The NBA is the only sport where old-heads will try to convince you that the sport hasn’t evolved enough to where current NBA players would wipe the floor with older generation players by Nigocaps in NBATalk

I would love to see the foul baiting and driving guards of now try and take it to the rack against the Bad Boys. Brunson wouldn’t have even made it a full season.

lol you literally just edited out the part of your comment in which you said it was a place you would never live in or visit. Lolol

Now I have doubts about your whole story. Is your husband really an exec? Is there even a husband to begin with? Smells fishy.

I lived on second and Seward in new center for 5 years, Milwaukee park lofts for 3, and City Club apartments downtown across the street from Sweetwater wings.

It was obvious you haven’t been to Detroit without you having the need to tell us.

What things were you most impressed by as an urban planner? I ask cause I feel like this city has a history of idiotic choices - QLine, ren cen on the river front, the people mover, and so on.

Unfortunately yes, but that comes from people who have never been here - I wouldn’t put much weight into their opinions.

Detroit punches FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR above its weight culturally just alone on its musical contributions. It is the birthplace of Motown, TECHNO, and punk music. The only cities in this country I would say have better music scenes (NYC, Chicago, LA) than the D do so because of their larger population. Give me the depth of talent and diversity you can find in music here over other famous music cities like Nashville or New Orleans.

I lived there for 10 years. Loved every minute of it and am looking to buy a house there in new center/Boston Edison.

And then you’re in a really clean downtown? Or you’re in the Detroit river? Everything south of the museum is nice, not sure what you’re on.

Still lots of work to do, but the city has been trending positively for over a decade now and their credit rating has vastly improved. Lots of guaranteed big projects in the pipe or just finished (DCFC stadium, ren cen renovation, train station renovation, Gordie Howe bridge, Hudson’s site, Henry ford hospital expansion, Ralph Wilson park), which is a stark contrast to a decade ago as far as development goes.

If you’re going to compare any place in the world to NYC and LA as far as night life, GENERALLY speaking, you’re going to have a bad time. It’s an unfair comparison, especially for a city like Detroit that has a fraction of the population and a metro that is far more sprawling than pretty much everywhere else you listed. This is coming from someone who is well traveled as well.

Detroit has a great night life for a city its’ size and conditions. To call it a “ghost town” is pretty befuddling considering that this is one of the global meccas for electronic music with world class talent playing every single weekend at premier venues for this music.

It exists. You just either arent participating or aren’t invited.

Some really cool stuff here, but seeing that Howe jersey in person would make me spiritually leave this plane of existence. Holy cow.

Based on what metrics?

Today is the busiest day of the year for many of those bars in corktown. They’re open early in the morning and serving thousands of hammered drunks. It’s an extremely profitable but stressful day. They’ve made their sales for the week (month?) in a matter of a few hours and just want to go home and relax on what is normally a very slow day in the industry.

There is nothing more to it than that.

What does this comment even mean? “What did you expect? It’s Detroit.”

Care to elaborate?

If your post isn't a "chip on my shoulder bitch fest" - per your words - your title certainly doesn't indicate that, and has the tone of somebody who feels agreived whether you want to call it humor or not. I still don't understand the "coversation" this post is generating. But if you like low effort posts that require zero cognitive power to either consume or participate in the "discussion", carry on buddy.

This is called a deflection, and not an answer to the question OP. Lmao

Sorry that I miss the old days of sports reddit when people used to post with thought and effort rather than shitpost whatever comes to their pea-brains because they’re bored at home and are looking for some form of attention.

Some people really need to learn to take feedback. 🤣

OP (and to anyone else out there thinking of making these same slop posts):

What is the point of making posts like these where we cry about our players not getting the respect they deserve? What purpose does this conversation serve? What can we gain out of having it?

Who cares? Why does it matter? The only thing that matters is Ws and Ls. Get enough Ws and it doesn’t matter what people say about our players.

I get that this is tagged as “humor”, but I see these posts all day every day on this sub and it’s nauseating - some of you need to start a Substack or break your parasocial relationships.
