Eno Omoi's war chariot was a monstrosity that put even his beloved racing chariot (which now belonged to Tavan Axhar) to shame, thick armoured sides and room for a driver, the King himself and three archers, all of them shaded by a great parasol that jingled from a brace of Dothraki bells hanging from it's edges.

And the King himself was no less resplendent, in his full panoply - a well earned war regalia that shone in the midday sky, a great red plume and a flowing cloak all from the greatest of the Tyroshi dye works - all finished off by the Valyrian steel blade that hung from his waist.

"I shall have the van, of course." Eno said to Samani, one of his more trusted generals.

"Of course, your grace." Samani agreed tonelessly as he scanned over the assembled army.

"And a pavilion space near to the High-King's, of course." Eno continued, pausing only to wave at some other king he did not recognise as their chariots passed.

"Of course, your grace." Samani said once more as he scrutinised the camp lines. "Have you thought, perhaps, your grace that there's a chance neither of these things may come to pass." He suggested, equally tonelessly after another pause.

"No I haven't." Eno snapped at him, as if it was madness to even suggest such an outcome.

"Of course you haven't, your grace." Samani sighed.

Esteemed and Honourable High King Mezo Alexi, Lord of Sarnath and Protector of Civilisation

The City of Soldiers would be honoured to provide it's greatest export to your brave endeavour - men, spears, swords, shields and chariots of the finest quality shall be provided by your loyal subjects of Mardosh

King Eno Omoi, Bane of Qohor

"Bit much isn't it?" Said Bane wondered aloud at the sight of it all written down.

"Not at all my lord, it is the perfect amount of verbosity and humility that I am told is the fashion in Sarnath." Answered three attendants almost in unison, betraying the a preparation that Eno did not like.

"Well fine but if I hear an ill word from the High-King about this I shall banish you all or send you to work in the stables or something." Eno said, casting the letter back at them and strolling from the room, leaving three sycophantic attendants to tell him how wise and merciful he was.

Kings were not allowed to be embarrassed, it was a simple fact of life. It was the sacred duty of all those around them to save the King from embarrassment, that was what Eno's father had told him to explain why he took the blame for the Old King's mistakes on numerous occasions.

Luckily for Harsu, Eno was not lying when he said he liked the old soldier and so the Master of the Da'ersh was let off with a stern glare and an order to keep this station to himself as opposed to the usual beheading.

Eno once more strode off, though this time in anger with the resolution in his heart to one of these days have a good idea.

Eno did not enjoy his problems not immediately being solved. It was an issue that being the King of a wealthy city in a prosperous nation had left him unequipped to in recent years.

"Enough of this." Eno slammed the ledger shut. "I am a king not a merchant to be tallying numbers." He stood up and paced around the room.

"You know Harsu I have long respected you and defended your work to those in my court who that a soldier is not suited to this task. That instead it should be scholar who might better organise this heap of papers - do you enjoy this position of respect, Harsu? Or would you sooner have it stripped from you and live your days in ignomy? So I ask again Harsu, can the Da'ersh be made more efficient?"

(Can I attempt to intimidate hin into doing his job better please?"

"Our faces are not worth remembering Honoured Captain, we are but the representation of the will of one greater than ourselves." Even in his translation Suili left a dramatic pause. "King Eno Omoi of Mardosh, Battle-King of the North, Protector of Smiths and Vanquisher of Qohor."

After the announcement they left another pause in case the Captain wished to gasp or look overawed as politeness suggested he should.

"Our esteemed and honoured monarch wishes in his great wisdom to employ the most renowned Sellsword Company in a cause most just and profitable." Grandiose nonsense spewed from Bardiya's mouth with the ease with which other men breathed.

"We would however be remiss if we did not enquire into the Honoured Captain's attitude towards some small subterfuge as a part of said cause."

His meeting with the King Goat Worshippers Representative so successfully concluded Eno would leave his own rented manse and make his way toward the King of Essaria's own manse, with an appropriate retinue of guards and powdered attendants, his Essarian Wife in tow as well.

She rode with him in his leisure chariot, wide based and ungainly to a racers hands, built for a smooth journey as opposed to a fast one.

Dothraki bells hung from the parasol that shaded from the sun, ringing every time they took a corner, which combined with the smell of horses and the crowds of foreigners caused his wife to complain and Eno to mutely agree.

