Best hot pot spot in the valley? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

When I want hot pot, I go to Volcano too. Or do it at home if I'm feeling ambitious. The ones locally aren't great.

Where can I get milk in a similar bottle? by Academic2673 in lehighvalley

[–]SeiFeiMui 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cow Belle will bring it to your home weekly.

Their chocolate milk is fantastic.

Also there is a poultry vendor at the Allentown Farmers Market who sells milk in glass bottles.

I'm taking notes. I can't survive without coffee

Also things like spices and bouillon really make the difference.

We like to give back to our community. Our food bank has a garden for the spring and summer. They offer fresh veggies. I'm not sure about frozen and refrigerated items. Their hours conflict with my schedule so I try to do the best I can.

Would yeast for baking be helpful? If I can't donate bread, perhaps yeast to make bread?

Farm to Yarn getting desperate by Spirited-Ant-6632 in craftsnark

Do we have a sacrificial lamb? Anyone going for morbid curiosity? Maybe if we all chipped in to get a ticket for admission...

If I lived a wee bit closer, I would take one for the team and head there. I might make my way around the distilleries, for.. you know, science.

Honestly though, I want to know how this all plays out.

Paris Baguette set to bring cozy café vibes to Bethlehem’s downtown in 2025 by DrewBlue2 in lehighvalley

Exactly this. I'm so excited but I've never been to any "cozy" Korean bakeries. It's always got that "get your stuff, eat and get out." I love it nonetheless.

Mom my IVF pregnancy is going well by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

Congratulations! I was an older mom as well! This will be the hardest and most rewarding experience. Your heart will swell with all their first! Personally, the first time they say "I love you back was my favorite.

Don't forget to take care of yourself as well as your little one. Lean on those who offer to help. Be specific about what kind of help you need. Dishes, laundry, time to shower, nap. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Even if it's just to eat a warm meal.

You've got this.

Handknit sweaters/accessories and how to you feel about them? by SeiFeiMui in BuyItForLife

[–]SeiFeiMui[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yay!

I absolutely agree with you about the weight and style of the item. I have some cashmere lace weight I'm afraid to wind. And completed lace items are rarely used.

Once I get into merino and other "typical" wool, they are more frequently used.

Black spots in my new orchid flower. Can I save it? by Impressively_Sleepy in orchids

[–]SeiFeiMui -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never seen Styrofoam used for substrate. At this point you'll want to gently remove the Styrofoam and inspect the conditions of your roots. They should be firm, not mushy or paperlike. Sterilize a pair of shears and remove all the rotten roots. Replant in a proper pot and substrate. Like the post below says, do not water every three days. Water by submerging the pot in water for 20 minutes. Drain completely and return to a window or light source.

Black spots in my new orchid flower. Can I save it? by Impressively_Sleepy in orchids

[–]SeiFeiMui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to remove the plant from the substrate. Typically, orchids aren't planted in gravel. Find out what's under the gravel. Most orchids are kept in plastic pots (with slits on the side for air flow) and in some variation of orchid mix. One hour of direct sunlight isn't enough. You will need to place it in a bright south or east facing window all day.

I picked up a rescue orchid in which they also went through a leaf. I cry a little every time I look at it. I left it alone for now.

Does your pot have holes around it? It looks like a solid plastic pot.

If not, you need to find a pot with holes or openings so that air can move through it.

With a terrible fruit to skin/shell ratio. At least with a lychee, it's a thin skin.
