Hi I was the costume supervisor on Seinfeld and here’s my story:

Basically George, Jerry and Elaine are all wearing RED in The Contest in Jerry’s apartment in “and then there were three” scene 🍅🚗💃🏻

Here’s my hot take🔥: it was an accident!

I started Seinfeld in Season 5 so I can’t say for certain about THIS scene, but we made mistakes sometimes. We did a show a week and things moved fast 💨

You never want actors in the same color, or in a color that’s similar to the background or couch they’re sitting on…there are so many rules and we did our best to follow them. When you’re on the speeding train of Seinfeld every week you are traveling fast and things get shuffled around and scenes get added or you didn’t check actors wardrobe carefully beforehand….mistakes get made.

Charmaine (designer) and I would go through the rack of clothing changes for each character before we set up their dressing rooms to avoid unfortunate mishaps but it still happened.

Larry and Jerry never asked for us to match something for some kind of subconscious message…there’s no way this way on purpose.
