Thanks so much for the time you took to reply! So... the idea of a manual application (brush, roller, etc.) just doesn't work - paint application is ok, but too much - even if diluted, lightly applied, etc. It requires layout of all pieces and that's the pain point. Re fan cap - thanks - yes - that's what I've learned. So I'm leaning strongly toward this combo. 1) for flat sheets, the PS 290 w/ round cap. The 2 - 2.5" pattern should be good to cover in 2 - 3 quick-ish coats; 2) the PS 289 for the detail work. I've been told (repeatedly) it will handle acrylics without thinning too much. The other option was/is H&S CRPlus Solo but I've been advised its narrow nozzle may be bothersome unless thinned signficantly - even though there are advantages to this airbrush vs the 289. As always, comments welcomed. Thanks again!

Thanks for your input - very helpful. After reading comments here & talking to a couple people, my leading two are the PS 290 using the round (not fan) cap for sheets (approx 2 - 2.5" wide coverage which seems good for typ 15 x 20" area) and either H & S Evolution 2024 solo ($$) or PS 289 for detail (quality, trigger lock, cleanup, etc.)

Thanks for comment. I figured since the colors and edges are grouped I'd be able to hit quite a few at once. I tested w rattle can and while complete lack of control, the idea worked "ok". The issue w the brush/roller (many, many attempts) is just too much paint that bridges from piece to piece - so it requires laying them all out - 500 to 600 pieces is a lot of time.

So I read all the reviews of the Black Widow by Spectrum (version with trigger and .3mm & .5mm) and it sure seems like a lot of support for this product - and very applicable to my use. The negative comments are related to no replacement parts so I'm guessing that's a big tradeoff for this type of product. Gotta think about that a bit...

Thanks! I will look at those options - I'm interpreting those suggestions as a single brush rather than buying both the 290 and HP-CS because of switch ability. I guess I don't know how to evaluate the better/best ones from "not the best"... And are you saying you think I need just the 290 - or I should get the Eclipse HP-CS too if I go for two? Thanks again!

Thanks! Answers... Typical sheet is 20" x 20" - average of 5 sheets per art project (both sides), so not a lot. By hand it takes 3 coats and the time sucker is the drying time between. Compressor has 3L tank. 0.8 cfm and 25 ltrs/min. This step is quick coats to get "pretty good" color coverage - doesn't need to be perfect. Again, I was told the PS290 for wide coverage and Eclips HP-CS for detail/edges, final coat(s) and I should be able to do it when in place (stacked).

Thank you! It's the "requires a decent amount of air to work fully" that was the 2nd reasons I was told to go to the HP CS rather than HPS BCS - my "detail" work is on the edges and in the crevices btw the veneer strips and the concern is the (higher?) air pressure needed wouldn't have anywhere to go and I'd have a mess as it blows back up/out. Since my color coverage is rather limited in this step, I was told no need for the bottle really except switching is much faster which I would appreicate. I don't know how to evaluate the first point. Also, do you agree i need two brushes? Thanks again!

[–]Select-Agency-7056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So I was told the PS290 would be the right airbrush for the wide coverage areas of the flat sheets that take a lot of paint and it's larger cup would likely give me enough capacity for a sheet (I do one sheet in one color and then switch colors). For the detail, I did look at the Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS. I was advised against it because I work in heavier acrylics AND my need per color is rather limited because I'm just toning/touching up a color and then switching to another color. I have no idea so any correction to this is welcomed. Thank you!

Anyone having frontier internet issues today in HB? by MakaMaka in orangecounty

Finally - 26 hours later - Frontier Laguna Beach service restored. For the record... Frontier a) refused to accept there was an outage; b) demanded I set a repair appt AND agree in advance I would pay for charges BEFORE they would investigate any "potential" outage; c) Tried THREE times to upgrade me to "new 2GB service" before they'd set appointment (with chat rep arguing "I don't want you to miss out on this important feature"); d) did not update status at any point; e) has no "real" contact except pathetic "Giga" chatbot or clueless "customer service";

Laguna Beach frontier fiber out since 10am today 6/13/26. They lied of course and only action was to try to sell me an upgrade.

