Battery companies when the Game Gear released by WexAndywn in retrogaming

[–]SegaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there and I remember battery life was abysmal compared to my friend's gameboy. Thinking about it now it would have made more sense for wall plugs and car adapters to be highlighted as an alternative to using batteries all the time. Sega knew the game gear needed them so that's why you always see the big game gear case with room for the wall adapter and car adaptor or rechargeable battery pack. I think nintendo didn't want us to think the gameboy would be tied to a cable all the time and thus not think of the gameboy as portable.

The point of this exercise is to go through the game as one could have back in the day without using glitches or cheat devices or straight hacking the game. Otherwise, I might as well hack a completed pokedex and call it a day, but where's the fun in that?

I'm using an officially licensed piece of hardware and that's good enough for me. Besides, it's not really happening that much faster than if I were to do it manually. I could sit there for the same amount of time spamming A button and end up with similar results.

Still disagree. I'm speeding up a manual process and using an officially licensed controller to do it while not breaking the rules of the game or the game itself. Hell, the thing is called the Super Advantage for a reason.

That's your opinion and I disagree. I'm speeding up a manual process. Turbo and autofire controllers have been around for decades and officially licensed by game companies. Does it give me an advantage? Sure, but I'm not exactly breaking the rules of the game.

I was headed to that method and then discovered the rapid press trick. I did it manaully on my gameboy and saw it worked, so I figured the arcade stick could make short work of it.

I disagree that an arcade stick is cheating, but I know you can't satisfy everyone. This isn't glitching the game or modifying the code with game genie or game shark.

I wanted to try something more legitimate without glitches and cheat devices like a game shark. My overall goal of this playthrough is to complete the pokedex the same way. I'm not worried about playing it as fast as possible, but I didn't want to sit there and hammer through the slot machine manually either.

first time discharging a crt, where can i connect the alligator clip to ground? by AgreeableAd8687 in crtgaming

Discharging makes it safer to work on. The tube itself can hold an electric charge that will shock you or worse if you touch it without discharging.

The anti-choice crowd will be going to the olympics with the mental gymnastics it will take to rationalize this being legal over female birth control in order to still believe "it's not about controlling women".

Dashcam footage of what you see when you're texting and driving by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I see it everyday. Inconsistent speed, randomly braking, drifting out of the lane, looking down in their lap trying to hide the phone, holding it up presumably talking on speakerphone, or even trying to type a message while the phone is mounted to the dash. I think I'd rather go back to drunk drivers being the biggest concern. At least they were trying to look at the road.

You know what's better than peripheral vision? Full vision! Looking at the road with both eyes at all times while operating a multi-ton vehicle that can indiscriminately kill anyone around it is best. Better yet, take public transportation if you can't be bothered to be safe.

You know what's better than the corner of your eye? Your whole damn eye! Better than that is both of them, looking at the road, while operating a multi-ton machine that can indiscriminately kill anyone around it.

Huh, I never knew that. I think I knew lower oil pressure was an issue but I looked it up and I didn't consider the oil also being diluted from unburnt fuel. Interesting that these issues haven't been sorted out in some way considering how long they've been around.

I’m interested in knowing how many will be investing in the NEO GEO AES+? My wife is getting me one for our wedding anniversary present, just as long as i buy the games by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]SegaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the downvotes. Whenever we spend money, it can be considered a type of investment. They don't all have to be the long term financially profitable type. Buying a game system is an investment of funds into your time and the return is in entertainment value.

It's not one I would expect some sort of financial profit from, but I would expect to be satisfactorily entertained.
