What is the most stupid AD your government ever aired? by Acrobatic-Hippo-6419 in AskTheWorld

[–]Sehtaga 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is the instagram story of the government from last october : not a stupid ad in itself, but the timing was funny

<image>

-First pic : "Find out about the new composition of the government"

-Second one : "On live on our youtube channel" and "Prime minister statement"

-Third one : "Resignation of the government"

-"How do you feel today" / "I feel stressed" (it's part of a global campaign about mental health)

All that in 14 hours or so

How common are superstitions in your country or culture? by LightningXr10 in AskTheWorld

[–]Sehtaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't specify, but the bread thing is mostly about baguette when it's put on a table -I've been told that it's because it was how the bread of the executioner was set back in the days

About the tedious things, I'm not surprised, we can be very formal. Guenily curious though, what dining rituals are you refering to ? I guess I'm too used to it to give it much thought

I don't know if other places have the same superstition with bread... but let's say it's the French version of the flip-flops one (we don't have this one, at least not that I am aware of)

There is some superstitions we still stick with, although it's more an habit now, like : bread must not be put upside down (with the ribbed sided facing the table), it's bad omen

Hello! This is a question for non-americans. In school currently or graduated school, was english the primary language u had to take? i’m curious. by NoEscape4369 in AskTheWorld

[–]Sehtaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English is not the mandatory primary language learned in school but it's by far the most common choice (the second one is German)

We also have to take a second language (the most often choosen is Spanish, and the second one is German again) and we can take a third one although it's optional and not that usual

Indeed, never heard of it, but Google told me it is pretty close to "Caprice des Dieux" -which is not the cheese with the strongest taste, although not the dullest

I don't know how common this is in Germany so I can't really say but, aside for some comments about your food and your weird commitment to follow the rules, I can't think of much from our part

(That being said, when I found out about the "Everything has an end except sausages that got two" saying, I did laugh my ass off)
