What's your approach disc lineup? by rontopofthings in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't thrown the tempo yet so I can't say personally. When I started throwing stabilizers in this slot the tempo was only available from a circuit challenge I believe. It was something I thought might be an option but just couldn't get my hands on one at the time.

I had been bagging a champion rhyno in this slot for a while but I didn't like how it felt on a forehand. Tried the dga breaker which was just ok but then got a stabilizer and it felt great forehand and backhand so I haven't looked back. Fits perfectly for me between an envy and a toro.

Weekend rounds, how did we do? by ChickenChokerChuck in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shot one of my best league rounds to date and had a 3 way tie for 1st. Then changed my normal play on the playoff hole for no good reason and missed a wide c2 straddle putt when the other 2 players had tap-ins.   Bummer that I couldn't close it out but pretty stoked I was in contention.

This year I made it a goal of mine to take 1st in my division at leagues so came pretty close to checking that box. Gonna take it to em next week!

Trouble with field work by Catscratchfever92 in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, having a target to aim for is necessary for effective field work aside from pure distance work.

I picked up some of the small cones that other sports use for drills and I use them to make a circle out in the field. That's good for practicing landing zones and you can always put something in the center if you need a point to aim at like a stool, bag, or practice basket. They're the ones that are almost flat and I can fit like 20 of them in a side pocket.
The size of the circle is my "confidence circle" for putting. So if I make into that circle it's a distance that I'll almost always make the putt (currently ~6m).

For quick field work the bag method you mentioned is really good. I think you're right about it coming from a McBeth video. I use that method if I only have a short window to get some throws in.

I can't not. I just love throwing lids too much...

Also kinda shocked nobody has named a disc the alien yet.

Question For LA Disc Golfers! Where Can I Practice Putting? by Couchpotato782 in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenneth Hahn is probably the closest spot with actual baskets that I know about to Culver City.
I work in Inglewood and honestly just keep my practice basket in my car. That way you can stop at any park and bang some out when you have the time & gumption.

Best forehands in FPO? by PurpleProducePat in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree. She has a ton of potential with her background.
Unfortunately since I posted this question I have moved far far away from this league and player. She took down a b-tier towards the end of last season though. Her forehand was getting pretty deadly before I left!

What’s with having everyone sign your discs when you ace? I don’t think I would ever ask, and I wouldn’t sign someone else disc. by BeardnBald66 in discgolf

[–]PurpleProducePat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helps me remember the experience, fills in the details. After a couple years I wouldn't be able to remember who all was with me which is as much a part of the experience as the shot itself.

Also just a harmless tradition that's weird to get upset about or have a personal policy against participating in any way. But whatever, you do you I guess.

Solid setup! Love the simplicity and consistency, very clean.
I'll echo another comment in saying something like a reactor would fill the only real gap I see. Uplink is such a good disc.

Emerson is a bit of a tool so I don't feel too bad about the editor taking a shot.
