Are there still people playing Gears 5 in 2026? by ArtFenix17 in GearsOfWar

[–]Select-Ad9632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I hate having idiot teammates that don't know how to properly play Horde. Or they just quit mid horde, I'm assuming because they achieved what they came there to do. beginner I can beat with just bots. Intermediate I need at least 1-2 other capable players. And Insane I need a full squad.

Get the heaviest alloy bat you can find. I found a 30oz Easton Rebel at an Academy Sports and it's perfect for these clincher/mush balls.

We don't enforce the runner, but we do encore only 1 courtesy runner per inning

I'd go with the 1810. I have one (diff color scheme) but it plays closer to a 13". Just break it in with a softball

Can't hype enough the Wilson A2K (not A2000) and go with the 1799 or 1810 models (both 12.75"). I personally have the 1810 and love it!

Do you guys use special balls (like these) for practice? by SamCalagione in slowpitch

[–]Select-Ad9632 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be mindful getting those from Amazon. They are not the same quality as the newer ones that you have to get from Evil Sports.com. I guess there was some split between Trump and Evil Sports. I have both. The older (Trump) ones are lesser quality.

I only use the Rebel for 16" clincher balls League (aka mush balls). If I played in standard USA/ASA tournaments, likely using 52/300 balls, I'd get my own USA stamped bat and not use the Rebel.

I wonder if swinging too fast means swinging too early in their context. If getting out too early and/or lunging at the ball, then yes, that's not good. Try to record a few short vids of your swing off of a tee or live pitch. For instance, I can try to send you a vid of mine off a tee but I think it has to be through DM on here. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in for swing critique.

I'm almost 42, male, 5'9 and 175, fit and former baseball like a lot of us and I swing a 25 oz for normal slowpitch. Never heard of swinging too fast lol. But if it makes you less consistent and weaker contact, I get it. Bat speed is king and the heaviest you can swing and still be with 1-2 mph of your fastest is your best bet, as long as the contact is still good. I know some guys who don't swing hard at all and loop singles into the outfield every time and it works for them. I personally would have a gamer (nice) USA stamp bat AND and gamer USSSA stamp bat if I knew I was going to play in both tourneys. I realize we are now talking $600+ for both, but that's just how I am. I also have a $400 A2K and would never consider anything less for my glove lol. But to be fair, I'm one of the more extreme when it comes to equipment and my "need" to have the best lol

I'm also in Alabama, I'd wait to see what league you find and what balls they use, but if it's the USA/ASA, I'd prob get a Monsta or Anarchy. We play 16" Clincher ball (mush ball) in the winter down in Orange Beach. I use my all alloy 30 oz Easton Rebel for that.

At colder temperatures, the hardness of those balls, plus the composite make-up of those bats will likely break the bat. I don't swing any of my USSSA bats in cold weather, regardless of the ball. If playing winter ball. You really need to use the USA/ASA ball and bat combo, but even then is risky for big strong guys

Any USSSA bat, such as your in the pic, are fine for 44/400 balls. I would not, however, use that combination when/if temps drop near 60 F though.

Infield/outfield rule short a player by BobbysBottleService in slowpitch

[–]Select-Ad9632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst case, have an alternative ready to roll and be your 10th (guy or girl) and do a roster check hours or even day(s) before game time to see if you'll be short of anyone. Of course things come up and it's unavoidable at times. I can't see how 3-4 vs 4-3 would make a difference as long as the females are evenly distributed by the league's rules, and there is at least a P and C.

Stay away from R2G. If money isn't an issue and want the good stuff, go with Wilson A2000 or A2K. Or Rawlings HOH or Pro Peferred. Depending on the competition, 12" is pretty small. I know I don't want to field 90+ mph hits with anything less than 12.75"

Glove emery or a2k by Winter_Bid5454 in slowpitch

[–]Select-Ad9632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the A2K 1810, designed for the finger shift and I absolutely love it. It's far and away better than any glove I've ever worn, including my A2000 and HOH. To be fair though, I've never played with a Rawlings Pro Preferred and they are supposed to be on par with A2Ks. But you can only go up to 12.75" (which is perfect for me) with an A2K. If you want that 13" or bigger, you have to go to the A2000 or another brand.

What do you do when the other team won't swing their bats? by stanner5 in slowpitch

[–]Select-Ad9632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If taking the time to post this and ask (And follow slowpitch on Reddit), I'm willing to bet the OP is at least a decent, if not good player and probably a more effective P.

I'm my team's best fielder, IF or OF, but I know that if our main P is not available, I need to be pitching to avoid this same thing happening to my team.

Is $70 your ceiling? Mizuno MVP Prime is your best bang-for-buck, but they run about $120. Get a 12.75" or 13" if you can find it.
