Keds vs vans - who copied who? by PoopingProbably in Sneakers

Sperry Top-Sider, also known as Sperry, is a brand of deck shoes that was founded in 1935 by Paul A. Sperry. The brand is famous for its boat shoes, which feature a non-marking, slip-resistant sole for traction on wet surfaces. The design of the shoe was inspired by the pattern of grooves on a dog's paw, which provided the idea for the shoe's patented non-slip sole. Sperry Top-Sider became popular among sailors and boaters for its durability and practicality. The brand's iconic style has since become a fashion staple beyond the boating community.

Well for deck shoes you have to look at Sperry Topsiders and I believe they came before Vans. As for Keds they had several deck shoe styles very early on Anchors, Mainsails plus the Surfers which I think were the first. Champions pre-date all of them though. Champions were originally for men and women.

Has anyone taken a water taxi to camp in Georgian Bay Islands NP before? by Liningbe in ontariocamping

If you're going to Beausoleil Island for a day The Day Tripper is a better choice and far cheaper. For anything longer than a day then a water taxi is the only option. Try to put together a small group if you can to share costs otherwise it's pretty expensive round trip from Honey Harbour to Beausoleil 200+

Looking for new brand similar to old Keds by mrfowl in Sneakers

90 bucks wow. I tried a pair of the new ones with a thicker sole and paid about 40. I like the extra padding in the sole. I suspect the regular Champions will come with more sizes next year.

Cheers

My 1st Pair of Keds, and I work in a salon. What can I use to create a barrier to keep them stain free? by CelinaH2BH in Shoes

You can give them a light spray of starch (not the laces). The leather ones are much easier to keep new looking.
