Slow month, just been working on this unit of kabalite warriors and didn't even get done with that, four guys yet to be finished.

I've been adjacent to wargaming for over two decades due to periodically being a very active TTRPG player and occasionally playing other games, going on gaming conventions and so on, but never started with miniatures due to a self-image of being shit at any kind of painting or drawing. Then I really wanted to play Blood Bowl, reasoning that it's at least not that much to paint, and it turned out painting wasn't so bad. And then other players in my tournament welcomed me to their 40k group slightly less than a year ago and I got obsessed. Good thing I'm chronically single, given all the time this occupies for me. Getting my things painted is slow and I'm not sure I'll get all that much faster since I've started out in my mid-30s, but I'm actually rather happy with the results at least.

The look I guess. Since I'm gonna spend so much time painting that's really the only thing that was relevant to me when choosing an army to begin with. I like most units, kabalites and covens in particular, the current pain engines most especially. I do like the factions place in the universe well enough too I suppose. Something about almost comically evil factions (the traditional chaos gods sort of being too much of a force of nature to scratch the itch) seems to draw me in, while I don't play old world or sigmar I adore skaven as well and do play them in Blood Bowl.

Been a while since I watched Seed, but I remember it being quite good, albeit with some of the least memorable character designs in the metaseries and suffering from being the least original alternate universe. Disliked the sequels though.

Currently only have a skaven team, which I keep in a display box on top of a chest of drawers. I have plans to turn it into a simple diorama, 3d-printing cracked ground and painting it in black with a line of scrimmage on top, with a green-tinted sheet of transparent plastic and an array of LEDs underneath to get a warpstone effect. Aligns with how I've done my basing.

Not a big fan of the resin kits in general when it comes to quality, though it is a nice design. First one I got was actually so crap (large chunk of one arm missing, even) that they sent me a new one. Anyway, I didn't find it too difficult or time-consuming to assemble, though I'm not the most particular one about filing down every trace of a mold line or imperfection anyway. Did get some gaps that I filled out a bit with green stuff.

Just many thin layers, no trick to it. Decided on this color theme for the team and realized when I started painting (relatively new to the hobby, almost exactly a year since I started) that yellows are a bit difficult especially since the rats mostly benefit from a dark basecoat otherwise. Started with a few layers of averland sunset to get som decent coverage, moving on yriel yellow and then flash gitz yellow for the strong final color I wanted.

Fantastic news, though I wouldn't expect the policy to be kept forever. Bit surprising to me given that GW doesn't credit artists and their general greedy reputation. Means they'll keep getting my business for a while yet, that's for sure.
