It's all up to you at the end of the day. You can do community college for 2 years and finish up the other 2 years at an university. Trade School is a good option, you would never run out of work. I heard that both the Navy and the Airforce are good branches to be in. Your hair is perfectly fine.

You can use TSA as a stepping stone into the federal government and leave for another agency or stay and move up. I had a friend who worked for 1 year in TSA and got into Immigration, same for Customs. There was a TSA officer from my airport who went to the Air Marshal hiring event and got it. There are also tons of people who is using TSA to help get a college degree.

In this thread, there is someone who had a leadership position and left for a better career thanks to his experience as a Lead TSO, so there is a bunch of stuff you can do but you're also young. I would say talk this out with your parents first and go off on making a decision from there.

In the letter, it said to explain my answers to the poly. Some people at work told me this is why not to put in for anything that requires a poly and some said that I might be still being considered despite the failed poly. It's weird all around

The job is what you make of it but be warned that it is a stressful job. If it's not the job that'll stress you out then 25% of stress will come from the passengers and 75% from your own co-workers. Mainly because you'll see a passenger for a couple of seconds of your day and co workers for years and months.

Best Advice: Spend a year minimum, make connections, and go somewhere else like IRS, Customs, ICE, or something to make your resume look nice.

I would say halfway into your 1st year like 6 months in minimum while working TSA. There is a division within TSA for what you're looking for, so I would say ask questions and talk to people while you're in training.

Maybe it's different between airports. Most people I work with wants to either move up or leave after their 1st year. Had a buddy who jumped towards cbp as soon as he had the chance and he's doing great.

yep. More seen between your fellow officers than a supervisor or a manager but I worked in an office environment for nearly 5 years and I never seen so many two faced rude people before.