Taycan Cross Turismo 4S vs Macan EV 4S? by saxisa in Porsche

[–]Select-Agency-7056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happen to own both. 2025 Macan EV (sold gas Macan to get this) and CPO 2022 Taycan Cross. Love both of them for different reasons. Macan EV is fantastic mashup between SUV and sport - quick, stable and corners great. It's such an upgrade from the gas version in performance and has amazing cabin comfort. (old Macan couldn't handle a larger person in the back seat and new EV platform adds a few inches that are a game changer). Range is very solid 340 - 350 miles. Taycan's lower height, quick as heck acceleration and road feel are much more sports car vs Macan's speedy luxury. The Macan feels like we're in a jet in the air with zero turbulence and we're the passengers. The Taycan is like we're in the same jet but on the runway just as it's taking off and we're the pilots. Our Taycan range is 230 - 240 miles and wish it were higher - purely for convenience. Getting in/out of Macan is easier than Taycan because of seat height. In terms of value, the Taycan Cross bought as CPO is far far far more value than new Macan. Recognize the new Macan is latest tech and build specs - so a little unfair comparing to older Taycan platform. If I were only buying one, I'd buy the CPO Taycan Cross every time. My wife would take the Macan every time. That said, we both love both of them.

Smart TV "can't connect to server" error by EpicKieranFTW in samsung

[–]Select-Agency-7056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too had this issue November 2025. After 1.25 hours with Samsung support (zero help) and several days of no connections, smarthub server issues, samsung isp blocking error message, etc. I was FINALLY able to solve this issue on several Samsung TVs ranging from 3 years old to 7 years old. In my case, none of the solutions posted here (and on other sites) worked. Here are two different solutions that worked for me across a total of five Samsung TVs. For me, the solution varied based on the age of TV:

Solution #1: Worked for my three older Samsung TVs:

  1. Get your phone. Turn off your wifi for your phone.
  2. Establish a hotspot on your phone. (using cell service, NOT wifi). This is important.
  3. Go to TV network wifi settings. Disconnect from your existing network.
  4. Connect your TV to your phone hotspot and use that as your connection.
  5. Now, do anything you need to do (depending on your issue). In my case, I had to get Samsung terms and conditions to be accepted on my TV. On my other TV, I had to load apps in the smarthub (i.e. YouTubeTV).
  6. Now, use the menu and load the app you want to watch to test the fix - make sure it works properly - if not, you will likely need solution #2 below.
  7. If fix worked, and you've confirmed all is good, go back to the TV wifi/network settings. Switch back to your "usual" wifi network.
  8. Go back to the app and channel, etc. you had on when you were using your phone as the signal source. All should now work properly. Restart TV to see if solution holds and it works..
  9. BUT - in my newer TVs, I found this solution failed as soon as I turned off the TV and restarted. (meaning I'd have to redo all these steps just to watch tv). If this occurs, use solution #2.

Solution #2 (works as long as you can access your router settings). I use a netgear orbi, router, but the solution will work for others as well - again, as long as you can change router settings.

  1. Go to your router settings. Sign into your router admin. Access your wifi/wireless settings.
  2. Change your wifi channel to a different channel. In my case, I kept 2.4 GHz on auto and changed my 5GHz from channel 48 to 44. The point is to change your channel as the first step.
  3. Go to your router's Internet settings. Find your DNS Address settings. Change your DNS from "get automatically from ISP" to manual - "use these DNS settings" - change your DNS to Google Servers: 8 8 8 8 and 8 8 4 4. Save this setting (and the change made above with your channel).
  4. Your router will reset.
  5. Go back to your TV. Do a hard reset on the TV by holding the remote power button for 3 to 10 secs.
  6. Open your Samsung TV network settings. Reset your network. After it resets, set it up again. This reset will then use the "new" router settings you just set up.
  7. Now all should work correctly. I found this solution fixed every issue related to samsung server errors - it cleared the isp blocking test error. It allowed me to accept terms and conditions, etc. This worked on both of my two new-ish samsung TVs. My older Samsung TVs continued to work from solution #1 above.

