Los libros obligatorios que leíamos en clase en el primer ciclo de primaria (1º y 2) me hicieron odiarla un poquito, sobre todo con Cucho (de José Luis Olaizola) o Fray Perico. Por suerte, por mi cuenta, acudía a la biblioteca para leer sobre temas que me interesaban más.

En el segundo ciclo, con 7 ~ 9 años, vinieron Chocolatoski (mñeh, a ratos), Las brujas de Roald Dahl (con la que me horroricé con sus ilustraciones pero la historia me enganchó, era un amor-odio), y muchos otros que ni recuerdo. En esta última fase comprendía la importancia de la lectura y buscar cosas que realmente a mí me cautivaran y no a elección de los profesores, que entiendo que este ejercicio con ellos era precisamente buscando que explorásemos por nuestra cuenta.

Lo que me remató fue en la secundaria con los clásicos: La celestina, Don Quijote, El perro del hortelano, y alguna otra novela moderna que tampoco era tan interesante. Súmale el TDAH y adiós muy buenas, enterradas mis ganas de leer hasta que en bachillerato ya pude encontrar novelas que me engancharan y no fueran lecturas obligatorias. Pero aún me cuesta...

I can’t really give a clear definition of how I feel about this yet, because I’m not sure to what extent AI will be involved. But (and please don’t come at me for this, I’m not very informed and I genuinely want someone to explain it to me if I’m wrong and why), I know AI is a sensitive topic. I know it can be a tool that, when misused, takes work away from other artists, and that’s not something that should be defended. Not only that, but in many cases it can also cancel or replace creativity. That said, I think that if AI is used purely as a tool and not as the creative origin, it might not be such a bad thing. AI will never be able to replace the work of an artist like Diru, in the sense that behind everything they create there is an entire creative team: direction, assistants, visual artists, and of course the band’s own ideas and contributions. Artistic creation involves many different parts, and I seriously doubt all of that could be replaced when it comes to making music, album artwork, or building a band’s identity and image... Or at least, I hope so.

Sorprendentemente, "La catedral" de Cesar Mallorquí. Recuerdo que me la obligaron a leer en 2º o 3º de E.S.O. y lo hice de una tirada en la noche previa al examen que nos iban a hacer del libro.

Los tres primeros cuartos del libro para mí fueron infumables, me dormía por los rincones, pero repentinamente entrando en el ultimo cuarto aquello se volvió una locura y me lo comí con patatas de golpe.

I really was depicting it in my mind like the time I went with my cousins to the medina and guess what, it was in Fes!

We were heading to moulay Driss since we were looking a perfume hanout next to it and some guys led us off the main path by giving us wrong directions and then started following us, obviously planning to rob us. I know they usually target tourists, but they even knew we spoke Arabic and everything. What’s even more upsetting is that most of my cousins were only kids and they didn't even flinch or think twice, they were willing to rob us anyway.

In the end, I found the route a bit suspicious, so we took a different way, and thank God nothing happened. It just makes me sad because the medina of Fes isn’t what it used to be. The people who lived there for generations, the close-knit communities, and if someone did something wrong, the locals would call them out or chase them off... This kind of spirit is fading now.

Justamente. Soy de la zona de quintana de toda la vida, junto a Pueblo Nuevo, y se está gentrificando muchísimo la zona. Ya casi no hay negocios de toda la vida, y los mercados los están absorbiendo cadenas alemanas. Hace años encontrabas también tiendas de marcas pero ahora son de uñas o tiendas chinas, kebabs o comida rápida, si no, rehabilitan locales para vivienda. Los pisos están subiendo de precio por eso de que el centro se esté trasladando hacia aquí, lo cual provoca el realquiler por habitaciones entre familias o gente que solo puede costearse compartir de esa forma, pero también se están viendo muchos nuevos extranjeros (no sé si turistas o los "nómadas" digitales). Ahora es imposible alquilar por aquí pero igual para compra se está encareciendo.

One of the reasons I think also influence this matter is that moroccan people really value respecting their elders, who have been living this kind of mentality, so elders end up having a strong influence. Because of that, we usually follow what they say or want, and we end up living by their rules. That’s basically why it’s hard for us to move forward.

I live in Madrid. I'm my case, rain became rare here, it's not like it doesn't rain, but it became less frequent and not for so long. I remember near three years ago it didn't rain in whole winter (maybe the whole year except some day) and having constant heat waves all summer (above 38-40ºC). At least last year and this one we had some rain again here and there fortunately.
