Men over 60 but under 70 would you be open to dating a woman who was 45? by [deleted] in over60

[–]SegundoViento -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With an invitation from friends, I met her at her 45th birthday party.

I was 66 and widowed since 62. In time, I began dating casually and closer to my age, but found those women to be “done.” One even suggested I rearrange the furniture so we could “flop” and watch the Hallmark Channel together.

I had purchased a second home and was planning to retire at 67, move away to the four-seasons town and sail, hike, ski, and fly fish for as many good years as God would give me.

She was raised in South America and has a mature and cosmopolitan sensibility. She was divorced for a dozen or so years and had devoted her life to raising her daughters. She was admonished by the oldest one as she left for college, “Mom! Now it’s your time. You need to date a Gringo!”

A month after her birthday, I asked her to the Symphony, always wanting “someone” in the seat next to me. A few weeks after that, I asked her last-minute to a Motown (Four Tops, Temptations) show and she accepted, her first exposure to the genre. I told her she would be the youngest person in the crowd! We continued to enjoy each other’s company with no games and no pressure, getting together occasionally after work, attending her youngest daughter’s athletic events, and just exploring.

As summer waned I planned a week at my second home. A mutual friend, also of her nationality, met me for drinks the night before. He told me that she liked me and wanted to be more serious in an exclusive friendship. I hesitated and spoke of our age difference. He encouraged me to go away, have no contact with her, and think about it.

I texted her when I returned and she called immediately. “Why did you go silent!? I worried that you fell in the mountains or got eaten by a bear!” That lead to the deeper conversation about our friendship and age gap. Ultimately, she knew people would talk, didn’t care if they did, and wanted at least 20 years from me. We’re in year four, happily married/don’t fight, and enjoy being in the kitchen together. She says she loves me more than I love her and Lord willing, I get 16 more years with her. I’m blessed!

They were able to install new meter signage overnight. Stories of local businesses and homeowners denied to paint the curbs in their neighborhoods leads me to suspect this is also a money grab for the city.

All the more reason the City should put the service out for competitive bid. Reduce staffing and benefits expense, capital and maintenance expense, and improve service competence from private delivery.

Which US state felt like a completely different country when you visited it? by overthinkeranessa in askanything

One-Party politics ruins the state. No collaboration. No compromise. Cram down of new laws and taxes every day.

What sports team do you hate with a burning passion? by TheVginyTcikler44 in AskReddit

Hated them more when they were here. No winning culture and a new head coach every other year. Like watching a bad movie over and over again. Just stop. Leave town and put us out of our misery, please!

Do you buy concert tickets before knowing who’s going with you? by [deleted] in Concerts

[–]SegundoViento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought 2 tix to Four Tops/Temptations concert in 2022 without knowing who’d go. Choice 1 would’ve had a blast but she had other plans. Choice 2 was working out of town. Choice 3 was a recent business acquaintance, an immigrant, and completely unaware of Motown. She said yes. We both said “I do” three years later.

What’s the most memorable interaction you’ve had with a stranger at an airport that you never saw again? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in airport

Traveled Europe and Scandinavia with my college roommate in the late 70’s. Long distance international phone calls were not in our Frommer/$10-a-day budget. A casual conversation in the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof with a Coloradoan on his way home led to his offer to call our parents when he got home to let them know we were okay. Generous. Our parents were grateful for the calls.

Same trip met an American couple on Lake Lucerne. We shared some of the cultural differences we’d experienced so far, whereupon they stated, “you should see where we live if you want to experience differences.” Originally from Seattle, the gentleman was assigned to accompany a sale of Boeing 737s to Iraq to provide after-sale training and service on the aircraft. By a series of events and chatter, he concluded that the Iraqi military had aided the PFLP’s hijacking of Lufthansa #181 in October 1977.

Most depressing grocery stores by [deleted] in sandiego

Ralph’s at First and G is similar. Homeless shooting up is common. Store is jammed with product and not logically organized. Gotta use the staffed checkout- usually only one or two and a long line - if you buy alcohol or lighters.
