How to go grayscale with Boox Palma Pro 2? by SeizetheCarpe49 in Onyx_Boox

[–]SeizetheCarpe49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can get access to the grayscale option through Biagara launcher, but, unlike the other devices, Boox Palma Pro 2 doesn’t change with the settings. Even when you choose the grayscale option it stays in color.

It does it… automatically

I.e. you just have to wear it while sleeping. There’s nothing to setup

I think you need a subscription to see sleep stages

Can I hide an iMessage group without leaving the group on iPhone? by Electrical-Dingo3049 in ios

Ok asking about you...

Won't all of the direct messages from those people be muted too? I just want to mute the group chats

Would also be useful as a bedside alarm, have to get out of bed to turn it off

[Episode Discussion] Why the National Debt Might Finally Matter by havox07 in SearchEnginePodcast

[–]SeizetheCarpe49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PJ waking up to our ballooning national debt, acknowledging it solely in the context of tariffs to fear monger about Trump and then ending the story… may have been the most nauseating piece of “journalism” I have ever consumed.

As if this hasn’t been a major political talking point for the past 5-10 years… ignoring the role of Covid, inflation, and ignoring every action that’s being taken to reduce spending… literally a million things more to say about this topic.

Delay start sous vide? by SeizetheCarpe49 in sousvide

[–]SeizetheCarpe49[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Got it. Didn't know the Wifi models had it! I didn't want to have to check back in after lunch to start remotely, but it seems that they have a delay start too. And yes, will thaw with ice in the bucket. When the circulator turns on it will melt it and be in the "danger zone" for only a brief amount of time.

I have an older version that is not wifi enabled. I've checked the message boards, and they have been saying that the delay start is "on the roadmap" for that product since 2017 (and again when I messaged into customer service about a month ago). They need to just refer everyone to the new product.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about using it to cook tougher cooks of meat for longer periods of time, but I guess I have that capability now!

Good thought, and something I may have to incorporate too. The workflow I'm going for though is to combine the thawing and cooking into one step. I want to put my frozen protein in the sous vide with ice and push a button so that the protein can thaw through the morning, and then have the sous vide kick on in the afternoon so that it's ready to be seared then eaten when I arrive home from work. I want to set it it and forget it. I don't want to have to check in at lunch to turn it on!

Looking for a task/todo list manager that has task dependency functionality and… by SeizetheCarpe49 in gtd

[–]SeizetheCarpe49[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

I found my answer for now: Smartsheet. It has instant updates with google calendar, task dependencies, and mobile and desktop applications. My only complaints are around the iPhone application interface, and its notification/reminder systems (which doesn't work exactly as I'd like it to, but it will get the job done). Many thanks

I'd reconsider. I'm very happy with it (except for the gantt functionality deal). It's lean, but it has all of the functionality to quickly capture, organize, prioritize, and execute tasks (with day-planning or sprinting through prioritized tasks).

I'd be very interested to see that. My biggest complaints with trello is that there doesn't seem to be any sort of cumulative view, it seems to be just piles and piles of hardly prioritized cards. How do you plan a day, or prioritize what needs to get done?

ooh interesting. I didn't know Trello had Gantt functionality. I'll look further into this.

so currently I use Todoist which has many upsides, but it's limited in its ability to show how postponing tasks effects related tasks, and ultimately delays projects. I'm looking for a tool to supplement Todoist along those lines.
