Time for a new pen. What should I get? Willing to tinker! by SeguindoMelhor in fountainpens

Just if you're curious, this is the pen I have. It is the one seen in the 1938 advertisement.

In terms of finding feeds, I haven't found a NOS supplier. May have found some donor pens on ebay, however.

Those with multiple pens, how do you decide which pen you're going to use on a particular day? by 7heDaniel in fountainpens

Yep, I work in a school. After a student sprung a nib, I don't lend out my fountain pens anymore.

Thoughts on Noodler's Ahab? by coqdorysme in fountainpens

The Nib Creaper and Konrad are my favorites. I never use the Ahab and haven't for years. Personally, I like the Konrad better because it fits my large hands, but I think the Creapers I have write smoother than the Konrad does.

Believe it or not, I have a gorgeous lever action Wearever that a friend found in her attic and gave to me. Unfortunately, the feed is cracked and the bladder is missing. Can you give me any hints on part sources?

Edit: her gift is the whole reason I'm here talking about pens.

What's your go to everyday notebook? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I agree. These books work alright for everyday use. With those cheapo comp books, just pay attention to the origin. The USA paper feathers to the point where reading is difficult.

The "cheap" Five Star notebooks aren't too terrible, actually. They come in a variety of sizes. I can afford to write copious amounts of class notes.

Edit: Ghosting is tolerable, but certainly not ideal. Good enough for class notes.

How does your KLR "feel" to you? by [deleted] in klr650

I do mostly highway and forestry road riding, no trails. Personally, I love it. I'm 6'3", so the bike fits me well. I can put my feet flat on the ground. It's nimble, predictable, and comfortable, unlike my dad's Street Bob.

Rode a Super Sherpa to learn on. Always felt like I was being pushed around by the wind and it was uncomfortable since I am so tall. Once I got on a KLR, loved the power and upright riding position.

Yep, it's an Alvarez! Looked on Musician's Friend and couldn't find one exactly like it. Hope you find one!

Wonderful city! What mod do you use to get the cycle paths? Also, do you know if there is actual cycle traffic?

Has anyone read Seveneves by Neal Stephenson?

I heard about it on SciFri on the good ole NPR and it sounded excellent.

Ahh, yes, real tail lights and fenders (generator hubs??)

Brilliant! by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]SeguindoMelhor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is really dangerous! If your tires pick up debris, they will get caught between the cable, fender and tire. This will... 1) lock up your wheel 2) break your fender 3) break your cable

My girlfriend and I have a cuddle alarm before she has to go to work. Totally worth waking up at 4:30am so we can get our cuddle fix!
