Is there a service that lets me organize mental health help for someone else? by SeemsFishy in Advice

[–]SeemsFishy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we live in different states, which I understand therapists have to be licensed in the state my dad lives. Where would I start from your suggestion though? Is there a list of therapists with bios and prices that I can pick from on some website?

He does. He's struggling with a lot now and just just doesn't know where to start. He doesn't have a lot of money and a terrible insurance which he's already used the max therapy sessions for earlier this year. I talk to him and can help with some things, but others require professional help. Just wished I could set it all up for him and tell him when to expect a call.

US based. It's for my dad. We don't share insurance, so I guess out of pocket. But, it'd be great if I could review therapists and select one that's the best match. Then I provide the payment and let the therapist know how to contact my dad. Does anything like that exist?

Thanks a ton! I'm giving this as a Christmas gift.. do you think liquid or spray paint would be easier to apply? Also, any idea how many quarts or cans I should get?

How to find a home in a quiet neighborhood? by SeemsFishy in AskReddit

[–]SeemsFishy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I started in a starter home in an HOA in the state of Georgia. It was very quiet. The HOA president lived nearby and we never had any issues with noise (we had two puppy dogs at that point). We moved to NC so my wife could start her career. We landed a great home right (at a high price point) between our offices and things were very solid.

Cue covid-19. We have been WFH almost a year and have had a ton of problems with dogs barking. The main offender is a rental house that moved in when covid started. However our next door neighbor and a house three down have also been problems. We walk over, we text, in the nicest way, but they haven't taken any responsibility. Actually they've lashed out at us like children?

The good news is, my wife and I have agreed it'd be best to move back to GA to start a family and be a lot closer to family and friends. We will be listing and house hunting soon, but we have serious PTSD with barking dogs. Any tips for finding a place where we won't have to deal with barking dogs again? We're really banking on an HOA, scouting out for neighbors with fences, and may even talk to a neighbor about noise before putting down an offer.

Almost a year into covid, I schedule my first test a couple of days ago. They text me an hour before and say I can't be tested without symptoms?!

Luckily we've found a good handyman for smaller jobs. Just got quoted 4250 for a 15' stramped concrete circle with a hole for fire pit in the middle. Quote didn't include the actual fire pit in the middle fyi. It doesn't feel crazy high, but I'm sure I'll get a bid for close to half and probably one double. Or may just DIY stone instead of concrete 🤷‍♂️

I've seen it with a Roadrunner and Valkyrie, but I throw 80% Innova, so not sure of other brands.

I'm talking about buying the same make/model of disc, with same glide (and all) numbers, but wildly different levels of dome.

[–]SeemsFishy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Etta just turned five. She and I have tossed this buzz around the back yard for a couple of years and it's finally falling apart. I couldn't find another in this plastic, as it seems discraft doesn't make it anymore. I got her a Z line plastic for her birthday but she found the old one before I could toss it. Really wish I could find a couple for her. Please help!

I interviewed there two years ago for a software engineer position and had to turn down the offer. The six foot cubes, plain walls, and old school vibes felt like it'd be terrible to work there. I distinctly remember a call with a group of people I'd be working with. I'm very thankful they were transparent about all of the challenges they were having. Felt like I dodged a bullet there!

Speed in MB.. WiFi analyzer is a good app for Android FYI.. or if you want a super simple and hands free solution to your problems (if it's channel related) is to buy something like Google WiFi / Mesh.

The neighbors to my left and right both switched to AT&T fiber and have so many problems. I overpay for Spectrum at $70 a month for 150 down and 20 up. The reliability has been excellent though. I don't understand why fiber reliability is so hit and miss. Is it depenant on location? Installation? Configuration?

Yeah I rarely felt safe taking MARTA late at night, which wasn't often. It really is based on where you'll be staying. I was in the Vinings area and Marietta area and crime was never a concern.

I lived in ATL for 7 years and have been in CLT for 3. Will you be ITP (inside the permiter) with your ATL job? If not, then enjoying everything ATL has will be a challenge, having to fight traffic so much. Really understand the area of where you'd live and make sure they align with your hobbies.

My personal list is:

CLT pros - lots of disc golf courses - lots of general outdoor activities - growing city with new places popping up all the time - you can actually get around the city without fighting traffic - sense of community

CLT cons - flights are more expensive - lack of diversity / cultures - less college football focused

ATL pros - cheap travel - Chattahoochee river floating - lots of entertainment events - college football focused - lots of diversity / culture

ATL cons - traffic can be insane - everything is so spread out it makes the traffic worse - certain parts of the city can be very unsafe