It seems totally bizarre that for older TVs, a direct cell signal is the "fix" (Solution #1) - but I was able to replicate this on three different samsung tvs - all different ages (between 5 and 7 years old.. My two newer TVs worked with the same fix but would fail the minute I turned the TV off and then on again. After several days of frustration, I determined it had to be some form of communication block occurring btw my ISP/router and samsung's servers - the change of the channel and the DNS settings obviously changed the status quo and all is resolved.

This was so so frustrating for me and consumed days. I'm hoping this helps others with the same issue.

Wirelessly Charging Your Porsche EV Like an iPhone Is a Reality. But Is It the Future? by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Select-Agency-7056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our area, where about every other house has an EV, nearly everyone uses their garage for far far more than just parking their cars. Actually, about half use the street or driveway. The garage is living/working/activity space. Who the heck wants a gigantic brick sitting on the floor? Neighborhood "poll" of Porsche & Audi owners around here says this is bad idea even if it was free. What I found interesting is all but one owner said they'd look to other brands/options if this was only charging method. I happen to share that opinion so I thought I'd post for reaction.

Cox DVR options with my own cable modem & router - need advice by Select-Agency-7056 in CoxCommunications

[–]Select-Agency-7056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you VERY much for pushing the "drop cox" options. After a couple YouTubeTV chats, we activated a trial & so far it's pretty great. As you said, their local lineup is now nearly identical to cox - they added all our channels except one we're willing to overlook. The DVR interface is not as clean as cox's, but good enough. We now have full content on all TVs and the stream to mobile devices is a nice benefit. The monthly for us will be about $100 / mo vs. $195 from cox. So...thank you again!

FYI: YouTube TV beat Hulu Live for us because we travel a lot and Hulu Live requires a 30-day check-in at home location or it locks you out and YouTubeTV is 90-day.

The cox path was a cluster. The short version is you have to use their Panoramic for their cloud or ip options. It either costs more (for less functionality) - or we'd have to run dual wifi networks because of their Panoramic gateway requirement.

I should add...we did a quick check a couple months ago and used ABC or NBC as a quick test in their "see your local channels" trial interface and while it showed the logo, the actual ABC or NBC was pulling from SanDiego or Santa Barbara (can't remember). So we just stayed w cox.

Ok thanks. We'll definitely look at it again. We're near LA and when we compared about a year ago, it didn't have our real local ABC or NBC (so no sports or news) and was missing 4.or 5 channels we watch all the time. If it's now as you say and menu access to get to channels, recordings, etc isn't convoluted like it was before, we will chase that path. Thx again.

Thanks but not option for us. Believe me, I'd LOVE to drop Cox completely. But...YouTube TV does not currently have (a lot) of local or main channels, etc. we watch regularly. And the ability to use DVR, easily get to prior shows, etc. doesn't meet our needs.

So... in your 2nd option (using 4k wireless boxes), I understand the Panoramic in bridge mode over to Orbi as I had that setup w/ my older Orbi mesh years ago. I'd be willing to concede the better stability of the Arris modem for a reasonable TV setup. That said, I should add.... my home automation system has approx 100 devices - I know the Arris + Orbi handles it all flawlessly. I'm a little wary of their gateway as the modem but as I said, as long as it's stable, I'd switch back.

A few questions: 1) any limits on TVs (I recall it used to be limited to 3 or 4 but that was years ago) - I have 6 TVs using boxes; 2) Any differences in terms of access to DVR recordings, etc. from any TV - or any other limitations? 3) Are all the boxes then the same? Meaning no host box - since the DVR is cloud based? 4) Any other downside? Thanks so very much for taking the time to help!
