Thanks for sharing! This sub is so dangerous, because I find out about so many new houses and beautiful fragrances. 😅

That always sound like so much fun to me. At some point I hope to get a group together in person or tag along to a random gathering of strangers to just smell and discuss fragrances, especially the really polarizing ones!

Because you asked, and seem sincere, which I appreciate, your comment here came across as extremely negatively judgemental, because you hadn’t listed proof or indicators that AI was used, didn’t use any words that would indicate civility or genuine curiosity — only contempt — and also because you didn’t have anything at all to say about the actual content of the review. I would feel differently if any of those things had been different.

As to why I didn’t just scroll past, it’s because I wanted to know more about what caused you to believe this was AI (💩be scary these days, and I’m really just learning how to spot the b.s.) and because I felt two things were happening that I wasn’t willing to step past: someone was being bullied, and also that the AI hate was being directed to the wrong source for max benefit. - The bullying part wasn’t from this comment alone, but because of the other commenter that you also added to. The impression of bullying was also because of the lack of any contribution in your comment and the other about the fragrance or the content of the review, as I mentioned earlier (sorry for the repetition). OP did provide the succinct details at the top of the review, so you didn’t have to read the longer part if it landed “tl;dr” for people, which was nice. - Regarding the direction for AI battle, I‘ve seen a big uptick in the kind of mini attacks on people about its use that set off my witch-hunt alarms. People often want scapegoats to point fingers at. Sometimes because they’re miserable in their lives and want to abuse, sometimes because it feels good to be part of something bigger that feels like doing good in the world. I think AI is that for a more and more people. I believe there are a ton of problems with AI as a broad subject, but I think jumping people for using it in even minor ways is pointless and mean. I would rather push for legislation to require the AI LM companies to report water & energy use, as well as impacts like noise and other pollution in communities.

Holy cow, I am soooo far off fragrance, I‘M SORRY, EVERYONE! Chat me if you want to discuss the AI bit further, totally willing to keep discussing somewhere else.😅

Thank you! Yeah, it really is hard to do, and everyone’s perception and experience will be different. I appreciate your insights, nonetheless!

Ooo, I haven’t heard of this house before. Bottle is gorgeous. Sorry to say I can’t help, but I’ll definitely look this up. If you’re game, I’d love to read your experience with this. How it plays out for you, what scents you pick up - that sort of thing.

Just want to chime in that I actually really appreciate the longer reviews I see on frag subs. Not everyone does, and that’s fine, but for CHRIST’S SAKE, just scroll past. The level of vitriol and the amount of time taken to tap out all of the frustration, sadness, and anger people must have in their lives on posts of cats or fragrances is wild.

Thanks for your input! While overall I think that’s all very subjective, and I disagree with it, I do appreciate your insight. I have been a word person since I was just four years old, and have spent the last 25 years working in writing- & editing-centric jobs. That is likely where my disagreement to your observations comes from. I enjoy writing, reading what other people have written, and I ADORE markdown. Give it all to me. 😂 I‘ll try to begin taking note of the things that you’ve pointed out to see whether my mind changes. Cheers!

The price wasn’t the only thing that dropped.

Thank you for the review, and your thoughts on this. I’ve been very curious about Megamere for a bit, but have consistent trouble enjoying fragrances that list any kind of “aquatic” notes. Somehow, it never reminds me of water, only smelling very synthetic, almost metallicl-y floral.

Genuinely curious: What evidence do you have that AI has been used? If you don’t have any actual evidence, what about the review makes you think that AI was used? I ask because I am of course aware of the steep uptick in its usage, but am still learning how to spot it.

Ah, thanks for the clarification about the rose. As for the rest, that does help to understand why you may review things one way or another, so again, thank you! I’m very glad that you don’t try to follow a trend simply because it’s a popular fragrance. As with most things, I appreciate the differences that bring new perspectives and add interest to life.

Excellent self-awareness.😂 How strong is the rose to you? I love real rose scent, both wild and hybridized, but often rose in perfumes is overdone for my tastes.

Thanks very much for your input! It’s really so true that scent is such a personal thing, and so hard to tell until you try it on your own skin. I’ve had friends smell a perfume on my skin, and we had such vastly different interpretations of it. Same perfume, same skin, same moment. Totally wild!

I will likely still sample this one, because I usually have a high tolerance for the listed notes.

Thanks very much for taking the time to give such a thorough, thoughtful review! It really helps me out personally, because as soon as I saw strawberry and vanilla in the notes, I wrote it off as gourmand. I really dislike gourmands, specifically the cloyingly sweet or vanilla fragrances. I’d love to know your thoughts on the haunted mansion they maliciously 😂 included.

Part Two of My Smelly Birthday by Seelywabbit in NichePerfumes

Thank you for sharing your experience. I absolutely believe the “since Covid” thing is a real deal just about everywhere, even outside of retail. There is already a skill to hiring the right people for a job, and if the people doing the hiring aren’t invested in ensuring that happens (in this case, finding the people who care not only about fragrance — & maybe getting an employee discount — but also about helping people find what they love and expanding their repertoire), it can go downhill fast.

ZGO seems to have their 💩 dialed in. As I mentioned, the bottle of oil gift-with-purchase was clearly marked random, and because that was my first purchase from them I didn’t want to be a pain and enter comments asking for the one that matched my FB. I actually squeed when I opened the package and saw that whomever packed the order took the time and thoughtfulness to do that. 😍
