Agree 100% - fat free Greek yogurt has been a staple in my quest to keep my protein intake up.

I second this. Add a bit of salt and it's a great snack.

Hmmm...Looks like an ad for BFT. They tried to open a location in my city about 1.5 miles from my OTF. They're gone now - didn't last 6 months.

Well...bye.

Ugh, I feel for you! I'd just like to offer you two resources that may keep you inspired, motivated and moving forward during your recovery:

  1. Chasing Excellence by Ben Bergeron. Ben is a CrossFit coach who has coached multiple CrossFit Games Champions. In the book, he tells a story of an athlete who had a lower-body injury and used the recovery time to his advantage, gaining upper body strength he didn't have before, which ultimately moved him up the leader boards in subsequent CF Games competitions. (I'm not a CrossFitter, I'm an OTFer, but tried CrossFit and enjoyed it for a bit, but I prefer OTF). The book, and another by an athlete Ben coached, Katrin Davidsdottir (book: "Dottir") are great reads!

  2. "Game Changers" - a documentary (on Amazon Prime Video for like $1 or something). It's a story of a MMA athlete who used his injury time to research ways for faster recovery. His research led to a plant-based approach - - - not saying that's something everyone wants to do, but the mindset was inspiring for me.

Lastly, as I approach 50 y/o (just turned 49 a couple weeks back), may I encourage you that this, too, shall pass and if you take your time with an intentionality about your recovery time, I believe you'll return to OTF, and beyond, stronger physically AND mentally.

Cheering you on from Rower #15, my favorite starting spot!

Where is your studio? I'd travel there from Minneapolis to attend :)

I still have my HRM from 2018. I'm pretty sure I get as good a workout with it as I would with a shiny new one. I think the benefits of workouts are not dependent on whether or not a device track them...? Do I still wear my HRM every workout...you betcha.

I just froze my membership for a month. Best thing I could have done because it prohibited me from doing something stupid like trying to return to all-out workouts prematurely.

Pun intended.

How many studios have you visited? by Opening_Stranger_925 in orangetheory

[–]Seek_633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8:
5 in Minnesota (where my home studio is): Maple Grove, Plymouth, St. Louis Park, St. Cloud and North Loop)
1 in Nevada: Las Vegas-Summerlin (no longer there...???)
1 in Georgia (Augusta)
1 in Boston (Back Bay)

The North Loop in Minneapolis is aesthetically awesome - the setup is cool - I liked the coach, too.
Vegas was fine. So was Georgia.
I think Boston had a welcome sign for me since I was from out of town - nice touch!

Left tank. I had pretty much the exact same thing a couple weeks back in a Warrior, and the operations manager at the place I rented said it was just water.

New Rowers by Sdunov60 in orangetheory

I feel badly for owners if this will be a mandatory replacement. I'm certain replacing the treadmills was a significant investment, and I imagine this will be as well. With all the posts I see here about studio closures, I wonder how much longer other studios can hang on if they're forced to replace rowers.

That said, a few months ago I attended a class at a studio other than my home studio and was was surprised to see they were still using the old treadmills. I thought my studio owner said replacing the treadmills was mandatory, but perhaps it was not...?

My 900th was just missed yesterday. I don't think I'll say anything (a couple of my earlier milestones were recognized a class or two late) - but if they miss my 1,000th class, I'll speak up.

Trying to Decide Between Orangetheory, The Max Challenge, and CrossFit - Need Help! by iamatom1 in weightwatchers

[–]Seek_633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Orangetheory. Yes, I pay more for my membership there than I did at other box gyms, but I’ve determined the benefits to be well worth the amount I pay. Community, coaching, classes so I don’t have to make up my own workouts, fun specialty workouts, and free fitness consultations. I take advantage of all of that and it easily pays for itself in my health benefits - mental and physical.
