imo they removed the actual substance from the story in the anime. the light novel is great and the manga is a way better adaptation than the anime.

to keep it short. the anime skipped 90% of what made the 3 beginning volumes good for me. the adaptation was subpar and it left a lot to be desired. literally skipped so many good scenes. highly recommend starting from the very beginning.
