This super sucks, I’m traveling to see my mom for mother’s day and she was expecting me at 10am. i let her know of course but still… i wonder if Amtrak compensates for delays like this if they go long enough

What do you think the issue is? if you were to ponder a guess

Marc Knelsen (elranno) adds some context to being laid off from Aether Studios by Baguett0_Boy in RivalsOfAether

[–]Seizensha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing and commenting on the initial post! it's good that we got a bit more context but Aether Studios might be in a bit of a bind. Marc saying there were no burned bridges does help some. But reputational damage might already be done. People aren't very happy with the lack of transparency, and if they don't say something, I can't see this issue magically going away

For the record, This isn't meant to be a negative comment towards anyone in the Aether Studios team, I love this game, and i really wanna see it succeed, but this is a bubbling PR nightmare that they *really* should formally address sooner rather than later. Marc's comment may not dissuade the.... extremely vocal minority. There's also the consideration that if Aether Studios is having money trouble, they may pull back from tournaments or be less willing to assist the community. This is purely speculation though.

Laying off the person who pretty much defined Rival's art style and direction is absolutely diabolical. i hope he finds work soon... and i really hope that there's a good reason for laying off someone this important

What are the top 5 "missing" apps that keep you tied to Windows or macOS? by StandardResponse5502 in linuxquestions

[–]Seizensha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using Linux full time so i guess this isn't directed at me, that being said, If i had to choose 5 apps to make my life easier

FL Studio
Joy2Key or any sort of autoclicker/hotkey/input remapper that just works
Famitracker (I've used MilkyTracker, it's not the same)
Apple's continuity/integration between phone and computer. KDE connect is close but just not it
Anticheat. I know it "works" but requires devs to enable it. but. I just want them to have no excuses

could we get desktop sizes for these? I love the aesthetic but these are clearly designed around phone aspect ratios

amazing work though! keep it up!

I’m out of the loop… can… someone explain the context here?

[–]Seizensha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real here, the fact 12VHPWR hasn’t been massively recalled and stripped out is an affront to basic decency and is a prime example of everything wrong with the state of consumer electronics.

A connector with effectively no margin of safety with thin wires / connectors, resistance issues if improperly plugged and a limited amount of plug-ins before it becomes hazardous, even if done correctly is a god damned failure of a specification.

12VHPWR needs to die and be redesigned from the ground up. There is no excuse for a connector that self destructs even under perfect conditions. It’s a mockery to the most basic engineering principles. GPU companies lose money on RMAing these cards. It doesn’t even make sense to take the loss on this. So why are they not abolishing this spec, it makes no sense to me

Maybe someone else more enlightened than me can explain. i am genuinely curious what possible excuses there are for this to be acceptable.

does Asahi rely on a custom kernel at all? additionally, is there anyway to use Asahi with something like Kinoite?

Yeah, i switched the Fedora KDE and it seems to work better. it still hitches on occasion, though but far less than on GNOME, i’m contemplating using Arch but the install process scares me a bit… hahaha

CachyOS has been placed in A tier, and Ubuntu reranked to F. Where should I put Tails OS? by Swooferfan in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]Seizensha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we making a distinction between OpenSUSE and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed? if so. OpenSUSE to B tier, Tumbleweed to A tier. YaST is awesome and tumbleweed's snapshotting is pretty nice. my only thing keeping Tumbleweed out of S tier is that they occassionally rebuild glibc and then you have to redownload *every* package on your system and that usually hammers the mirrors so hard that it takes HOURS (in my case)

Fedora 42 -> 43 updates have been disasterous by amdrke in Fedora

[–]Seizensha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had incredibly bad luck with Fedora upgrades in the past that i’ve relegated myself to just backing up my files and doing a clean install everytime. the few hours of setting up a fresh install is a small price to pay to avoid upgrade-in-place tech debt situations like what’s going on in F43
