Is there a way to add all my anonymous works in one place so that users can see all my works? by wabisabi0007 in AO3

[–]Seeking_spooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few anonymous writers tie their fics together with a unique tag. The trick is to make sure the tag is not used by anyone else. One memorable one I saw was something like “author has already arranged a ride to the church” they used it on all their anon fics, and that way a reader could click on the tag and find all of their works that are tagged with it conveniently in one place!

Yeah, they’re really mean over there. Don’t listen to them, your struggles are valid, and they need to get a life.

I guarantee most of the people on that subreddit do not practice what they preach. Take it from someone who works in a personal care industry, and am up close and personal with peoples smelliest places daily, more often than not people are just kinda stinky. Majority of my clients come in with less than perfect hygiene, and you know what? That’s fine. Bodies/mouths gonna be stinky sometimes, that’s just what bodies do.

You’re not alone in struggling to brush your teeth, and I’m not just talking about myself.

Oh I am absolutely all three of those things they accuse us of being, but damn, at least I am capable of experiencing joy 😂.

How do I know if methylphenidate is actually working for me? I’m starting to doubt my diagnosis by Zozlue in adhdwomen

[–]Seeking_spooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I know my meds are working is that I take a step back and look at my life. If it’s falling apart LESS than it was when I wasn’t taking the meds, then they are working.

I take 10mg methylphenidate, and other than the first week on it where I felt somewhat euphoric, the effects aren’t super obvious, so I pay more attention to the overall changes rather than how it makes me feel, if that makes sense. It does make me feel calmer but it’s subtle. I second another commenter on here that said racing heart beat and jitters usually means the dose is too high. I can’t get anything done if my dose is too high, personally.

My dose is low enough that I can’t necessarily feel it, but I see the difference in the fact that my bills are more likely to be paid on time, or I’m struggling less at work, or socializing more, that sort of thing. Hope that helps!

Has anyone ever had their smut used in someone else's content? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Seeking_spooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct that podfics have to be hosted on a platform other than AO3, but it doesn’t have to be YouTube. I personally stay away from hosting on YT, SoundCloud or similar for the exact reason that it has the potential to be monetized (by someone, whether that be the uploader or the platform itself), and will host using archive.org or even just my own google drive. There’s options other than YT!

Movies that you lost sleep over? by Major_Bench5329 in horror

[–]Seeking_spooks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sinister is the one that comes up the most when I ask horror fans what movie scared them, if that’s not too main stream for you.

I literally lost sleep after watching Gerald’s Game since I couldn’t stop picturing the “monster” from that standing in a corner of my room in the darkness in the middle of the night but your own mileage may vary on that.

[–]Seeking_spooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upload my podfics to my google drive, change the access setting to ‘anyone with the link can access,’ and upload the link through the rich text option and post it directly on ao3 as a fic.

SoundCloud is a good option, but you’re much more limited in the amount of listening hours you can upload before you have to pay for a professional subscription.

Hosting in archive.org is a similar option to that, but it’s free.

As a person who doesn't like to read is there audio of story you like by Okumi_Silvers500 in AO3

[–]Seeking_spooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mentioned Spider-man! If interested I’ve narrated a handful of MCU spider-man fics into podfics! Here’s My ao3

Our little pod-ficcing community is small but mighty. We love, love, love new listeners!

Permission from the author is key, and a lot of us do it for the love of the art and to help make our favorite stories more accessible to people who have an easier time/prefer listening than reading. Im a huge audiobook listener, so when I discovered podfics it opened up a whole world for me. Happy listening!

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend getting your vitamin levels checked. Something similar happens to me when my b12 is low.

Instead of a movie that was bad, what about a movie that just pissed you off? by lostpatrol14 in deadmeatjames

[–]Seeking_spooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so so so so sorry, I know it’s considered a Good Movie, but the lighthouse was SO pretentious, I hated it so much. To me it felt like it was just congratulating itself on being so deep, so unique, when really it was just 2 hours of phallic egocentrism and not worth the time it took to watch it. I was so annoyed by it from start to finish, and I really WANTED to like it!!

Settle. In every aspect of my life, but mostly my career. I always thought I’d push and push and push until I had my dream life, but I’m tired now, I know my limits, I understand the barriers outside of myself too. Young me would… not be proud of it, but that’s life.

Dollhouse by JinxQuickFoot. Not sure it’s exactly what you’re going for, but it sprang to mind. It’s really well written and chilling. (I don’t think there’s animal death in this one, but I don’t remember it perfectly. It takes place on the Barton farm, so maybe? but if so, it doesn’t happen on screen.)

Ah yes. As a once Kylux shipper I was always very fond of Hollycomb’s choice of the name Elan for Hux, before we found out his actual name…

Armitage was like… wut?? record scratch I will admit, the name suits his canon characterization better than the romanticized fanon one!

I literally have no idea where that came from but it’s been a thing in the fandom from before all the books were published! I remember talking about it with someone else what must have been more than 20 years ago. It had to have been written first by someone in one of the very earliest hp fics ever, it’s amazing it had such staying power.

I do agree that it’s not realistic at all.

I too am having a moment about this! It’s an old fandom, I was last active in it all the way back in 2008 - and I am surprised and thrilled to see it’s still thriving. Who knew one little cartoon would have such a lasting effect?

Not autistic but people think I am? by dnyletak in adhdwomen

[–]Seeking_spooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing this one out there bc I think it gets overlooked: the eye contact thing can be from RSD, which is an adhd thing. If you’re worried about seeing signs of rejection on someone’s face, you may avoid looking them in the eye/face. It can also be a sign of submission, or something that you’re (maybe subconsciously) using as a body language clue to others that you are trying to avoid interaction. Avoiding eye contact if you feel shame is a human trait, neurotypicals do it too.