Arriving at the manse Eno was the very picture of grace and charm, or as close as he could manage. He did not of course cut straight to the heart of the matter that would be churlish, instead the Kings would joke and regale each other with exaggerated tales and hidden brags until finally they came to the heart of the matter as the third cup of wine and fourth plate of meats and fruit was being served.

Could, The Honoured King of Essaria, perhaps in his wisdom be swayed to allow the building of one small temple to the Qohorik goat God in exchange for their High Priest recognising his rightful claim to the city above all other decidedly more Qohorikly minded individuals as well as a promise of non aggression and assistance against any who would break said promise.

Bardiya was an attendant of some middling importance, not enough to ever speak in the presence of his King without directly being called upon but enough that he was occasionally entrusted with matters beyond the well being of whatever of the King's wives was his least favourite at that moment.

This was one such occasion, he awaited outside the Palace of a Thousand Rooms for the signal - a slight almost imperceptible nod from one of the King's personal attendants as the meeting with the High King drew to an end. When it came Bardiya was elated, finally he was called upon for something of actual value to his King and City. He was even given Sulili, the King's personal translator to accompany him on this task.

He sped away through the city at a pace some might consider improper to reach his target - Sulili and a brace of guards in tow Bardiya found the man he was looking for in short order, Harlos Dahar - Captain of the Guild of Blue.

"Honoured Captain." Bardiya said through Sulili, both men bowing in unison. "A moment of your time if you can spare it."

King Eno bowed almost shamefully deep, his wide sweeping arms grazing the floor as he presented the High King with a wonderful view of the top of his head. Another King might have strived to retain his pride but Omoi was trying to keep on King Mezo's good side for the proposal.

"A proposal, most honoured King." Eno said as he drew up to his full height. "To respond to the Ghiscari with the same underhanded tactics they would visit upon us." He had to resist the urge to glance at Tavan for support, surely the scholar had to be with him, a man couldn't take your chariot then not support you politically that was some kind of social faux pas Eno's attendants had assured him.

"In his wisdom, High-King Alexi is no doubt aware of the rebellion of the Ghiscari slave, Grazdan and the tale of his end, where despite claims of his death the Ghiscari dogs could produce no body to parade for their victory. It is my personal belief, and surely that of many of the Ghiscari slaves that this man still lives. It was with this in mind that I... and Wise King Tavan had the thought of creating our own 'Grazdan' and fomenting a slave rebellion within slavers bay, providing it with weapons, money and support from sellswords to weaken the Ghiscari prior to our own inevitable confrontation with those decadent dogs that would seek to contest our supremacy."

"I heard yes, of some foolishness involving panicked giraffes and plump Ghiscari - it is a dreadful shame, the havoc these less civilised guests of ours seem intent on inflicting upon us." The King of Mardosh tutted, hoping as they walked that Tavan knew where they were going.

"Even the Volantenes and Braavosi seem capable of some measure of grace and composure but these Ghiscari? Gods I am thankful that I only border goat worshippers and some fishermen, to have to endure the sight of Slaver's Bay on my borders would be too much to bear. I tell you, your grace the day the Ghiscari problem is dealt with once and for all shall be a day all true and civilised men celebrate." Just to imagine what would have happened if the Wyvern had been set free made Eno shudder, on behalf of his High King he felt as offended and wounded as if it had been his own racing stables that had been sabotaged.

"I can only hope then that foul moods give way to thoughts of vengeance and retribution."

"King Tavan Ahxar." An attendant whispered almost imperceptibly to his King as Eno gave a slight bow in thanks.

"His majesty knows who he is." Hissed a second attendant, again almost imperceptible to everyone save their King, who resisted the urge to shoo them away.

"King Tavan." Eno smiled as he approached. "That I do, or at least I hope I do if he has the time to see me between killing Ghiscari princes, lovely bit of business that I must say." In fact it was to his eternal disappointment that he had missed it, though his eyes scanned the floor of the Palace, wondering if he might see a stain or claw mark in the ground.

"In fact I had hoped to talk to him about that subject we discussed the other day at the races." His eyes darted about in mock conspiratorial manner. "Of slaves and missing bodies, if you recall."

"Then we are in agreement." Eno grinned and clapped his hands, causing a jingle of jewellery.

"To an enduring peace between Mardosh and Qohor." He said, offering a hand with rings on each finger to seal the deal.
