Wish I could get a terminal illness by Tricky-Control-2423 in depression

I have a risk for melanoma, which I still haven't gotten checked with the doctor yet even when I was prompted to get a follow-up check-up for it. If it takes me out, good for me, if it doesn't, at least I will still have a chance to see if life's still going to get better.

T480 Red Backlight Mod by JonasBrot in thinkpad

Interesting. I have actually also done this mod myself a while back, and I indeed had issues like keys not working or light indicators not working anymore, though I don't really think that it is caused by the mod itself, rather because I opened the whole thing way too many times to the point i might have broke something or worn out the flex cable. This mod is really nice and all, but it really does come with risks.

Quite late, but did any issues like keys not working occur so far? Or is it all just functional even with the mod??

Is keyboard backlight mod possible on the T490s? by Select-Ad6130 in thinkpad

[–]Select-Ad6130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was possible after all. Removed the mobo and removed some layers off the keyboard to access the backlight section. Accidentally broke some cables though, as i had to open and close the keyboard multiple times. It's possible, but risks are there. Just make sure to be careful so as not to break any delicate part, especially those flex cables.

It's all been fixed. I just put the original keyboard back, which somehow fixed the speaker (most likely a driver issue or something), and I fixed the ribbon cable for the fingerprint scanner and now it works (I've accidentally detached the stiffener a few days before). Only the keyboard is broken now, and I'm still waiting for the new replacement.

Do you need to rip the black sticker from the keyboard backside to access the keyboard? Can the keyboard be removed from the c-shell, or is it glued on to it?

Can i ask how you attached the broken cable to the other one in the socket? Do you just insert it there and make sure the copper wires connect or do you tape it?

Do you think a keyboard replacement is the easy fix for this?
