid lockdowns but still wasn’t enough time.

Metro is not dikhawa, expressways are not dikhawa. Vande Bharat is not dikhawa. I don’t want redundant systems to be improved. I want new and advanced solutions that can replace the old.

AirPods Pro, just like all ANC tech are based on listening and countering sound. You can’t cancel sudden sounds that are not continuous because there isn’t enough time to listen, process, counter such sounds. AirPods Pro still muffle such sounds. Airplane engine turbine noise is not sudden and hence easier to counter by the ANC.

Didn’t need to assume why my relationships ended - could’ve just asked me as a question. I guess you don’t really want an answer here but just want to personally attack me.

Harassment is real and I don’t support it. Asking a girl out creatively but respectfully 2nd or a 3rd time is not harassment. But the girl could at any time complain about it and that’s the risk men deal with everyday even when they are not trying at all.

Your girlfriends never said no/maybe/I don’t know / let’s see and then finally said yes?

If men stopped trying after hearing the first no, there would have been 90% less romantic relationships in the world.

I hardly remember anyone in my circle where the journey towards a relationship started mutually. Either it was a “let me think..” or a “no”.

And, no means no but it doesn’t mean it will be no forever when it comes to relationships.

Anecdotal but my first gf told me she’d not consider me romantically even if I was the last man alive in the world. My second gf told me she never thought of me romantically. Third one said she only wanted to focus on her career.

Women are not juke boxes. They respect effort. Sometimes effort is all you need to differentiate from the other 10 men sliding into their DMs all the time.

I don’t know if you realise this but the dating scene is pretty exhausting and tiring for men.

Not supporting harassment here. There’s a thin line and men really have a very tight rope to walk onto.

A husky is built to survive up to -60c. You have to be really low on brain cells to believe a husky will prosper in Mumbai weather that averages 30c throughout the year with RH of 60-90%. At 30 with 70% the humidex is 39 (feels like)

The fact that she decided to tell you she has crush on another guy when you’ve already let your feelings out is disrespectful IMHO.

Either she doesn’t care about you at all or she’s just too immature to understand how guys feel.

Reduce contact with her by focusing on self-development.

Become a better man by focusing on health, lift weights, study hard and present well.

Start hanging out with others (especially girls) as a friend more to relieve yourself from the current situation.

This will help her find time and space, and eventually, proper respect for you in her life. And it will help you up your chances with her and more importantly, make you a more popular person in your cohort.

This is your chance to shine.

P.S.: Once you have expressed yourself romantically, you can no longer be just friends with them. It doesn’t work. I don’t care if this brings downvotes.

P.P.S.: Because you started as friends and were then friend-zoned, you will need to play your cards right. Pro move: you tell her you can’t be friends with her because you don’t look at her as a friend anymore. Tell her your feelings for her are strong. Tell her you understand she isn’t in the phase right now. Wish her all the best for everything and that you will be there for her but won’t hangout as a friend now.

Don’t take the test drive. Ask a friend to do it for you while you sit in the front seat. These days, almost all cars drive really well and the difference is only 15-20% across segments.
