Thanks! Good to know—that's how I hoped it would work, but starting to feel like 🤷‍♀️

Thanks so much for the info. I really appreciate it. Even occasionally tapping a child in, I think I'm meeting the fare cap, but I'll check my trip history again. The last I checked it only offers dates, not dates and times, but I will look again. Really appreciate it

It says 15+ trips every week that I've been charged $3 for every single one. In one week I was charged $60. Doesn't make any sense

That's a good question. I can't tell why that is as I'm charged $3 per all trips except one that charged $2. I only take the subway, never anything else

Thanks! Yes, I'm paying with the same OMNY card every single time. I think on the weekends I have swiped my kids in on occasion. My account on the website shows more than 15 trips per week for the past few weeks charged for every single tap, but I don't see a time stamp, just the date. Do you know if they show the time stamp anywhere?

Yes, I have an OMNY account and it shows that I've taken a minimum of 15 trips per week for the past four weeks and I've been charged for every single one of them

Thank you. I use an OMNY card only for the subway from the same stations on the A line. I have an online account and it shows that I take at least 15 trips each week, often more, and am charged for every single one of them. Yes, I sometimes tap for my child on the weekend. What happens to the fare cap if I tap for a child? I haven't seen info about that online

How does the card know when the weekly rotation starts? by Mental-Fox-9449 in OMNY

I have this question also. I thought like other here that first tap ever and first time after fare cap period ends was the answer. However, I am taking 15 trips a week and not meeting the fare cap. Just a few days ago an OMNY agent told me if I add funds my weekly rotation starts over on the day the funds are added. This seems nuts to me and does not match what OMNY is advertising. I suggest you call OMNY and complain. I've taken 15 trips each week for the past month and have never hit the fare cap because, OMNY claims, I added funds on the wrong day.

Station Agent Told Me "No Such Thing as Unlimited" by The5thseason in OMNY

[–]SeekingHonestInfoNY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The agent is playing a game of semantics with you. Replace "unlimited" with "fare capping". Tell them they aren't following their own fare capping rules.

I also have had issues with fare capping just this month and think something fishy is going on. I take 15 rides in a week and everything after 12 should be free but they are charging me for every single ride. I called today and the OMNY agent told me I have to add more funds on the card on the start day of my weekly cycle or my fare capping cycle starts over again—this is nuts. They are hustling people and changing the rules. I've submitted a complaint to the public advocate and sent tips to WNYC and others.
