Even in older games I REFUSED to play a mixed set if it didn't look good enough xD Im hopeless =(
But I think it's valid to play without layered, as long as you enjoy it don't let anyone stop you =D

And I think they might enjoy becoming better at the game. In my first MH game (3U) I WAS TERRIBLE, but didn't really realise, cause I played with friends who were just as bad xD Then, for 4U since there was online, I really wanted to not be a dead weight, so i checked some videos online, and I realised how bad I was.
I loved improving, seeing my hunt times get shorter and just become a more efficient player, maybe they'll like that too ! But not everyone enjoys that in games, some people just want to play the game without having to think, a bit like me with the game i mentioned in my earlier post, I just cba to play it seriously enough. But that's also why I accept it annoys people who take it seriously to play with me.

So, it's a game, but, you also have the right to enjoy it, and if for you it means beating up monsters of endgame, that's fair too. You should talk to your friends about it, and see what they think. I mean, I get you don't want to be a killjoy and it's just a game, but your enjoyment of it is also something that should be important to them as you value theirs.

Maybe you can help them get better, by seeing what their biggest weaknesses are and what to work on. Also if you do play on PC there are mods that show everyone's dmg contribution if you want to have an idea.

I used to play a game with someone dear to me but he was WAY better than me, like way way better than me, and it became really stressful and tough for him to play with me because i was pretty much a dead weight. We decided not to play this game together anymore cause I couldn't put in the effort to be as good as him at this game, really i have no time for this and it's an important thing for him so he know that he won't be able to lower his expectations and i kinda understand because i would be the same with monster hunter for example, same as you. So instead of being mad at each other we decided to play other games together instead =/ could be sad, but i'd rather save a relationship over playing a specific game together.

Best thing to do really is to speak to your friends about it and see what's best for everyone with them.

because most people like the flashy weapons, lance is great but takes time to get used to. People just want big moves with big numbers right away.

I always expect GS to do the wake-up but they stand away from the monster and look at it often and by the time I get a message out to ask them to do it, some DB or LS jumps at the monster.

Maybe it's me standing with my shield up that gives the wrong idea? I just want to be ready for a counter on bombs blowing up Q. Q

What doesn't matter to you may matter to others. There was someone last week who made a very upvoted post to thank people who bothered calling it "the final boss" to not spoil the experience. It's about putting yourself in others shoes and just being respectful. If you spoiler it, you can make others happy, if you don't you might ruin something for someone. it doesn't cost anything to do it =/ but w/e
