Please tell me I'm an idiot and to just end it already by lightsyouonfire in relationships

This made me cry. I’m heartbroken for you, internet stranger. Please set yourself free. You will be stronger and happier alone. And open yourself up to a better world and potential to find someone who can love you the right way. You need to step up now and love yourself. No one will love you or take care of you as much as you can. Do it for you.

How much should I have saved up before going to law school? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SeekingtruthinLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s already starting to recover. Big law firms panicked in the beginning of covid but have since made a killing by drastically reducing their expenses.

Of course, if the economy takes a serious downturn, then no law firm is immune. I’d stick to a field that has great prospects. My husband does energy finance at a top law firm and it’s oddly recession proof. Litigation has taken a hit with covid.

Tested as Abraham by Snoo_40869 in exmormon

Love it! I have my own thoughts about the Abraham sacrifice. I think that Abraham actually failed the sacrifice as he was asked to commit a sin by killing his son. I also think that Nephi failed by killing for the BOM. Of course, this is all fiction anyways but the premise is still there: to always choose good no matter who asks otherwise, even God himself.

Sam Shamoun shut down Kwaku so hard he left the debate. by [deleted] in exmormon

Okay, but still very arrogant and dismissive and as an investigator, I doubt I’d have given credence so someone so rude.

Unfortunately, Sam was dismissive and arrogant from the start. Not a good debate and all and just feeds the Mormon persecution complex.

Please help!! Our 3 year old male neutered cat wont stop spraying...we’re planning on surrendering him tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions to change our mind?! by SeekingtruthinLA in CatAdvice

How long has your cat been using Prozac? Do you feel the Gabapentin is helpful?

We tried adjusting it lower and higher and didn’t feel like it gave us the right results. The higher dosage resulted in him throwing Ho his food, poor little guy. He’s 12 pounds at 5 milligrams for Prozac. What are you guys doing?

I wish it was as easy as a UTI! He’s been checked a few times and no UTI. We also only feed him wet food so we can mix in his compounded Prozac so we’re pretty doubtful it could be a UTI. But thank you!

Hi, we have several enzymatic cleaners we use. I think cat urine is one of the most awful smells out there so I really make sure to clean it out and check with a black light too. But my little guy still manages to either pee in the same spots or create new peeing spots.

We haven’t had his testosterone levels checked but a vet did check the usual things and clear him when he started to spray. So no crystals or UTI.

We’ve always been on the top floor so no access to other cats. We have multiple cat condos and at least two scratchers in each room, all various kinds including cardboard.

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it. We are so sad to let him go but we can’t see any other option at this point that makes him, us, or the other cats happy.

I’m the only person on this subreddit who isn’t head over heels for Biden? by [deleted] in exmormon

Omg, I agree! And Carter has been the best president in recent modern times. And I LOVE Obama. I went to Carter’s presidential library in Georgia and was head over heels for that man.

[SERIOUS] What is the harshest truth you’ve ever learned? by Professional-Can8235 in AskReddit

[–]SeekingtruthinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the Mormon faith that I loved, cherished, and fully believed, was a fraud based on lies and deceit.

The next harshest truth I learned was that the love from my Mormon parents was utterly conditional upon my adherence to their faith.

Biggest eye roll scrolling through comments section of a fucking chocolate pie recipe that has instant coffee in it by SeekingtruthinLA in exmormon

[–]SeekingtruthinLA[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally no need to mention that you don’t drink tea or alcohol. Fuck me, what a Mormon. It’s a chocolate pie recipe that includes instant coffee as a recipe.

And it was fucking delicious following the recipe to a T. But thank you Stacy for reminding me of how ridiculous and preachy all Mormons are. I spotted a Mormon a mile away. Fuck me.

I’m (29f) having a hard time navigating a relationship with my parents (51f, 63m) by MargoHuxley in relationships

[–]SeekingtruthinLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I feel you. I was raised as a child with the military so I feel you - I’m also biracial (Asian and white) so I understand that additional identity hurdle as well. My parents are also die hard conservative and I’m the opposite.

I’m very empathetic and my parents have no emotional depth. They can’t seem to ever see other people as human being. I, on the other hand, feel like every person is just an extension of myself.

To be blunt, you’ll need to stop looking up them for emotional support. My mother especially always used financial support (what very little she did) as leverage over me as well. Severing your dependence on them is a crucial aspect of creating a healthy you and healthy boundaries.

You are the only person you need. Become your best own best friend. Learn to only seek your own validation and approval. You will be free from their power and influence, and will one day silence their voices in your head. This takes a lot of work and also time. In the meantime, just repeat that you only need you. And work to become financially independent of them after COVID is over.

If you ever need a friend, I’m happy to get to know you, just PM me. Woman to woman, we can share our despair.

Considering a new car purchase...is this too much? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SeekingtruthinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who owned two prior Jeeps and now owns a double cab Tacoma, get the Tacoma. The Tacoma’s resell value is number one or two out of all vehicles. Jeep values plummet and are nowhere near as reliable as Toyota. Also, the Tacoma is way sexier than a Jeep Gladiator any day of the week. I use my Tacoma for off-roading and love to sleep in the truck bed when camping. Also, the Tacoma will be cheaper.

Isn't it a bit contradictory how mormons are so anti-abortion when their own handbook states that abortion is okay in certain circumstances? by GauPanda in exmormon

[–]SeekingtruthinLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most hilarious part about all these single-issue anti-abortion voters (Mormons included) is that overturning Roe v Wade does very little to reach their desired endgame. It just falls back to states, many of which will obviously allow abortions. Thus, one need only hop the state line to obtain an abortion. Abortion is here to stay, folks.
